  • This is an excerpt from the interview with Rupert Spira at the Science and Nonduality Conference featured in the 3DVD set "Science and Nonduality Anthology Vol.4". For the full interview please visit: www.scienceandn...
From an early age Rupert Spira was deeply interested in the nature of Reality. For twenty years he studied the teachings of Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Shankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, twelve years ago. Francis introduced Rupert to the teaching of Jean Klein, Parmenides, Wei Wu Wei and Atmananda Krishnamenon and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience.
Rupert's first book is "The Transparency of Things," subtitled "Contemplating the Nature of Experience,". His second book, "Presence Volume I The Art of Peace and Happiness and Presence Volume II The Intimacy of All Experience" has been currently released by Non-Duality Press. www.rupertspira.com

Japa, mantra, repetition, prayer are acts of concentration and disciplining the mind. Possibly it has no business in the direct path of awareness but those former practices certainly have a function in lessening distractions and keeping a powerful focused mind that is more useful and less cluttered. As the unfettered self, a razor sharp mind is also very useful and a finer instrument. Unfortunately, even though we are the infinite self, mind, body, emotions must still be guided, directed and cultivated in this lifetime. Rupert practiced many disciplines. He once recommended the "Hail Mary" prayer as a good prayer. Many souls who have fortunately realized the Self in this lifetime have practiced countless disciplines with countless teachers. All disciplines take you one step closer. The Self is employing every means possible to wake you up.

My journey into seeking what I understood was I operated my life through all the psychological personalities before the awakening. I don't know whether I am fully understanding on realization of my true Self but I have a sense of seeing my psychological personalities as separate entities. Before they were me and also my consciousness but now the awareness comes in and there is separation between me and my psychological entities but they are still content in my consciousness. They still come to me in thoughts form only one thing is that I acknowledge their existence and let go. It is like space can accept sun, moon, planets, galaxies, you, me, etc all seen and unseen but space is still and calm, timeless, unchanging without the space nothing can exist. I found that space inside me and accepting all the possible existence seen and unseen. I now operate my life from the space of knowing from my being away from my psychological drama. I can choose to give into my thoughts or not to give in. Before I couldn't choose. But thoughts are still there on and off but they have less influence on my choice. My actions become more spontaneous towards love, peace and joy. I am now living not just surviving.

I think one of the most important things to understand in this path is to rationally and logicaly know that also the one who as you say "found the space inside himself and accept all the possible..." and the one who "operates his or her life from the space of knowing from his or her being away form his psychologicall drama..." is also one of the other contents of concsiousness, and has to be seen (meditation or enquiey) until the seer alone remains (enlightenment). or as wittgenstein said (i cant recall what he ecexactly said, but was something like this)t: "finding the veil of perception is itself another veil".
Its important to remember that even the efforts we do in order to find the screen and staying whith it is just another drama which takes place on the screen.
      Sorry for shitty language.

He's talking about the intellectual realization of (the "concept" of) enlightenment, which has nothing to do with the full psychological assimilation of Shunyata-i.e. the relinquishing of all views due to the realization of the lack of inherent essence in all phenomena. Once fully realized, everything happens spontaneously and there is no room left for aligning or progressing in any such regard.

how can one say "there is no such experience as time" in one video, and then say "it takes time" in another teaching.
I know these are just words, but contradiction just makes the path seem longer, as if I have made no progress. Words fail on so many levels, yet there are all we seem to have.
Communication from Rupert transcends language and is non-verbal. We (human mind) just makes associations with words as close to intent as we can get at the "time."
This communication comes through many teachers because the Truth is urging itself to be expressed. Not for any benefit other than to just be.
    Life is truly amazing.

This point of recognising an 'error' in a circumstance is not personal development, it's simple interpersonal awareness. If politeness gets mistaken for progress, it's a pretty thin gruel you are working for. This is why spiritual development at this level of simply being 'nice and sensitive' is a borderline anal practice. In these gatherings you see hungry souls with ravenous eyes sit in the audience darting for specks to feast on. The offerings are so scant.

Yes, indeed. There is an endless development.
Just to make it clear, my critique on meditation is not towards people who are highly realized and use meditation to go deeper on their exploration. My critique is about the so-called 'spiritual practices' that for the vast majority of people have the same effect as taking a Pilates or Yoga class at the gym.

Once you realize God, truth, reality, enlightenment
Enlightenment is not a perfected self, not a perfected personality, not a perfected human condition. Enlightenment has nothing to do with that, it has to do with realizing yourself as the consciousness of God. Realizing yourself as God, and realizing everyone else as God too.
Knows God in everything and everything is interconnected.
Experience the creation of other souls what they create with mind, body, intellect without any judgement of right or wrong.
Guide or share truth to anyone who ask question with deep urge to know answer without any direct or indirect expectation.
Share awareness, understanding on basis of truth on all situation in present moment, so that they make a right choice which can create what they know they can create, without any fear with love.
Enlignten one experiences bliss as and when they want without any reason.

Possibly the optimal answer to the Mantra question would have to say, "please meet me in person after my speech and I'll be more than happy to address the issue for you." That is probably what I would have done although I can't speak for Rupert.

@@ZenMasterGee Then you should define the meaning of enlightenment as a start... Francis Lucille said once, at one of our events: "If a drunken become enlightened he will become a drunken enlightened being." In my opinion (MY opinion only, NO truth here!) enlightenment is just a funny word to further perpetuate our separation and keep us out of the possibility of becoming it... I believe (me, no truth again!) that we are all connected and what keeps us "separated" (illusory or real is irrelevant) is our trauma. So we need to work on healing ourselves to become "fully human" so that we can be "fully divine". One or the other alone are just the perpetuation of an unbalanced act. If I want a lot of light I will create a lot of shadow... What some call enlightenment to me is to be able to be fully human in the understand of also being fully divine and play the edge of both. In the fine line between the two lies the sweet spot. In there resides "The Love Story of One". But, again, I know nothing. these are just my personal opinions.

I disagree. Realization has no solid substance - it exists as an abstract idea. Thus, there can be no 'before' or 'after' realization. In addition, the very concept of realization is misleading, because it suggests that some people are real or fully evolved, and that others aren't. Essentially, realization is yet another product of our imagination. To believe, at any point, that you are not real (enough), is to deceive yourself.

    • @NBT2469
      @NBT2469 Před 6 lety +10

I would have to respectfully disagree with you, Michael. You see, after one awakens to and realizes oneself as Reality, only then does what you say is true, which is true from the perspective of the Absolute level (paramathika satya). However, before that, what you say is true and necessary in order to provide inspiration for those spiritual seekers, who have not yet awaken to and realize themselves as that Reality to keep pushing forward, from the perspective of the Relative level (samvriti satya). We should honor both the Absolute level and Relative level equally, as being equally valid and true. Namaste!
