Was walking my German Shepherd and all of a sudden I heard a loud rumble that sounded like thunder that lasted about 30 seconds, then felt the ground rumble under my feet for 5 seconds, my dog lucked up at the sky, then looked at me then looked at the ground, then he barked a couple times then we walked on, I live in Covington, Indiana, 7 miles East of the Illinois state line.
The earthquake was only a few miles from us. Lots of people felt it. We had some wicked weather last night just over our home too. More on the way tonight. Storm chasers are warning it's going to be worse tonight!

We have had flood warnings 2 days in a row. Getting another storm tonight. Alley turned into a pond that flooded our driveway. Water was so high it filled the floorboards in the front and back seat of our vans.

I don't know about up there but here where I live we had a loud boom in the windows rattle at 1:30 in the morning no mention of any kind of earthquakes laying in that it could be a sonic boom or something

Earthquake was about two miles from me, and I felt that one. My poor bird was sleeping and fell off his perch.

The New Madrid fault line runs though Illinois and is six times bigger than the San Andreas fault in California.

I wonder how Far/Close the Earthquake was from where the Dam Failure is?? I'm sure all the Flooding has something/everything to do with the Quake!
the dam failure was south of Springfield, in the southern part of the state. The earthquake closer to northern part of state, near Chicago
We are close enough to the New Madrid fault so bought earthquake insurance.
