my last video we caught 5 salmon. all on 6" green pyramid flasher. other pole had 4" different style pyramid no bites (friends rod). I use that flasher on every salmon trip and it produces every time. You have a po box or something, I will send you one. Good job getting @philosophy D a salmon! Nice big girl!

I got a new boat, tested it out today with the family on the bay, tomorrow it goes out for salmon. 2007 north river seahawk. 135 hours. 150hp yamaha with a kicker. excited about the kicker lol. 20' with the off shore bracket makes it 22'. Flasher coming your way.

I fish with a flasher 90% of the time. Hoochie + flasher and spoons + flasher will work anywhere. You can use a long leader for spoon and bait. The flasher attracts a lot more fish. You can also rig "false-flashers" to your down rigger wire but not your line. Fighting the flasher can be a big downside. Right as the fish gets to the surface the flashers can make it hard to keep pressure to the fish occasionally. The fish can also use it for leverage as well. I avoid these issues by keeping the motor engaged- (it can help to have your friend engaging and disengaging the motor to keep tension)
The "false flasher" is a must do when you are using a downrigger.

@@gillateengilly5139 honestly I have fished with bait only a handful of times in the past 10 years. my grandpa exclusively fished herring up until 2005 where he switched to fishing spoons. they work so well in most cases, why even bother with bait? especially if the fish are actively feeding. if you are trolling estuaries or in rivers for kings bust the bait back out again- it will help trigger bites as they transition to home migration and spawning.

Another reason I miss the Freshcoast. The fishing on the Pacific. It's not bad in the Gulf off Texas but it's just different. Salmon and rockcod over redfish and sand trout. Still tho fishing is life.

Wow. Nice King. Great job. We caught one #30 on 8/22. My buddy and I have caught salmon with and without flasher. Good luck fishing Matt. My buddy used to have 15.6' Arima and we caught many salmon out of the gate and sequel hole. I love Arima boat. Stable and sea worthy.
Matt, another guy who fishes your area uses 6inch green flasher on his Salmon rigs. Just passing it on. His Y.T. Channel is ChrisPfish. You might get a chance to team up with him and pick up his tricks, but he tells all on his video's for that area.

Up here in British Columbia i use flashers every time I go out for kings and coho. Green with white always work good black and white the water melon colour one you have will also work. Then we use a coyote watermelon colour fishing lure. But also any anchovy with the head teaser lure will work with the Flasher also

It's been amazing having you back Matts hopefully the landlocked salmon are biting tomorrow as well. I remember the days of 10k subs, it's amazing to see that you're almost to 1 mil. keep being you. Also I know some guides in Oregon, and they use the triangle flashers often in the yellow/chartreuse and orange colors, more often orange than not the also use dead bait like you were.

Very nice catch. Totally agree with you... the spin of the bait is critical for looks and so approaching fish doesn't have to navigate/contort much to grab it successfully. Love your Cordova, AK slippers (ExTuff boots). Your videos are always enjoyable and your commentary is very always very informative.

The Fraser is the greatest Salmon riverin the whole world. 5 species and all in the millions. But I would always choose to fish in the ocean in front of the Fraser most of the time.

Flashers are just another tool in the box. Cable baiters, FBR, RSK, Apex, spoons... When things slow down toss something different at em. Personally have had best success with straight chrome. IMO you are going for the attraction of the "flash"

Edit: Hit the auto up on that downrigger ASAP! Had me nervous that hog was going run and wrap>brake off.
One thing I always do when down-rigging is run a slider. That is about 3 to 4 feet of line with a snap swivel on each end, put your lure on one end and snap the other end on your already set line ( line on downrigger ball) The slider slides down your line to approximately half way, whatever you put your downrigger down to and you cover two depts of the same water legally, at least in our area of the Great Lakes.

We use a flasher every year and have luck. Those larger ones you had look like ours. Went out on party boat and the triangle ones worked. We used 2-3 foot leader off the flasher
When you catch a fish like that you gotta do a catch and cook video come on man..

Definitely flashers! Red and blue work good for me... also bright green with black spots. We use divers as well. Nice fish! 30"between flasher and diver. Oregon/ Alaska
Fisherman's Life: When I used to fish outside the bay (estimated: 12 - 30 miles out from SF), we too used spades, but they don't really work well. But in Florida they work really well, I'm assuming it's the color of the water and that we were in glass conditions. That's a nice catch at least you're coming home with nothing. Be safe & tight lines.

Nice video! Today I caught a 250 lb Blue Marlin in Mazatlan. I used 18”bonitos for bait! Tomorrow I’m heading to El Fuerte to fish big bass in Huites lake for a week then back to Mazatlan for another outing to try & get a bigger Marlin. My arms are still weak from all that reeling today! Up in the Columbia we use recrangle flashers with a 12-16oz weight off a 12-15” weight line. Run your bait about 20-24 inch off the flasher or 12-16 inches to a spinner

we exclusively use flashers whether we use bait or not up here on the west coast of vancouver island and it works great for us! my pb is 37lbs
In Canada (hour north of Seattle) everyone here uses flashers (long ones not triangle) Green/Chartreuse always works best. Purple is second. 4-6 foot leaders when using anchovy. All our anchovies go in Rhys Davis teaser helmets to get a similar bend you get with yours.

Yeah we use flashers hear in South Dakota and we run plastic squid or spoons behind our rig more than we use live bait and it works pretty well
I used flasher. First time this year in ocean salmon fishin in my boat. I tried useing your cable baiter in PNW and had no luck, although me and another boater snagged up and he untangled our lines, he laughed at my cable rig lol. Haven't used it since and been useing flashers. All chrome flashers seem to work best. Good video man! I'm on the hunt for a hog!

Personally ive always caught more fish trolling/mooching from the docks with bait over hoochies, buzz bombs or point wilsons. But as a rule of thumb from someone whose worked at a tackle shop for years, coho killers in purple/green splatterback colors and kingfishers in greens and black/white always do well and more people generally tend to run the green variants of flashers though anything with a nice shimmer tends to be a nice attractant.
I love watching these at 3-4am
