    This is one of the best videos of this type I have seen. Showing what you used for supplies, stating capacities, and giving torque specs is awesome

    Good video, I’ll put one tip in from am old mechanic I knew years ago. Always pull the fill cap first. Two reasons : 1) it can help vent the case for a faster drain, even though the case is vented. And 2) and this is the important one, it assures that you CAN get the full cap off…sometimes a fill cap is just plain stuck and if you drain it first you have no oil in the case. If you need to use the vehicle while you figure out how to get the cap out you’re kinda screwed. By pulling the fill cap first, if it won’t come out, you still have the oil in the case should you need to use the vehicle while you look for a solution.

      I’ve never thought about that. I always did the fill cap last to slow the flow down at first just to make sure I have my pan in a good spot. Then once it’s draining into the pan pull the cap. But I’ll definitely keep that in mind from now on!

      @@TexasEmpire you can break the fill cap loose and place it back in the hole to slow the flow, at least you’ll know the cap will come off.
      Many times, mostly on old vehicles, the fill plug is way over tightened or cross threaded and THATS where the problem mostly comes from. On newer vehicles we see plastic more and more, and they can get distorted and tough to remove, especially over time. It’s not a do or die thing, just some good advise passed on by an old timer mechanic.

    First off thank you for the video, I came looking for a how to after being quoted $1700 for the 1st service on my 22 Mule Pro FXT. Just to be clear these are the only 3 fluid changes needed? I’m new to this.

    Thanks for the video… I have one question for you. Was there a particular reason you bought the gear oil with the limited slip additive? I couldn’t find anywhere in the manual where it says to use, just a “ APG - 5 rating” correct? I’m not well versed in the reasonings anyway. So just wondering if it is just a preference/price reasoning? Thanks-

    • @TexasEmpire
      @TexasEmpire  Před 3 lety +1

      Limited slip is not necessary. The stuff I found that met the other requirements just happened to have it.

    Howdy from College Station. I just bought the same machine and I’m getting everything I need for the first service. How did you figure out the WIX filter works? I went to their website, put in the make and model info, but it only showed a part number for an air filter.

    • @TexasEmpire
      @TexasEmpire  Před 2 lety +2

      There’s a oil filter cross brand thing you can google and put the oil number your vehicle has on it or whatever part number you know and it will populate brands and their part numbers. Not gonna lie with this one though I stole it from another video.

    I have a 2022 and the front diff drain plug doesn't have a magnet. Is this normal?

    • @TexasEmpire
      @TexasEmpire  Před rokem +1

      From my knowledge it should. They may have changed it up some since I bought mine. I’d call the Kawasaki house and ask. The magnet definitely serves a good purpose being in a diff

    So they don't have to do a valve adjustment

    • @TexasEmpire
      @TexasEmpire  Před 3 lety +3

      So this is a touchy subject. There is no valve adjustment on these engines. They are hydraulic lifters. Now they do and can check valve lash but if it’s off they have to do a rebuild. So in my situation. If it was off I would have noticed it by sound and performance. And then I would have taken it do the dealer to do it under warranty.

    • @RPG-oh1yf
      @RPG-oh1yf Před 3 lety +2

      That's a warranty caveat probably written by lawyers. It's almost unheard of to need to do anything about valve specs unless the engine is already damaged.

  • @RPG-oh1yf
    @RPG-oh1yf Před 3 lety

    That 20 hour differential change is just silly. 3:10 Look how clean that oil was! The 20 hour change is only in there just in case there were a factory defect, it makes most people bring it into the dealer at 20 hours so they can "fix" any issues before it results in an expensive warranty claim. Differential oil should last a LONG time if you don't submerge your machine.
