I love that Steve just listens. You'll never hear him interrupt, and he doesn't get scared of a silent pause while he and the guest think. He is so good at interviewing.
Yep. He’s relaxed
Brian is the epitome of class & kindness & talent & intelligence.
@Nigel Day me too
@@NYCgirl927 takes boring to another level
@@johnryanm7553 Thanks for entertaining me
@@NYCgirl927 my pleasure
@@johnryanm7553 Why would you get pleasure out of insulting someone you do not know & know nothing about. I would have rather had a nice exchange about Queen & Brian May. Your need to insult me & display vitriol says everything about you & nothing about me. Is your life so bad it pleasures you to try to insult me. That is sad & pathetic.
I don't think I've ever seen Brian May more comfortable in an interview.
He is very comfortable. The other interview in which he just really enjoys himself is with Rick Wakeman, who, like Jonesey, is a smart guy and a musician.
I think Steve has that style and effect on these stars. No BS.
Yeah, Jonesy always puts his guests at ease, no matter who it is.
That’s right. Jonesy ‘s definitely got a knack for this interviewing lark. He gets everybody at ease. Plus he’s a living legend himself.
@@Brewzerr the word is "avuncular"
I love the way Jonesy get's one of the most legendary guitars players in the history of rock in...and talks about milk, space, and badgers. 😂
I listen to Brian May and I feel that we still have hope!!
Christo Guichard Jones is not a guitar geek.
Knowing Brian those are exactly the topics I'd have expected ;-)
Milk in the space of a lady’s badger 😂
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
Brian May is such a true gentleman and lovely person. He's also one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Amazing.
Agreed. He really shines in Queens recordings
Bit of a boring twatt if you ask me
True
He is one of the most famous guitarists, but not the greatest. Not even top 100.
@@davidmacdonald1695 Ha! You really are a funny guy. Have a lovely day. 🎸
I'm so glad these two guys got together, anarchy and monarchy. LOL
Mary Lee Sweetly put. Ty.
Two men from very different backgrounds united in rock.
rolf ba
Oh Mary Lee, I couldn't have put it better. Two real legends. Lovely guys too. Rock on.
Two of my favorite guitarists, for two completely different reasons. The thing they share in common that initially drew me to them was their individual tone. Jonesy had this big, powerful tone that always sounded (to me) like his guitar was cussing. I don’t know how else to describe it. I used to call it “the wall of fuck”, haha! And Brian just had that great mid-range Vox tone that cut right through. Great to see these two guitar heroes of mine together.
Gentle Brian May cares about animals - PhD in astrophysics - guitarist with one of the greatest rock bands in history - Great man 😊
We should all care about animals. Everyone
I care about animals and still eat them. @@gmar7836
Do animals care about other animals?
@@joblo6173 yeah they care about eating their flesh
Brian May: total hero. He should a role model for all people on how to think, live and how to treat each other. He's a beautiful person.
Ben -as is Jonesy, is he’s a really good hearted fella (other than being a Chelsea supporter) who had a difficult childhood, very difficult childhood, and turned out to be a decent fella. Funny as hell, and I think he’s found his niche as a radio host, even though he was responsible for helping to create a whole movement and his own distinct style of guitar I can hear a guitar and I know it’s Steve Jones right away!
I'll keep eating meat, thanks; I don't want to waste away. May looks unhealthy; so does the other dude.
absolutely agree. Brian is WONDERFUL
💕💕💕
He iS my role model like he's my damn motivation like I don't want to disappoint him even though he doesn't know me LMAOO.
Two Gods of rock discussing their weakness for goat cheese.
It is wonderful isn't it.
@@Ryan-jc6we If it was just about cheese I would agree, but they discussed several different and varied subjects.
You ought to listen to James hetfield talking about bee keeping!!!!!
OMG ROFL
A legendary guitarist, an underrated song writer, a member of one of the best bands in history, a PhD in astrophysics, and a gentleman.
I'm envious of him.
He's 71 (living on borrowed time). No reason to be envious. Get your PhD in astrophysics and be a gentleman.
@@DaysOfDarknessUK.... We are all living on borrowed time, because we are all going to die eventually. He only meant that Brian is over 70, and at the tail end of his life. Unless you think Brian is immortal.
N Wibawa , Brian May is pretty smart too 😀
MrLaverybugsy78 😂
By far one of the best ever in the business.
Steve is a very, very good interviewer. He has that rare ability...the naive enquirer, to create an environment where people just open up and talk about all manner of stuff. One of the best. Really interesting.
Well said!
Good stuff mate.
Louis Theroux has a similiar effective 'naive' interview technique to build mutual trust...
I know what you mean although I'm not sure he's naive. It's just that there's no agenda behind his questions, it feels genuine and non judgemental so people can feel safe about opening up.
With Louis Theroux he plays naive but he's always got an agenda and is waiting for his interviewee to trip themselves up. And it is great tv but it's different to Jonesy which feels genuinely more relaxed.
@@kiwisoup1301 So basically cunning Theroux is playing a naive journalist whilst Jonesy is being his genuine amiably spontaneous self..?
Such a brilliant, very interesting interview with lovely, sweet, clever, talented Brian May. I love Brian's calm voice- I could listen to him forever!
It's great to see people who have done it all (and I don't mean drugs, but life and music in generell) being so calm, laid back and clever. I can't believe he just turned 70. I would love to see Bruce Dickinson on that show, who's a very intelligent, articulate and talented guy, too. Lemmy would have been great, but... And then there's Mark Knopfler, David Gilmore, Greg Graffin (Bad Religion), Jello Biafra, Nick Cave, Jimmy Page, etc. Come on, Jonesy, get 'em.
Ummm yes I want Brian May to start doing audio books!!! I would buy them all.... so weirdly soothing his voice....
Could not have made a better comment . My feelings exactly .
Hare Krishna yes they both have a Zen/Buddhist kindness and outlook on life and the cosmos 🕉👀🌙🍄⚡️❤️🌎🥋👍🌙👀🕉
I just said that too. I could listen to him all day. So calming!!
I'm glad that Jonesy's Jukebox is still going. Steve Jones is great.
Jonesy knows how to interview properly... not like 99% of other American interviewers who would raher rattle on about themselves for most of the time.... I love Brian May's attitude towards animals and the universe etc. Lovely fella. ✌💖👍
Definitely
Totally agree. The late night talk shows here in America are a good example. The fools only want to listen to themselves.
Steve Jones is English!
@@mauricioamaro5698 I agree but now James Corden is doing the same thing. Butting in monopolizing the interviews.
@@MisAnnThorpe Hey, who knew??
If only all rock musicians could be like Brian May. Actually all people.
But we need drummers too ! Every now and then….
This was one of the best interviews of the year.
Steve...You are THE BEST interviewer by far...your gift is putting folks at ease and getting them to open up...great job mate!!!
He really is the best interviewer I can think of. He lets all of his guests, no matter who they are, actually talk. Most interviewers just talk all over their guests, ask stupid irrelevant questions, and make the interview about themselves rather than the guest they’re interviewing. Jonesy is pure class.
What a fantastic interview, I could listen to Brian May for hours. Such a calm voice
yeah brian is spot on with everythin-- so caring and humble-- love how he respects the animals etc... be a sad day when brians no longer here i know that,,,,
I first got acquainted with Brian May back in 1974. Run into him in different places around the globe from time to time over the years. Funny when he says that he and Roger Taylor don't agree on much of anything... like 2 brothers. These 2 guys might disagree on many things as brothers do, but they also have that rare "sixth sense" of one another and unspoken communication like biological siblings do that permeates their 50-year relationship. And they love one another dearly. This year of 2019, Brian is 72 and Roger 70. As an acquaintance and fan, it concerns me what will happen with the one when the first passes.... beautiful guys. Genuine legends and world treasures.

Sure, you know the old fool brian may. How was brunch with him today...has he done something about that ridiculous hair yet? Any chance you can upload the video of you and him playing golf weekly? Fuck outtah here, ya muppet.
hyena131 Get a life, you absolute git.
Damn dude hate much, you sound a little jealous. Let me guess Justin Bieber fan,? How about F@&k you dude!
Brian May looks like he'd be Jimmy Page's brother.
Legend!
Jonsey is the new king of L.A ...r.i.p Lemmy
Sometimes, when I need a lift, I just come back and listen to this conversation with these two remarkable men. Good wishes to and gratitude for them both!
My head exploded when he said he'd just passed the 70 mark, I always think of him as early 50's, still very sharp
Always? Did you only become a fan in the late 90's?
Brian May is a gem. God bless him!
Brian May is a really cool guy. His range outside of Queen is worth noting. Really like his take on diet. Very smart man. Much respect for him.
A cool guy, yes but please don't force hippy vegan ideals on the rest of us.
My favorite description of him was "Brian May is Jimmy Page with class." Always made me laugh because it kind of fits, not that Page has no class, but his playing can be a bit more raw.
Puppy 1975 - some could see your remark as ‘forcing’ your ideal about this interview. It’s an interview and Jonsey took the interview in that direction. Simple - but not easy for all us with thin skin (pretty well all of humanity). Sharing my ‘ideal’ for what it’s worth.
hadmyfill he said please ...
Roger Taylor has serious balls answering that advert with that level of swagger.
He is a seriously brilliant drummer though - one of the world's greatest
I don't think he quite rises to the level of Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell or Keith Moon, though. He's a solid drummer, no doubt, but I think Roger's value to Queen is as much more than "just" a drummer. Good drummer, GREAT singer, amazing songwriter.
He can say whatever he wants....I’m very loyal 😘❤️ because I’m sort of in love with 1977 Roger
I'm in love with him from the I Want To Break Free video. He's super-hot in that.
Victoria Jones I’m in love with his falsetto, especially Lap of the Gods, Rainbow Room 74
Went through several of these over the past 3 hours, starting with Sparks and X. Really pleased to stumble on them. Now a new found fan of Brain May. What a wonderful guy. And hats off to them both for going vegetarian, being compassionate toward animals. Picking up some Queen vinyl later today as a result.
here here ! wonderfyl people--clever and funny-- yeah get the queen catalogue on vinyl- the bollox ! cheers
Brain May is the best spelling mistake I have seen for ages! The man surely has brains!
Back in 1984 I was staying in the Parker Meridian Hotel in New York and when the elevator doors opened to take me down for breakfast the whole of Queen (except for Freddie Mercury) was standing there. Then, a few hours later I bumped into them all again in a camera shop, two great moments for me. And then last week I bumped into Bill Wyman in a cafe in the King's Road (New Year's Eve 2019).
I could listen to Brian's soothing voice all day long. Just a great pick me up at the end of a long day.
I'm a huge Brian May fan. I have loved the guy's music and guitar technique for as long as I can remember.
Big fan of both guitarists who come from very different musical approaches.Interesting chat and while Brian May and Steve Jones might at first glance be a bit of an odd pairing there was a good chemistry between them. Loved how it got really philosophical at the end as they discussed physics and the universe.
Yes, Steve Jones is a really good interviewer IMO. Even people I'm not into I find I'm happy to listen to when being interviewed by Steve.
Loved this interview. Two of my all time favorite musicians. Thank you, Steve and Brian.
I could watch these two guys chatting for weeks.... great stuff.
Steve, you found your niche in being able to talk to other rockers besides being a true rocker yourself man. You being on a level where someone like Brian May feels comfortable talking about everything. I'm really glad you're doing this now. Glad your health is up to the task and hope you plug on for years.
I had no idea Brian May was so interesting.
And to be honest this is the first Jones interview that's gone longer than 10 minutes that I've watched from start to finish .
I love a person who knows they know nothing.
Interesting!? I thought he was a boring old tosser
These men are humbled by age. They have done it all. They get philosophical.Good for them

Hahaha you fecker!
What a Class Act! And that's both of them. Legends that defined the 70's from their perspectives. It was great to be there, hear them and go along with them for the ride!
Enjoy listening to Brian giving interviews. He is such a wonderful person & explains everything so well & makes sure everyone understands what is going on. Thank you for sharing all that you are doing & going through. Sending much well wishes to such a terrific person. Love & hugs to a great man.
What a beautiful interview. Two of my favorite bands meeting in such a coincidental way. They can still get along all these years later!
Great to see Brian relaxed in this interview.
I really enjoyed this chat.
I never thought I'd live to see the day that Steve Jones likes being in nature and helping people...lol
WOW
Such a treat for a music lover, two of the most interesting people in music,

Now look, how they respect each other,
Really brilliant video,
Thanks
Jesus Christ! Brian May is "just past 70"?! Can't believe it! When we were kids, did 70-year-olds run about an electric stage playing loud rock and roll with long hair and designer pants? These oldies today!
He looks good for 70
@@torp7215 -- Dude, when we were kids, the Rolling Stones were just in their 40s...
I don't live in LA anymore, but when I did, I couldn't get enough of Mark and Brian. Best radio show in the world. As a former punker, nothing like seeing Steve Jones and and Brian May, two legends.
I love Brian May...very smart man
May is such a dissembler
An amazing conversation! Thanks for posting this.
What a lovely chap, that Brian May. Jonesy, you're no slouch, either. This is a really interesting musical discussion between two London blokes who can look so far back and share lots of stories from the glory days of that 70s music scene and beyond!
my two favourite guitarists!!!!
Brian is a most wonderful human being, highly educated, ultra compassionate and a musician beyond compare. Truly wonderful :-) x
Cant believe I didn't hear about this radio show earlier. Jones is such a great interviewer. Looking forward to binge through all the episodes :)
I sang to Freddy back in 1988, I was working on a roof opposite his house. He was in his garden. We sang we are the champions, Freddy joined in ....a great memory.
I removed an ancient and original ’ Thomas Crapper ‘ style toilet pan in an old office in Hythe which had been owned by Lawrence of Arabia - and re fitted it in a bungalow a few doors up from Pennington Club...and my mate did his Lenny Henry impression to Tony Blackburn ( in 1st class ) on a train on the way to see Motörhead in Southampton. No Freddie in our neck of the woods unfortunately 🙄🐢
Great rock 'n roll talk!!! Observable + infinite universes, Drake Equations, interplanetary life and as Steve says most see god as "some bloke who looks like Father Christmas and lives in the clouds"..... BRILLIANT STUFF! LOVED IT...... Then onto Mott the 'Oople at 'Ammersmiff in '76 !! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!! 2 guys from different rock 'n' roll worlds; but we're all brothers and sisters in ROCK!!
This is my favorite episode of Jonesy's Jukebox, which is quite the statement.
SPOILERS: It made me so happy that they followed a very serious discussion about science and the unknown (as a personal and universal concept) with the final thought being that Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople are really cool. A+ video, thank you Jonesy for all the years of your great radio show (and video podcast).
Please have Vic Godard on the show someday, Jonesy!
Damn, May looks great for a bloke in his 70s.
brian may is a very intellectual guy and a strong individual. seriously speaking.
That was time well spent rock legend gents!
I was at a Hunter/Ronson gig in the 80's when Brian came on stage and played along with them, and on another occasion Roger came on and played Kind of Magic ... Outstanding days.. loved Ronsons' sound n style ..as distinctive as Brians' sound ..
That is a hella good of an interview. You could tell Brian's got his guard down.
Just show's how great an interviewer Steve is . Has that knack of making people feel at ease. No BS. I'm addicted to his interviews.
An entertaining and interesting conversation. A lot has changed after all these years. Bands like Queen and the punk movement seemed worlds apart in the 70s. Queen managed to get through that period, but a lot of similar, lesser known bands didn't. The same thing happened for instance to Jazz musicians when Rock 'n' Roll broke through.
Really enjoyed this interview. Thanks
Brian is a classy gentleman.
Who keeps coming back to this interview given recent times? This is like the 10th time I've watched it! I'm not a hardcore fan of either's music but I just think this conversation is class.
Brian May saying "I'm no virtuoso" is equivalent to Dr. Brian May saying "The Earth is flat"
Is it just me, or does Brian May absolutely carry this interview?
No
not only you
You don't get it you IDIOT. The brilliance of Steve Jones is that he gives his guests space to talk
....unlike all these worthless interviewers who talk over their fucking guests all the time
Steve let's him talk. That's his style and thank fuck to. Far too often the interviewer doesn't allow guest's to talk & flow.
John Smith - Exactly. Thank you.
Brian is such a nice bloke, real intellectual but gotta love Jonesy too he's a true natural interviewer great perception - can watch him all day
Sat with him on a flight decades ago. Absolutely lovely person. Gracious and humble.
this whole conversaton is what Internet was invented for! what a joy to listen to this lovely chat!
Dr. May maybe older but he seems youthful to me. Getting older, most people start to age on their hands, his arms and hands look youthful. He is always active with great music, projects, and his research/academics. I've always been interested in him going beyond his music, maybe because I share the doctor title with him. He makes me smile! 😊
god how can you see and hear brian smile and laugh without grinning yourself. its not possible my heart is so FULL i love this man so much!!

Both my parents are also 70 and they no longer talk about anything like this.
Brian is a genius and yet so humble.
Wasn't feeling the video title though turned out to be a very enjoyable conversation up there with Joe Rogan's best guests. Had it on in the background while doing chores and caught May's reasoning on food sourcing which was compelling without going full ideological sledgehammer. Great recollections, humour and humility throughout by two icons who might have been on different pages back in the day 👍
