- In today's video I am back at Dick Lovett Ferrari, Swindon. I am looking at my very recently acquired 430 Scuderia and comparing it with the garden variety F430, as well as a 360 Challenge Stradale. How do they compare, and what did Ferrari do to create the lighter, faster Scuderia?

Who loves buying a new to them used car then researching all the spec changes across trim levels specs and facelifts. Know I do.
Me
Lol 😆 lol 😆 hilarious.
I reaply like the orange side blinkers, they really give the car a timeless, "stylistically dirty" touch, like the mole on Marilyn Monroe's face. Shame they don't install them anymore.
@@DavidColex Dude, you're crazy! 😆😆
@@keithjackson4985 A lot of Ferrari owners are too :)
I've now a new found respect and admiration for the 430 Scuderia. Great buy!
Thanks Ian - I am the same, didn't realise how much went into it until I started doing research on it
Before considering an in-built stereo, I would be looking at a bluetooth speaker. With no sound deadening you're going to spend a fortune getting anything built in to sound passable.
Exactly... and why the car currently has a Bluetooth speaker in the door!
@@JayEmmOnCars you could get at set of bt speakers that can pair up to give you stereo. And you can still remove them if you want to play racing driver :)
Noise cancelling headphones for when you want a break from Pavarotti the engine than trying to compete with 105db
who needs a bluetooth speaker if you can straight pipe the exhaust ;)
Who needs music anyway when you have that engine in the back?
Well, Jay, I am intrigued. And very happy for you. The colour, the stance, the whole look of the car is absolutely perfect. It calls to be driven, in every way, as - I hope - a beloved workhorse.
Isn't it great! And, he's already put over 2500 miles on it. It's being driven! 😁
Funny the 430 Scud was one of my absolute favorite cars mostly because of the racey interior, exhaust note, and weight savings, but now it's totally overshadowed by the F430 in manual.
That clip at the end, its a proper motorsport sound! Sounds exactly how I remember the GT2s. I think the really fast SCTs sound way cooler than DCTs.
Massive congrats Jay. Truly a once in a lifetime achievement. Colour combo with the wheels works really well. Thanks for this video, a lot of details I didn't know. Enjoy the new motor, look forward to the driving video 🙌🏻
The “track” mid-engine Ferraris have always been my favorite models.
They all rock!
The F40 is one of my favorite cars to ever exist.
@@BM-di4cuas a collector piece sure but as a car I’d want to drive? 430 Scud all day. I actually passed an F40 in the wild on Father’s Day on the way to my parents. Now THAT was a surprise. Seeing a 918 a few days later was just like “Meh”.
@@JoJoJoker id be surprised if I saw any hypercar the only one I've ever seen was the mclaren P1 press car (the one used in all the reviews such as the first episode of the grand tour)
812 GTS has entered the chat
The Scud is hands down the better looking car. Especially in ominous grey.
Agreed.
Agreed.
Wow Jay! What a wonderful Ferrari you purchased. It's great to see what hard work can produce. Enjoy your new car.
F430 is such a good bargain. I love the body lines, just timeless.
Thanks for the geekery J, it's the little details that make the difference! Can't wait for the next review!
Congratulations Jay! What a beauty! Would’ve had the wheels in anthracite myself, but I wouldn’t pass up on the car for the gold!
Really good video Jay, didn’t realise there was so many subtle differences. Best of luck with her!
Thank you for the video. Both satisfying & informative. All the best.
Great video, James! Very informative. Thank you. Enjoy your new motor! It looks absolutely stunning! Good work! 👍
The detail explanation was enlightening, please continue this on other models… keep up the great videos….
Thank you very much! I've been looking for exactly this video while researching my dream garage.
Thanks for sharing Jay, and let me wish you many many happy fun-filled miles of driving in your stunningly beautiful new toy. Everything about it, the colour, the car's stance, it's wheels, the sumptuous...if a little sparse...interior, and that rear end too, are simply gorgeous.
Great informative video, Jay. That closing flyby though...OOF!! 😎
CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so glad you acquired this car! It's absolutely wonderful!! And couldn't have landed with a better guy!!👍👍
Superb Video James. Most informative. Will add to the enjoyment of your lovely car. It's a great spec too!
I viewed the collection on Ant’s channel with his son, that was a very captivating experience that shows true friendship. Nice one James
Awww thanks! Glad you enjoyed. It was a special day and real honour to be a part of it.
5:12 Reducing air pressure within the crankcase also reduces air friction losses caused by moving part (crankshaft, conrods, pistons) From an ICE engineer loving your videos.
Ah, makes sense - thankyou!
Great comparison, nice to see you so upbeat , enjoy!
Loved it, thanks for the in depth vid 👍🏻
Fantastic video. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations Jay:
Truly a beautiful choice and definitely mine as well. Love the mid engine view with all that lovely carbon fibre as well as the lower, aggressive stance to point out just a couple of features I love. The colour is gorgeous and it’s music to my ears knowing you’ll be using this car to its fullest and that she’s not just going to be sitting in a collection somewhere. These cars are very special and should be driven as I know we are in full agreement with this point… and on that note my friend…
Stay safe, enjoy the view from behind the wheel, and I can’t wait to see you both out in the wild in your upcoming video.
Thanks for the excellent content.
Cheers from 🇨🇦😎
Thanks Chris, I hope the next video delivers for you!
Happy driving 👍 (love the wheels)
Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Great video! lovely car you have there. Notice the headlight covers need a refurb inside, I have the same issue. Get that done and it’ll be MINT!!
Jay, I went from 550 to F430. Curious to hear your long term review. Totally different cars but both brilliant! Enjoy
I fell in love with Avio blue Scud that was in Topgear magazine. I also loved the review that Harry’s Garage did on the manual swapped F430
Very nice overview and impressive technicals on the aero gains without a big wing.
You've had some awesome cars over the years. Well done sir.
Quality video too.
Congrats on your buy! The Scud is absolutely lovely
You snagged a beauty…great colour and what you’ve done with the wheels is great. I just bought a manual silver F430 coupe with carbon buckets and love it and it’s so immersive without auto/paddles. Having been a Porsche man for 20+ years, including 993’s, 997’s, Turbo S etc I’m loving the whole Ferrari experience, it’s addictive. No wonder you bought two!
Interesting and very informative especially on the technical stuff.
Awesome vid thanks J!
Perfect timing! I've taken interest in possibly picking one of these up!
You bought my dream car from my bedroom wall posters as an adolescent. Soon it will be my turn
Very informative. 👍🏻 Thank you
congrats! my dream car the scud! cant wait to learn more about the daily life use and running costs from you
Congrads on this new very special car. Enjoyed all the details in this video.
Thanks a lot for the video! Would it be possible to make a video on the exact difference between CT OFF and CST OFF on the Scud? Great purchase have fun!!
Love the geekiness if this! Awesome work! 👌
I own one of these lengendary helmets… with grey stripes matching the stripes on my (rosso corsa) 🚗 car…
That's cool. 😎
That's very cool
Cool video, it was very interesting, thanks for sharing this info
Jay - Monster well done on getting one, there are simply outstanding cars. and also, very good post too. I have one, simply awesome edge of seat old school driving. I'm not a millionaire, just love driving.
Loving these scud videos. Hoping to purchase one next year!
I don't know, that radio delete panel on the dash looks unbelievably cool and the music of that engine may be the only radio you'll ever need. Worse case scenario go with a cup shaped blue tooth speaker in a cup holder.
I'll never ever forget that review of Jeremy Clarkson when he drove the Scuderia! That's when I first fell in love with Ferraris!
Ferraris...
@@resnonverba137 Thanks! ✌️🤣😅
@@JohnAgustinScuderia458595 Pleasure. Have a good day :)
I think I first fell in love with them when I saw his 355 review. But the F50 really solidified that love.
Your new car is lovely James, can't wait to see you driving it. Are those headlights a bit cloudy or is it me?
Great upload 👌
Congrats Jm... Love the car... imo, lots nicer than a red one... It looks lovely.
I gotta say man, That is one fine looking car in that color from the back. 2:40
Grats again. Cheers
I drove the first customer sold 360 in the UK and couldn't fit 2 size 91/2 Timberland boots in the footwell!
I wasn't keen on the F430 when it first came out as it looked a bit like a lazy update of the 360 but in grey and with the subtle changes yours has definitely has over timed morphed into a thing of beauty. 👍
Wonderful car! Great to see how some graphical changes can completely alter the car. Love the 'sharp' front bumper. Way more modern than the F430. By pointing out all the changes I started appreciating this car a lot!!
I’ve been thinking about selling my CS for a scuderia, I do like them loads. Nice buy congrats 👏
Love the drive by outro!
Huge congrats 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm so happy for you James, you're like a kid in a candy shop. Really hope you enjoy your new car.
What a car, looking forward to seeing and hearing more videos.
Congratulations. The scud is my halo car. I got a passenger ride in one years ago in my early teen round a circuit in France. Was a silver Rhd with strips Never been in anything close to that cornering speeds since. It blasted pass everything on the circuit f40s enzos the lot. It danced.
Best of luck in your ownership. Hard work works 👏💪
That's a lovely specs inside and outside!
I love the car, colour and spec, nice choice!
Great video. Looks like the 430S needs a headlight restoration!
Congratulations, beautiful car! If you do fit a stereo in the future and no longer need the Ferrari badged radio blanking plate, feel free to get in touch, I would be interested in buying that. Cheers Simon.
The look aged very well I think. Excellent buy Jay.
Haha I love how you said "the current LaFerrari", that thing hasn't been current in years already.
I didn't know 430 Scuderias are so overlooked lol, the first time I saw a blue one on the cover of Autocar magazine I fell in love with it.
Excellent informative video thks, speaking as someone who has owned all 3 cars for many years, the only one I have left is the F430 Spider, with carbon brakes and carbon seats. You will unfortunately never make a SCUD sound great due to the shorter exhaust system and the CS whilst the best looking is definitely is in need of bigger capacity engine with some torque
Main diff from Sud to the normal F430 was that the big Scheuy was involved in its develorpment. And it shows at its handling.
I am a proud owner of 430 straddle. For a fact I have two! Luck me. Thanks to Bburago!
I really like the look of the gold wheels.
Well done James on the purchase of your 2nd Ferrari. I personally love the colour combination of the grey paint and good wheels.
Congrats! Beautiful spec. These are going for well over 450k AUD here in Australia so owning one will remain (for me at least) a distant pipe dream! 😅
Love the car sir, and actually a first for me, the shirt too!
congratulations on a stunning acquisition.
Id love to have a shot at owning the 430 Scud. Such a beautiful work of art, though i love the F430 front bumper, id see if i can customize that when the day comes.
5:02 (nerdy) Fluid dynamics. Oil is no featherweight and if you can minimize the resistance to the flow that is encountered by the oil, it will flow with less effort. That is all the less work for the pumps to do, hence they can vampire less energy out of the engine, plus it flows faster, allowing for faster engine rotation speed (revs).
Co-ordinating the shirt with the wheels is a master stroke
Very interesting video. Would be lovely if you managed to compare the differences/similarities with a 458.
When’s the first drive! That’s what we’re all waiting for ☺️
One of my fav Ferrari’s! Not in grey, but personal preference. The 360 front ends looks so dopey next to it.
Grey would not be my preference either, but I may have been waiting a long time for my ideal Scud!
Lovely Jubbly James, you lucky chap.
Who knew that mere moments away, DL would show its careless (read 'cheap') side and produce a less-than-reputable pre-delivery on your 430...the shine was still on when you put this video in the can.
It certainly was
Thank you for wearing something that matches your rims…at least now i wont get distracted by your shirt and can focus on your video…unfortunately over here the scuderia cost 3 times more than a normal 430…hence i will only dream of getting the normal version….nonetheless very informative content…:)
Personally I wouldn’t fit a stereo I’d be perfectly happy with the engines soundtrack in a car like this
Great looking car….enjoy…👍
She looks fab, love the rear hips and tail area, good luck with it
im never going to be able to afford a 430 scuderia (if I even wanted one) but thanks for providing all of that information
It’s the one I’d have (those Pistas do look good tho) and the one I bought the brochure for. I’m sure Porsche use wings for all sorts of reasons and iirc Ferrari we’re not allowed for the road cars at that time. Lovely car, great spec.
Who needs a stereo with the soundtrack of that V8 😲😉😁
fire extinguisher standard???...😁😁...should also do a tour of that dealership
I’ve spent a week watching a lot of your videos !!!!
Why haven’t you got a job on Top Gear !!!
Your knowledge and videos are really really really good !!!!!
You should do a video doing a long road trip around Europe that would be epic
If possible, please can you do more in-depth reviews and comparisons of track focused variants. These are very interesting and surprisingly relaxing.
I will when I can!
@@JayEmmOnCars much appreciated 👍
At least in the US, the carbon in the engine bay was only standard on the 2009 versions - earlier cars much of it was optional.
Best of luck, she's a beaut 👍👏👏👍👍
From a fellow owner, congrats. The reasons you cited are exactly why I own a Scud. More raw and rare than a Speciale and faster and better looking than a CS. The Goldilocks special variant.
Thanks! I hope to try and raise some awareness for this overlooked car
