  • New Tradition is a bluegrass outfit that is firmly rooted in the gospel. The group came together in the early '80s with the intention of remaining a regional phenomenon. However, New Tradition soon found itself playing 200-plus shows a year and moving numerous copies of their albums. Over the years, the group has included: Danny Roberts, a songwriter, mandolin player, and bass vocalist; Richie Dotson on banjo and vocals; Sand Springs, OK, native Jamie Clifton on guitar and tenor singing; Daryl Mosely, a bassist and lead singer (who also pastored at a Southern Baptist Congregation near Nashville for a time and wrote for Ronnie Milsap's publishing company); and late-period member Aaron McDaris, a banjo player who had previously played with the band Second Exit. I saw these guys in the late 90's at a small bluegrass festival. They were fantastic. They are one of my all time favorites. For me they rank right up there with IIIrd Tyme Out. I sure wish they were still playing together.

    1. Someone rolled the stone away, was it a thief?
    No, it was an angel.
Mary said, "He lives again. Do you believe?"
    Yes, He is my Savior.
Thomas was a doubter until he saw for himself.
Jesus even let him touch the spear hole in His side.
    CHORUS:
He is risen, He is risen. Yes, my Lord is risen today.
    There are linens with bloodstains,
    That is all that remains
There's no body left in that grave.
(He is risen) - repeat at end only
    2. "Tear this temple down," He said, "and in three days,
    I, I will rebuild it."
Jesus had to die before we all could be saved.
That is how God willed it.
Those who had Him crucified thought He had seen His end.
They did not know the cross could be His victory.
    CHORUS: twice
