      That's great, Jeff! Another thing that could help with jaw joint pain is giving yourself a slight underbite (just 2-4 mm of jutting your jaw forwards). It should barely be noticeable if at all to anyone but you. What it does it relieve stress on the jaw joint if you have a jaw that is slightly too far set back as is the case for a lot of people. I also got rid of my jaw's clicking sound when I started to work out my jaw muscles with chewing gadgets. And I bet the extra musculature does help in keeping the mouth closed during the days and nights, further benefiting jaw health.

It doesn’t even hurt when l press in front of my ears where it used to be quite painful. I remember going to the doctors and asking about the pain in my jaw and l was told it was arthritis causing it.
      I also thought in the last year of practicing bringing my jaw bite forward. It is possible for me, but uncomfortable. Would it help?
      I don’t know!
      I did practice got a while the movie star smile as l call it. Showing top and bottom teeth. It’s an effort to bring the haw forward and smile big by showing my bottom teeth as well as top teeth.

    This works perfectly, since I'm a child I was told I was suffering from a deviated septum and I had nose surgery like 9 years ago, but I'd always find myself breathing from one side or other side, sometimes fully clogged, sometimes I could breath normally, I did it as Patrick said, for around 10 min I went nasal breathing only before and after the exercises and I can tell right now that both of my nasal nostrils circulate air like they should, I can fully breath through my noses for more time, definitely something worth learnt! How would you have got it fixed? This idea that they can just snap the septum back in place within a week is weird to me. It doesn't account for the inner structural damage. That's more of a cosmetic fix. If you're talking about correcting it surgically, there's no guarantee that this will unblock the passageway/s -- and it may not be a permanent fix (could re-deviate within a few years). It's better not to injure the nose, obviously. Unlike other bones and cartilidge, the nose is so sophisticated that it cannot just heal itself. I don't know how fighters fight. All of them must be damaged in terms of breathing, sense of smell, illness, etc. There's no way they're bringing those things back to their original functioning after one or two hits, let alone a half dozen. They should be bringing light to the dangers of this. You don't see much about the preservation of the nose in our culture, and probably because it's big $$$$.

The only problem about breathing threw the nose was getting punched in the face, snot, blood.. Difficult juggle sometimes. I just can't get that deep satisfying breath when I'm breathing through my mouth. I'm sure my symptoms are not as severe as others on this thread and I've never seen an ENT but I do have a very narrow nose and breathing through the right nostril has been a long time struggle. This really helped. Even if only temporary. It's worth a try for anyone who might be skeptical. I might even buy the book. Thanks Doc!

    I have always been a mouth breather since childhood due to a frequently blocked nose (probably through irritation caused by dust from our coal fire as it subsided slightly after getting central heating). As a septogenarian suffering from Tracheitis cough & recurring nose stuffiness I would liike to be able to breathe through my nose but since I suffer from SVT ( heart palpitations) I find I don't get enough oxygen when I try to breathe just through my nose - measuring my oxygen levels when mouth breathing show they are normal- & sometimes my heart rate kicks off. Have you any suggestions how I might be able to do your exercises without causing this problem as I am sure nose breathing would help alleviate the problems in my windpipe.

    Patrick, I appreciate what you're doing with this very important issue. I've watched your vid 3 X times now, and tried this a few times, w/ mixed results. I'm writing to request more specific direction as to the exercise. 1st step, check, small breath in and small breath out, then pinch nostrils. I understand the next step, walking around, will vary w/ each person (waiting to feel hunger for another breath), but about how long should this take? And "then let go and breathe in through your nose" and "Rest a minute with normal breathing" please provide specifics. i.e. should we go for deep breaths, if normal breathing is through the mouth, should be we breathe that way?

    • @OxygenAdvantage
      @OxygenAdvantage  Před 3 lety +6

      Hi, Abby. Normal breathing is not through the mouth, you should always breathe through the nose, both during the inhale and exhale. Here is the nose unblocking exercise explained in detail: Take a small, silent breath in and a small, silent breath out through your nose. Pinch your nose with your fingers to hold your breath. Walk as many paces as possible with your breath held. Try to build up a large air shortage, without overdoing it. When you resume breathing, do so only through your nose. Try to calm your breathing immediately. You should be able to recover normal breathing within 2-3 breaths. Constant nasal breathing. If your breathing is erratic or heavier than usual, you have held your breath for too long. Wait for a minute or two before repeating the breath hold. Repeat this exercise five or six times until the nose is
      decongested.

    I really want to believe you that this process will eventually work. However, I have been trying this method for about 3 weeks and I still have to try the nasal decongestion method 30 times a day or more. After doing the method, my nose is only clear for a couple minutes then I have to once again labor with continuous concentration to pull air through my nose to breath. After about 15 minutes I can't keep it up and my nose has started to fully clog. I have sever rhinitis and I literally can barely pull air through my nose. Even with large nasal dilators like the Turbino, I still can't breath through my nose. I don't have a deviated septum, its just purely rhinitis. Occasionally everything work like its supposed to and I can breathe through both nostrils, but 80% of the day I can't. I also have pretty bad nasal collapse, so doing intense physical exercise and solely breathing through my nose is super difficult, loud, irritating, ineffective, etc. etc. I'm trying everything I can to fix my sinuses, and I was hoping this was the cure! Unfortunately it hasn't been.

      @@dan27music Hi Dan, thanks for the advice. As I mentioned above months ago, I was eating KETO and eliminated wheat from my diet for months. I still had rhinitis daily. Having moved past KETO to explore other food-associated issues, nothing changed/improved. I even did visit an Allergist MD who told me that I did not have any food allergies and an allergy to wheat expresses itself rather immediately, which I do not have. After having stayed pretty strict with the Oxygen Advantage protocol, I have nearly (85%) cured my chronic rhinitis!! I am no longer on ANY medication and can even breath through my nose while running which is completely crazy to me. However, I still suffer from an unknown trigger to nasal congestion since it will creep up in random times throughout the day and especially at specific activities like sitting on my couch. I think I am just super sensitive to dust/pollen/dog hair/ things I tested super allergic to 5 years ago before I received 4 years of allergy shots which did not improve anything. In conclusion, I am very happy with the results of this protocol as it nearly cured my ailments. However, I think my nasal passages are still deformed like the illustration of the child with the poor nasal pathways AND have a moderate allergic reaction to most air-borne particulates which still manifests as mild rhinitis. I wear a Turbine nasal dilater at night to help open the nasal passage to breath. Oh, also I am upside down like doing a handstand in yoga, I immediately get congested in my nose and can't breath, don't know whats up with that either. Possibly my nasal passages are so small that even a change in blood pressure around them completely closes them up. Still exploring information around that issue.

      The best way to improve our breathing at night is to address our breathing during the day.
      If you mouth breathe during the day it will contribute to snoring.
      We usually advise daily functional breathing exercises in conjunction with taping the mouth at night (www.myotape.com).
      With nasal snoring mouth taping may be less effective. But improving the issue begins with practicing daily functional breathing exercises.

    • @OxygenAdvantage
      @OxygenAdvantage  Před 4 lety +6

      Hi Jing. Rhinitis - common symptoms are a stuffy nose, runny nose. For nasal problems - the only way to deal with nasal congestion is that you hold your breath until a strong air hunger. If allergic reaction with stuffy nose is present, then you need to do strong breath holds. Nasal rinse with good quality sea salt would be helpful as well as breath holding. Also, nose breathing during sleep is very important. Nose will be less stuffy if you tape up. You need to breathe through nose at all times during physical exercise. This is tough at the beginning but gets much easier.

Also, I have had a very weak sense of smell for many years, sometimes I can't smell at all, sometimes I can smell OK but even then I can't smell as well as I would like.
