What ETH did at Ajax is irrelevant. He is a proven failure at United.
Just because someone has a worse CV than he does doesn’t mean he’ll be worse at United. Ole has a worse CV than Moyes.
ETH has already demonstrated he is a failure at United, that’s the only thing that matters, not what he did in Holland.

@bengreenbank ole didn't have a worse cv than moyes. Ole had turned Molde into a back-to-back winning team, when they had never even won the league before, and won the cup with them; where moyes had won what, the second division once? (Now the europa conf league as well, but not then)
You say ETH has been a failure, was he in his first season? Where the club won the league Cup and showed huge progression from the season before? Or is it just all based on this season, and paying no mind to the severe number of bad injuries in the squad?
He certainly hasn't been a success here yet; but, it's reactionary AT THE VERY BEST, if not in fact just completely brainless, to label him a failure at this point.

United have got to learn the lesson of the last 10 years - swapping manager every couple of seasons doesn't work. They need to pick a manger, whether it's ten Hag or not, and say you've got 5 years, and here are the progress levels we expect - as long as they are realistic. You can't be expecting this United squad to be winning the Prem in the next couple of seasons, because that's just not going to happen. How many managers would have performed like that under the constant pressure EtH has been under? The reason the FA Cup final result was given as the excuse that EtH would be fired if they lost was because "INEOS Jim" was sure Utd would lose, making the decision for him, easy. Go back and look at his face when Utd scored the first goal. He wasn't the only one with the blinders on. I watched Craig Burley embarrass himself on ESPN making all kinds of excuses for the Man City performance. He didn't know what to say because he wanted so bad to put the cherry on the top on a failed Utd season in his monologue. Firing is easy when you have a scapegoat. Hiring is not so easy when you don't.

I'd argue we have two options: Get a manager "in decline" (e.g. Tuchel) or a rising one "a bit too soon" (e.g. McKenna) because the top, top managers will choose the available or soon to be available roles at currently better teams (Barcelona, Real, Bayern, etc etc).

    Tomas Tuchel: 1st 50 games - conceded 24 goals, 24 clean sheets.
    Goals scored: 2.53 gpg
    Last 50 - conceded 53 goals
Goals scored: 1.74ppg - but minus the glut of injuries and the owner literally picking players to add to the team and the guy who reports to the owner having not football experience (but he did have expertise in -- finances).
    That’s more like ten Hag.
Plus, players openly deserted him, he left his wife for a football groupie, which likely led to more player disrespect.
Also: apparently, the more Tuchel got his way to run his team, the worse Chelsea played.
