89% of PWC / Jetskies at global sales have vast issues with salt water,,even humanity has this problem with hi blood pressure,, the art of keeping the PWC in good shape is every week light maintainsnce,,,unfortunetly there's nothing to rid scale from the artorys of humans,,,it's a sodium thing you know,,,can't wait for Gibbs to turn out the Quadski XXL BMW with a nitrous oxide injection YEHA,, as for all those China brands,,your problems start from purchase. Don't buy replicas or Hyson made in China. Death traps.

Heck yeah! If you live in certain states or certain counties of certain states that allow it. Arizona, Idaho, Nevada and Utah have semi lax laws about what type of vehicles can be made street legal at least on certain roads and sometimes specific counties of some of those states. A few other mid west and western states may allow certain Atv's street legality but the state in the lower 48 that takes the cake on letting you have an Atv, utv,&/or non dual sport motorcycle become street legal is this most fantastic of states (that is great for so many other reasons to but this reason is one of the best!) is right here in my home state of Montana! It's so great all of the vehicles that they allow street legality for and it really makes it even easier and better to enjoy both the vehicles and the state itself! It's really second to none up here especially with all of the great mountain and prairie roads and Atv trails along with so many lakes of all sizes and rivers to. It's an outdoor recreational enthusiasts paradise and it's laws on what can be licensed & ridden &/or driven legally on roads it is truly unbeatable!
The major disadvantage is that it's two-wheel-drive only. Trying to transition from water to wet sand beach it would be easy to get stuck. Even if you don't touch water it wouldn't do well at all on sand.

Uses a BMW 1.3 L V6 from their biggest cruiser bike. Output of 140 HP on the jet drive. When you engage the wheels back on land, the engine derates to half power so you wont get in trouble with all that torque.

Or beach police patrol, fire dept, park rangers, game wardens, anything were the tax payers are on the hook for new toys. What the manufacturer is really counting on is snagging a lucrative military / CIA / "black ops" supply contract.

why didn't they just make it use that closed loop cooling system on water as well, I mean the Sea Doo Spark uses a closed loop cooling system with a radiator on the water then you wouldn't have to worry about salt water or fresh water.

@@WattsUpDev yeah I could just take a sea doo cooler and jam it in one of those suckers and make it closed loop cooling. Then again I've heard these are uncomfortable to ride, according to Top Gear.

@@wazup3333 yeah for real just add a closed loop like everyone else, I originally thought It looked quite comfy but according to Clarkson on top gear is was uncomfortable to ride but then again they’re a lot older than me so their standards are probably a lot higher lol

The most annoying thing about this video is that guy who keeps saying "suck those wheels up". The word you're looking for, Bob-Lee, is RETRACT.
I think what he should have said was "If you notice how big these fenders are so that these wheels can tuck up inside the fenders...."

You may understand the English language, but you don't understand marketing/impression making and the word choice used in it.
Beyond retract being a word rarely in the common lexicon, it lacks the panache of "suck." No pun intended. Look at the way the reviewer (who was likely comped for this in some manner) even stresses and lingers on the word when saying it. It's for a purpose.
I can say "retract" and have it either glossed over by those that understand the word, or thought to be some technical term by people who don't know that word.
Or I can say "suck" in its place, and everyone notices, and talks about the feature. Even yourself in your comment.
There's a lot of levels to this.

Gibbs is the manufacturer and the price of the two seater XL is around $45000 with the single seater running a few thousand less so certainly not cheap but there's a lot of technology packed into one vehicle there.

Probably not suitable for sea water though right..
People use them in the ocean just as much as they use them in lakes and rivers. There's some lifeguards around the country that use them as rescue vehicles to, they are a perfect vehicle for that role!

Usually there is a price to pay for dual functionality. I don't mean expensive, although this thing is expensive, I mean a price to pay in performance. I'll bet it is a slow, poor performing PWC and a slow, poor performing 4-wheeler. All for $50K.

Not at all, they use a standard 25x12x10 (or might even be 8 inch wide size, can't remember for sure)inch Atv tire and since all four tires need to be on the narrower side to allow for the retraction when switching to jet ski mode, you're essentially running 4 front tires instead of having wider ones on the rear like most regular Atv's would and so you'll actually save 10-20 dollars on average when you go to get a new set of four over what you would pay for a regular Atv tire swap with the wider rear set.
