  • Today, perhaps more than ever before, there is a battle for our minds. We have instant access to books, magazines, programs and podcasts. The sheer amount of information available to us at the tap of a button can be both amazing and overwhelming.
And while never before has it been possible to learn so much so quickly, what might that be doing to our walk of faith? How can we love God well when our minds are overstuffed, overwhelmed, and often distracted?
Join Today in the Word’s managing editor Jamie Janosz and devotional author Kelli Worrall for their second conversation about this month’s Bible study: Understanding the Greatest Commandment. Kelli is a professor of Communications at Moody Bible Institute and the author of our Bible study.
In Deuteronomy 6:5, God instructed His people: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Then, in Matthew 22:36-8, Jesus identified this as the Greatest Commandment-our highest calling, central purpose, and ultimate goal.
Listen in to part two of this conversation that explores how we can love God with all our mind. Please “like” this video, share on social media, and subscribe to our channel!

Correctly said, the mind the most powerful weapon

As mentioned in this video; the amount of information continuously coming @ us is intense. There is a long list of sourses of where this information comes from. I have made a conscious effort to limit some of these sourses (I have a flip-phone instead of an I-phone, I don't take my phone into certain locations like church, the gym, resturants, etc., don't watch T.V. except a few sports events, don't get on Facebook). I have some purposely built in quiet times. When I wake in the morning, I have a set aside a designated quiet time to be with the Lord, before starting the day's activities. You can make a choice of whether you want to engage in this never ending bombardment of information overload, or limit how much information you are willing to get. I don't believe I am missing out on any important thing even though I choose to set boundries on how much I will accept.

Some really great practical suggestions here! We agree that taking steps to create boundaries is so helpful in guarding our mind and heart.

Sometimes it's not easy to settle down and focus during the day, trying to study the word and doing chores etc, u am trying to be consistent in doing my devotions in the mornings. I am not a perfect example

Many of us share that struggle! Ask God to help grow your desire to make time in His Word a priority!

I'm not sure it is possible to remove all the distractions. Satan is everywhere and when we are ready to engage - he attacks. My goal is to spend some quiet time listening to scripture during my morning walk. Each day I think I make progress on walking the road on sanctification.

Morning walks are an excellent way to spend quiet time with God. We like how you compare actual "walking" with "walking the road on sanctification."
