Today we have RAINY CHRISTIAN dripping with facts about the Omega Constellation Globemaster Annual Calendar. I know that's a very long name for a watch and I was going to just put the reference in instead but THAT even is 130.33.39.21.03.001...so there really is no way to shorten it, it looks like an IP address. All in all though this hidden gem is right up there with the notorious Seamaster and Speedmaster in Omega's line up. Why is it an insane value prop? What is an annual calendar vs. a perpetual calendar? Watch the video!

I own the Globemaster with the blue dial and 18k rose gold bezel and crown, and I absolutely love it as a dressy casual or office watch. I also own a DJ41, and yes they are different. The DJ is a sporty/dressy all-a rounder while the Globemaster has a different vibe. It’s a nice add to the collection, but not the only dress watch you’ll need.

Yeah, Tungsten Carbide has a density of 15.6g/cm3, pure Gold, 19.3g/cm3, 18k Gold, about 15.4g/cm3. Tungsten Carbide is extremely durable, used for drill-bits and other tools. due to its hardness. It's not easy to work with, needing diamond-based abrasives to shape and polish it.

I absolutely love this piece however I’ve never considered it a competitor to the Datejust. The Datejust is an all around watch that can be worn to business and I think that either Omega’s Hour Vision or Deville Coaxial fit that bill well. I consider the Globemaster a leisure time watch that you put on when you get home from work and decompress. I see it as a watch to be worn to dinner, a cocktail party or even on your back porch or while sitting in your backyard in a gazebo while wearing a pair of chinos and a plaid sport shirt. That might just be me. I’m not a one watch guy but a watch wardrobe guy who wears a watch for whatever I’m wearing.

Nothing like a Datejust bezel! Much more like a coin edge bezel because the divisions are much closer together. Another difference is that the Omega bezels are not as steep as a Rolex bezel. Finally, Omega has been using a fluted bezel for as long, if not longer than Rolex. These are common misconceptions held by a lot of people. The use of tungsten carbide as a material for the bezel will resist dings and scratches much better than your typical Rolex bezel also.

The Globemaster line, to my taste are much better looking watches relative to the few Datejust I’ve seen, not even close.

$8,600? I could get 150 Vostok Amphibias for that kind of money!

RADO has been using Tungsten Carbide since 1962 (59 years ago) in their Diastar 1 watches. Very iconic and interesting design.

Where is the day complication to make this an annual calendar?

Day of the month at 6 o'clock, no need for day of the week to make it an annual calendar.

Is there a more useless complication than an annual calendar. It’s a nice watch, but there are many great watches at that price point. I would rather have a Datejust. At least the value wouldn’t drop by 3 grand upon opening the box.
