      @@klausgoldfisch3231 Magic isn't ethereal except maybe those related to the mist but even then Champs like Senna or Thresh convert the magic into a form of attack that can harm physical enemies so it makes complete sense that a "wall of wind" can and should be able to block practically anything. For example in the anime Yu Yu Hakusho one of the main character's enemies uses the wind and is later denied the use of his signature attack because it's projectile. His enemy explains that anything that needs to travel through air is at his mercy because he literally controls the air and can manipulate the wind to create a draft that sends it in any direction he wants it too. That's just what Yasuo is doing. He creates an extremely powerful updraft that stays in one place a creates a barrier out of it sending any and all projectiles straight up if it touches his Windwall. Even within a fantasy setting that sounds pretty logical to me.

      Well that speaks to my issue with Yas. It isn't that he's TEAM-DEPENDENT; it's that he can also SUBSIDIZE HIS SKILL WITH TEAM SKILL. He doesn't have to be good enough to pull off his conditional ult, BECAUSE HIS TEAM CAN DO IT FOR HIM. He doesn't have to position to catch the enemy when the tank ccs, because HIS ULT CAN DO IT FOR HIM. He doesn't have to make sure that he's topped up on passive before going in, because HIS PASSIVE WILL DO IT FOR HIM. He gets so much for free, without tradeoff, that he doesn't have to be good because the game will do most of that for him.

    There are more hidden mechanics that you've failed to mention.
    1)His passive shield comes back when he walks. When yasuo gets boots- his passive shield procs faster. (so in essence, he has a cheap mini-powerspike for only 300g)
    2)Lifesteal. For some reason, the 2.5% omnivamp in doran's blade gives yasuo more lifesteal early in the game than many other champs. After you trade with him early and he autos a wave , he gets a significant chunk of his health back. After he gets vamp scepter, the lifesteal goes up significantly.
    When he finally builds his shieldbow, his lifesteal is on steroids and trading in lane with him becomes useless.
    The only other champions that heal this fast are yone and samira.

    • @marcusaurelius8467
      @marcusaurelius8467 Před 3 lety +48

      Omnivamp is only 33% effective on AoE abilities but Yasuo's Q is treated as on-hit. This means that Omnivamp applies 100% of the healing for each target hit by it.

    • @RC-zm6bb
      @RC-zm6bb Před 3 lety +15

      @@marcusaurelius8467 Thank you for this explanation. Now I finally get it. This is why he heals so much. Yasuo is always spamming Qs. When it hits multiple targets, the omnivamp procs for every single one at 100%. That's where all the healing comes from.

    • @andrei-cezarbleaje5519
      @andrei-cezarbleaje5519 Před 3 lety +19

      @@RC-zm6bb no , actually is 100% just for the first target and 33% for the other ones , this is why when you q a minion on lane and also hit the enemy from behind the minion , the minions will not aggro attack you because your q is aoe after the first target.

      @mannyvalerio6822 Před 3 lety +1

      But why? Because of their interactions with LS.
      All three of these Yasuos have Qs that count as on-hits, with some extra (Yas can on-hit in an area and gets Tempest, Yone gets the dash, Sam gets bonus dmg casting this at melee range on top of getting her bonus dmg at melee range). So when Shieldbow procs and gives them a giant shield and a total of 30%LS by itself, suddenly every Q puts an extra 100hp back in their pool, not counting crits.

    As a twitch main what makes me hate windwall the most is that it’s effectiveness is completely independent from the rest of the game. I can be 20/0/5 on the best scaling ADC in the game and have everything I’ve done all game to get to that point completely negated because a 1/12/3 Yasuo pressed W during a team fight. If I die even once during early game and don’t snowball, I’m going to be basically useless all game, but some troglodyte who locked in Yasuo can still effectively counter me even if he has inted all game.

      I’ve played a lot of Yasuo and I’m of the opinion that windwall should be a reaction based ability, like why is it a decently long lasting and huge wall.
      I’ve always had this concept that Yasuo WW should have 2 charges, using an individual charge makes a small, short lasting blocker used to clutch save himself and maybe someone else if they’re directly behind him when I say short I mean like 0.25 seconds or something.
      I still think he should keep current WW however I think it would have to use both charges and you would have to hold down W and effectively silence yourself for 1 second to cast the big one, meaning he can be punished for trying to cast windwall and can have the small ones forced out.
      Plays into his skill gameplay that they want with cool plays being even cooler but also making his windwall actually be able to be outplayed as you engage on the Yasuo who’s trying to cast big windwall, or cc him, something that is pretty much impossible atm.

    You forgot a huge part of why people play Yasuo: When he was released, it was extremely rare for a champion's abilities to cost 0 resources. This was busted. It's not as crazy nowadays, but not having to care about a resource bar is a huge perk.
    It was him, Riven, Garen, and Katarina. All these champs stomped through the game like monsters at the time.
    Compare this to the ninjas and energy. Energy was widely considered OP at the time due to mana actually mattering, but ninjas had to prioritize using which ability when due to how energy worked, ranking up their abilities mattered a lot to reducing costs, and they had to play around mechanics to restore energy.
    Yasuo just did it all for free, and it was even worse than that. This was a guy who not only didn't have to buy any secondary resource management item, but he also got *better item scaling from his passive.*

    The free gold this guy gets is insane. His shield passive is about 1100 gold passive from Bloodthirster, the extra crit is worth about 2000+ gold. That's 3100 gold as minimum which is why he has such an oppressive two item spike. He also gets to R off any knock up, so he doesn't really need to be good, just be with a good teammate with a knock-up (Malph/Ori) this also why I hate Kaisa ulti, she should have to land an auto or w but realistically she can just bolt in because she has a tank on her team. Additionally, because of his kit you have to kite away from your wave and thus closer to enemy junglers. All of these things are massive downsides for the enemy team without Yasuo even doing anything yet. At least with things like Akali, she does generally need to be good and actually hit her buttons to be benefitting her team. Yasuo can just W, afk, and his R the first time a person gets knocked up, and profit.

    I have banned him almost since he came out, and I continue to always ban him. His windwall is the dumbest design Riot made. It's like the new champions weren't supposed to have any counterplay, besides "pick another champion", as it completely invalidates ranged champions/mages. It's such a game-changing ability to have as a "normal ability", hell, even Morgana and braum have a specific amount they can take before their shield breaks, and Sivir and nocturn can only really take 1 hit before their spell shield is down. Yasuo's can take your whole team's combo. God I hated when Lux's ult couldn't even go through. It doesn't leave room for fun gameplay around it.
    If I could, I would replace that ability, and then move on to ban Yone or something. :P

There's always room to grow and learn, and I can def learn to play better against ww. But it still feels way to forgiving as an ability. There's no drawback to using ww other than knowing when to use it correctly because of the long cd, which isn't really a drawback because you don't lose anything else using it, you don't need recourses/stacks, it's just free.

    The actual reason why I main Yasuo is because of his mechanics and learning curve. And rn I've been playing him is Wild Rift and sadly his mechanics (and wind wall) are nerfed alot.
    Here's what I noticed in Wild Rift Yasuo:
    1.Less minions and creeps means less dashes and the cd is 8 seconds on every target which for a mobile game is alot.
    2.His tornado can be countered by Teemo's Blind and Jax Counter strike as I remembered the time I played Yasuo on League pc that's not how it works.
    3.Wind wall doesn't block Braum's Ult and Nunu's Snowball Idk why but that's how it works.Those two champions are a good pick rn.
    4.You can't do airblade in 1 to 2 items and even if you did in late game, doing 2 basic attacks to the airborne enemy then ulting deals more dmg so it isn't really worth it to do that.And even with max attack speed it's still difficult because of no cancel animations on Wild Rift.
    5.Beyblade on Yasuo in Wild Rift is useful sometimes but with the constant fights on a smaller map flash is important
    6.Counter picks. In Wild Rift every skill match up on Yasuo like Yas vs Zed in Wild Rift it isn't like on pc it's different

    When I started playing the game I did know that he was a very difficult champion to play. I wanted to main one champion and one champion alone and oh boy picking yasuo was a bad idea. I often spent too much time worried about mechanics not learning jungle tracking objective control wave manipulation and not even proper lanning techniques such as creating all in windows basing if the lane state is lost and you don't have the HP to fix it. The fact that I spammed yasuo made me a worse player for very very very very long. I'm not a great player now either I'm sure I'll get shit on by most of the player base but I that's expected. I'm a casual player. Picking yasuo as a main was a mistake cause it made the game alot harder. The game is already complex enough without having to focus so much on mechanics.

  • @katarinalavoie6476

    Ah Yasuo the bane of my Ahri main. Yes he is very much disliked for his wind wall ability and yet despite its cool down his dash mobility makes it hard for a pre 6 ahri to lock him down until he gets up in my grill. Though I only played him 2 times for the lols despite what some people say he does have mechanical demand to be played well.
    (Thankfully playing skillshot simulator champs for years and playing different assassians I managed to pick up on him relatively easily though the ceiling is much higher than the floor)
    Those nerfs were deserved and needed. He did plague mid lane till I perma banned him lmao. But now with chanpions like Zed making him look like a drooling infant by comparison. Running into a good yasuo is a nightmare between a free shield, a wind wall, and crit for days hes definately that late game carry.
    Now before someone in the comments says 'wElL yOu'rE AhRi, jUsT CHarM hIm.' Well gee why didnt I think of that (sarcasm ensues) the problem is between that W of his and his dashes its hard to pin down unless he gets up close, has nothing to dash to, and wasted his W. And just for clarity to non ahri players. Ahri's charm on hit at level 1 since most ahri players max charm last for various reasons. Charm at 1st level only charms them for 1.14 seconds up to 2 seconds at max. So at first level for a good 3/4 of the game even if i hit him hes only gawking at me for just over a second. Once that is gone he has free range to come at me knowing my charm is gone and by default my q and w for the damage to hit him when charmed he can turn to me and depending on if he has his q charge he can do his dash knock up and return the favour. The only way I get the kill is if I have ult in that mix and dash around him and possibly ignite to finish him off if he gets away.
    Ive seen good yasuo's and bad ones too. The bad ones are funny to watch as they dash rigbt into cc but the good ones make you live nightmares and gray screens.

    I know I'm bad at the game. But why is windwall a thing? I'm fine with a champ having infinite dashes, even as an adc. When a yone 1v9s my team I don't feel as a frustrated as I do when a yassuo just uses windwall against me in a team fight and I become useless for several seconds because of one uninteractive abilty.
    Shen's W and Jax's E are no where near as frustrating to play against as windwall. But obvi I'm biased, I main Jinx. For bruisers Jax's E might be their worst nightmare. Still, Jax's E consumes mana and it only protects him. And Shen is a tank who's kit is all peel, not an insane crit carry.

    Yasuo is a champion that coined the term "Yasuo Syndrome". By definition, it's when a champion is on your team they feed and flame and AFK, but when they are on the enemy team, they are a top 100 Challenger one trick.
    The reason he is so played is for the same reason Zed is played. They saw one pro player outplay and thought "Pshh I can do that. I'm gonna show all these Iron 5 plebs my superior mechanics". Then when they get stomped, they blame the jungle for not ganking or blame the enemy mid for picking a no skill, easy, one button win champ that is braindead.
    Yasuo isn't hated for his kit (I actually like his kit a lot) he is hated for the people who play him.
    I had a friend who reached challenger by grinding and brute forcing with Yasuo mid and Yasuo top. However, whenever we played together he was toxic and blamed me (a support main) for not healing him or peeling when the Malphite (also our friend) would engage.
    Yasuo is a prime example of pick or ban. Because if your ally picks them, you will lose due to feeding, AFK or toxicity, but on the flip side if the enemy picks him you lose due to your mid or top having the mechanics of a baked potato.
