I just love this song so much. It actually moves me to tears when I place it in the context of the cowboy life which was so hard, so small and had so few expectations. When I read books like The Power of the Dog, or E Annie Proulx's stories I am so touched by the hardship of the lives lived in this milieu and this song so perfectly captures the humbleness, futility and fatalism of these lonely men. Thank you Mr Rawlings & Ms Welch for this beautiful musical evocation of those times and those men.

By The Mark, Will The Circle Be Unbroken / I Hear Them All, One More Silver Dollar, Orphan Girl, Caleb Meyer, and Annabelle are all really good ones, too. If you like Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings you`d probably love Townes Van Zandt - My Mother The Mountain, Tecumseh Valley, Pancho & Lefty, Ships of Andular, Texas River Song, and Dead Flowers (a Stone`s cover) are all amazing. John Prine - Blue Umbrella, Souvenirs, All The Best are super good, too. Gram Parsons - A Song For You, In My Hour of Darkness and Your Angel Steps Out of Heaven Each Night, too. Emmylou Harris - Your Long Journey, The Angel`s Rejoiced and Coat of Many Colors are incredible. I`m an oldschool 80`s-90`s metalhead by nature but I`m always a sucker for a good authentic from the heart folk country tune when I hear one. I hope my list of faves hits you where it counts. Agreed but, that’s not the measure of great and lasting art. This song will carry the legacy of Americana and, forever will be associated with the Coen Bros. who, themselves are masters of their medium. That was not very long ago that the actual awards ceremony happened and does anyone know which song did win? I do not. I do know this song is a masterpiece and my newborn daughter just seems to LOVE the beautiful harmonies. I love her. I will always love this song and that to me at least is far better than any Hollywood idol but, if I were the artists, I’d likely be bummed for not having won this time but, these two aren’t going away anytime soon and, are often on outstanding soundtracks.

@@patrickpilkington6241 Considering the song that did win was "Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and was probably the biggest song of the year and one of the biggest selling singles ever, I'd say people do remember the winner.
Just beautiful! The dark humor of the movie version is replaced with soulful reverie! "I'm Glory Bound! ...I'll see y'all there, and we can sang together and laugh about all the meanness in the used-ta-be"

A fantastic song, beautifully done here. I agree that it's best delivered with Willie Watson's unique and emotive quaver. If Willie's singing lead on Sunday, it'll be a Yippee-ki-yi-yay Oscars for sure!

There almost identical. The movie version is a hair faster and has two males voices. That is literally the only difference.
I think the 10 guadrillion magnification made me think otherwise. I'll move on partner.
