Gateway Gardens, Station and Hotels

- Gateway Gardens was once a housing area for Rhein-Main Air Base. Today it is the newest S-Bahn stop in Frankfurt and full of hotels. Location is the 3rd stop after the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station in Frankfurt and one stop from the airport.
The S-8 and S-9 stop here as well as several bus lines. The Berlin Airlift Memorial is nearby, either by walking or with the bus. Some of the hotels may have shuttles to the airport, but with the this station only 1 stop away, the train is probably easier.
For those of you who used to live here, I don't believe there is anything left, as far as buildings go. Would enjoy reading your comments about living in Gateway Gardens.

Enjoyed the walk around, will be there in July 2024 staying in one of the hotels and use it as the launch point to visit family and travel neighboring towns. Lived for a while in Goldstein, and use to hike over to the airport and this area through the woods.
Your transport options would be better if you stayed in the city, instead of here at Gateway Gardens. Glad you enjoyed the walk.
Thank you. I was in Frankfurt last month for the Christmas festival. When i was in Frankfurt in 2018 for the Christmas Festival, there was one of the old gate guard shacks left in front of where i was staying. I couldn'tgettoo close as there was construction all around it.
Not sure when they tore that down.
I was always curious about what's actually outside this station and why nobody gets off and on. This video explains it well. ;)
It depends on what is happening in the city. If there is a trade fair happening or a big event like the big soccer games this summer, those hotels will be packed.

This spring, I've decided to stay in GG for 1 night, immediately after the transatlantic red-eye, before heading out elsewhere the following day. I appreciate that GG is a cheap Kurzstrecke from Flughafen FRA. (On my way back to Frankfurt, I'll stay in the city proper for a couple of days before the return hop over the big eastern pond.)

Not familiar with the film, but there sure are a lot of hotels here now.
Sounds like the development is to house short and long stay guests. Is this due to a lack of such places in Frankfurt proper? The transportation looks very good and easy but it’s still sort of stark If people are choosing a residence. I read the history of the area related to the US base. It seems a good use of the land.
It is hotels, of which some are long term residence for those who have business here for a few weeks or months. They have some in Frankfurt too, but it is probably cheaper to build out here. There are restaurants and bars here, just I did not show them.
How long is the walk from the car park to the s-bahn?
Not sure. I would have to time it. Perhaps your hotel could tell you or Google maps?
