Great video. I just got a Black Aces FD12 from my Son and really didn't know much about the gun. This video answered all my questions. The take down was kick butt. Thanks.
Thanks very much for this information, it helped me out a lot in disassembly of my Hunt Club Fd12. All in all not a bad disassembly, had trouble getting the bolt handle off. Take Care.
got one of these a few months ago. As you stated at the beginning. Not good for Lefties(like me) but i came across one at a local gun store that was left handed so scooped it up. I found the pins fairly easy to take out, for me it was getting the charge handle out. This would be my 3rd shot gun. I have a Canuck Commander and a Mossburg retro 590A1. I REALLY wanted to get a Derya Mk12 but alas, the gun ban dashed that idea.
Great video! I've got 2 of these and used this to do my first disassembly and cleaning. One of the shot guns was tearing the odd shell casing due to a small burr on the chamber edge, filed it down a bit and it seems to work great now.
A little late to the party, but great video, you use all the proper terms, explain all the steps and idiosyncrasies really well. Hell, my guess, you're an educated man. Seriously, the video, content and our host did great. Thank you. Dave & The Girls
Looks like a really great home protection shot gun. I’ve purchased it but the back log is months away. Hopefully I’ll receive it this year some time. I live in California and the gun laws and 2nd amendment are always being attacked by the politicians.
Good disassembly as well as testing. At 10:18 the rear takedown pin gave you a lot of trouble removing it. Did you use a special tool or technique to get it out? Thank you for emphasizing the nuts on the barrel that are reverse threaded. Did this shotgun come with a 6" screw in barrel extension?
I enjoyed the review, I purchased one myself ,,,, I find the vert grip really cheap ... I feel you hit all the nails on the head discussing this semi shot gun . I truly enjoy mine and I'm not a bull pup fan
@@mrguiltyfool NO , I'm a lefty with a right side ejecting FD12, the shells blast your face hard, if you get one then you will have to modify the polymer ejection cover to deflect them away or else you cannot rest your cheek against the stock without getting smacked by the next shell
If I made it look easy it's only because it was easy. Maybe mine was unique, but I did not have the troubles you're describing. Not even the first time I took it apart.
Mine came with another piston that says heavy on it in a separate bag in the box. The instructions are pretty useless for any information. Do you know what its for?
I'm not currently aware of any trigger replacements for this. A good gunsmith can do some work on just about any trigger, if that's your sort of thing.
Is there no buffer for the bolt on this shotgun? I recently shot about 40 rounds through mine, took it apart, and noticed that the bolt is slamming onto the back of the aluminum upper and no buffer for it. A little concerned it'll explode in my face lol
PLS. make a video how a left hand dominant shooter use that shotgun...we want to see if the face is not blocking the shell ejection port or the ejecting shell will not hit the face of the shooter.
I'm afraid I can't do this for two reasons. First, I do not know any left handed shooters personally. Second, I no longer have this shotgun, it was raffled off on the show a few years ago. Sorry.
NO, why, because you want the friction to wear in and mate the poor machining together. If you lube it up right away you will not get a good break in parts smooth - mating...These are not Mossberg - Benelli quality , the employees are hit and miss, they come with ruff edges and lack of superior alignment...You might get lucky and get one made by a master journeyman one day and by a new unskilled employee the next day.....cheers
Great review...I'm kind of new to shotguns and I have a question: When you say "open choke", does that mean cylinder bore? I always thought that open = cylinder bore. My understanding of cylinder bore is, that there is nothing in the bore...no chokes, no obstruction devices of any kind..the bore is wide open, hence the adjictive "open". This is why I'm struggling with the "open choke" terminology here, as to me it falls into the same category as a "four wheeled tricycle" ...would you be able to clarify this for me? In other words, what is the point of inserting a choke into the barrel and calling it open, instead of just not inserting any choke at all?
@@bs_podcastit was way too easy to over insert the mag and it would jam so badly would take a minute make it work again. Mags look pretty similar. Might be even same mag
i got a HG FD12. tore it down. rear locking pin was impossible to get out but did. the end reverse thread to take the barrel receiver off was so tight I couldnt move it. took it back to place i got it from and the end was bent that i couldnt see. sent it back. seems thats an issue with most of these.
Hi. Do you know what the latch/lever ??? Above the magazine release on the left side is for. Couldn't find anything in the manual about it. It has a knurling pattern on it. I've not fired mine yet. Still making sure I understand all the functions. Thanks
Hi Paul. That's the bolt release. It's a paddle release, and functions the same as an AR-15 in terms of being able to use it to hold the bolt open, or release the bolt from its open position. Is that the lever you meant?
