    I love these videos!
I initially skipped this one when, prompted by what we were experiencing of "lockdown"-induced distance learning, I was deciding whether to homeschool my middle schooler. I'm diving into the videos again now that I'm planning the high school years, and this video reaffirmed that Charlotte Mason-style learning is what I want for my child and what I believe John Taylor Gatto aimed for with his methods.
I've only read one of Gatto's books, but I loved it so much that I immediately began it again! One of the primary things I took away was his statement that learning should not be presented in a lovely, bundled package (like a unit study). I was starting to veer a little too much towards wanting to utilize a unit study approach because my child is more kinesthetic -- thank you for the reminder of why the Charlotte Mason method works!

Switching from Classical Conversations, we only did it for one year but it didn’t fit our expectations. I didn’t have a word to describe the kind of learning I wanted my kids to do, your channel has helped me so much and helped me take away many of the overwhelming feelings of taking on a new approach. It feels so much more natural for our family!

Unit Studies are too much for this "single tasking" mama, LOL! I believe Charlotte Mason suits me better 😊 But I also prefer to teach History and Science, Art, Music, in a more organized, secuential or chronological way in their own block of time instead of connecting those subject areas for the sake of teaching unit studies. Thank you so very much for your podcasts! I love to listen to you and learn from you!

I agree, I like science and maybe history as a unit type study. That may not even be the right word. I just like to do science focusing on one topic at a time.

great, now what do I do with my Konos book? HAHA!
I still love the activity ideas in there and their book suggestions are amazing. There is also the approach of having a living book be the common theme for all subjects.
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge!

I am switching my son from unit studies to Charlotte Mason. My son is finishing his 3rd grade year now. We school year round and plan to start form 2 in the fall. From what I have read, 4th grade/Form 2 is a huge transition in CM. Do you have any recommendations or advice for preparing him over the summer?

Hi, some families find that they are ready to jump right in, while others find it easier to slowly ease into this transition. This is the first in a 6 part series on switching to Charlotte Mason methods, which you may find helpful as you navigate this transition.
