I loved the part where Rheinhardt said "let me show you how its done" , and the whole dev team just watched for 4 years doing nothing.
It's not the dev team's fault, you know? I doubt any of them wants to scrap majority of the 4 years worth of time & effort of them making the PvE.
If they are in control of how the things go in the game, we would have the original PvE that they teased. Unfortunately, the higher ups are the ones in control and they want the PvE changed so they can monetize it.

All that was lost is u “waited” but I doubt you thought about the pve for more than a few minutes a year as well u never had to spend money on overwatch 2 so you don’t really have a justification to complain or be petty as u never lost anything in effect unless ur gonna use the moral argument and say “wahh they should have though they broke a promise wahh” which isn’t an argument
If ur one of those people who say “argh I only played overwatch 2 for the pve but they cancelled it” that makes no sense no one forced u to u just decided to
From a business stand point it entirely makes sense that they cancelled the pve. From what I’ve read the portion of the community that was infatuated with pve barely played the game much less ever bought anything (albeit never buying anything I totally get overwatch 2 mometization is 100% a scam lol) thus the only people who actually play the game continuously are people like me who could not care less about it and play the multplialyer so tops they lost like 10-15% of their active player base and in return are now capable of using all of their resources for more consistent faster updates thus pampering to their audience that actually generates revenue rather than pampering to the portion taht doesn’t.
If u genuinely expected anything from the pve mode ur foolish look at any of their other limited modes and think for 10 secs that using a similar model for enemies and gameplay would lead to a bland and boring game. For example the ai’s in custom games “play” like they threw together the code in minutes and the only difficulty spikes in limited modes like
Junkenstein are increase enemy health and damage by X. If u genuinely are craving a single player game than go play a single player game that’s known for being good and not a multiplexer game owned by multiplayer company trying to make a single player game. And on the pve if ur niche was the story than that of itself is silly as the “lore” of overwatch is incredibly basic and linear just generic superheroes save the day stuff but again if ur set on that then they’re releasing the story cinematics or whatever
The only point I agree with is that it was a mistake to stop updating the first game for pve but they only did so because a portion of the community hyper fixated on cinematics and in doing so overhyped what would be an obviously subpar pve mode. So if anything it’s on the community for “killing” the game it would have been better to never promise anything and just stick to updating overwatch 1. But in defense of canceling the pve that was a good move because again the only active players are multiplayer players who don’t care for pve so expending resources on something most of its player base would not care about is absurd.
As an active player since 2016 this new wave of fans are so annoying I could be wrong and assume wrong but a majority of these people I’ve read complaining are people who barely played overwatch 2 and only played overwatch 1 for a while and it makes no sense to me that this grouping can be so aggrieved by a game they barely played and we’re never coerced into spending money or time the only thing u truly lost was ur “trust” as if trusting a large company is a bright thing to do in the first place

I remember seeing OW1 being in the works, getting excited with the art style, the characters and how the game looked and played overall.
I remember eventually buying OW1; while holding it for the first time I was getting a long forgotten feeling from my youth, just like when my father gifted me Rayman 3 as I had already beaten the demo a dozen times. The hype was real and I was actually having a blast playing the game the first seasons.
What a downward spiral... They literally butchered the game, I feel robbed at this point.
It's crazy how Widowmaker's ult couldn't even detect any PvE content. Truly a magical season for Overwatch 2.

I still love Overwatch, been playing religiously since 2017. But I’m not gonna lie, lying to us about PVE for so long is unforgivable. Overwatch 2 isn’t even a sequel anymore, just a massive update.
Yeah, I’ll admit I’m one of those people too that didn’t really care for it being added. But the fact they lied to our faces for so long is unforgivable and is why I barely play any more.
Been playing since the first beta…. Once Jeff left it went down hill after they lied to us I just stopped playing all together

Same, been playing almost every day since OW1S1 and the "update"(let's be honest, it was a downgrade) made things worse but the "there never really was PvE" announcement and the fact that they called "giving us a few namecards" an event just hit differently. barely touched the game in the past weeks.
I loved it when Lucio said “LETS BREAK THEIR BANK!” and proceeded to charge everyone $15 for stripped down PvE.
I feel bad for the devs/artists, the people higher up completely messed it up for them and us. I completely understand Jeff leaving
