Carter, man, I needed that this morning. So many great ideas, again, expressed brilliantly. I've come to the conclusion that you are one of maybe 10 drummers in the world today that I could identify by their sound/style alone. Like, oh shirt, that's Carter's voice. There are several signature licks that I now associate with you as well and they always seem to come out in different subdivisions and stickings; seemingly, based on what you're feeling at the moment. One that I absolutely love is the HH > snare sweep (L) and the FT > snare sweep (R) with the bass drum doubles in between. This seems to come out in the most unexpected of times like a rhythmic non sequitur. It's like a car driving down the road, shifting really smooth in and out of gears, and then you hit 5 or 6 speed bumps with a load of frogs ribbiting in the trunk. Good stuff. ;)
I mean..drummers with fantastic sounding drums is always inspiring, drummers that play really well and with killer dynamics is also awesome..You have it both.
when i was young, i remember my dad telling me that his favorite guitar player was mark knopfler. it was the hair-band 80s, and i thought he was crazy when there were players like evh and vai. i just figured old dudes must not realize things were changing. watching and hearing carter do his thing makes me realize where he was coming from.
At 1:28, I just loved how that left-hand buzz felt super clean. Played it back several times. Really pleasing drumming overall man. Your style sounds so good.
My god! One of the top players of our generation… Beautiful playing! Hey, did you get my message about Pocket Percussion in Willow Grove, PA just outside of Philadelphia? We need you there.
Carter, I really enjoyed your effortless & casual play around your kit. It was refreshing on both of the videos I watched, in lieu of someone just bashing the hell out of there drums and playing as fast as they can. I really liked the tone of your drums, they sounded really good. Also could you tell me the ply of the batter & resonant heads and if you use Drum Dial and what settings you use ? Also would you tell me the size and type of the cymbal right next to the high-hat cymbal. Thanks!🥁
Borderline unreal. I really wish you would play a few of those massive runs hat you do slowly because it's the best s*** I've ever heard. Failing that, I'm looking forward to slowing this clip down and stealing a few patterns to practice!
Hello Carter! I'm writing to you from Argentina, I'm a big fan of your videos. Could you someday make a video comparing the drumsticks you use? Thanks a lot, big greetings!
Agree with all the other Comments. ESS = Effortless Smooth Speed. Love the changing of technique when desires - fingers, no fingers and wrists seemingly, etc. Does anyone know what kind of cymbals the hats and other ride or crash are?
@@cartermclean I agree, another stellar playthrough. Is your mic setup here using Glyn Johns technique? I see at least one Earthworks mic near your right shoulder but can't make out any others. Sounds killer. Thanks!
Sound quality and groove you'll want to listen to forever.
Love seeing and hearing Carter, Ludwig and Istanbul.
A thruple made in heaven.
YEA CARTER!! WHOOT!! groove’n’ & swingin!
Could literally listen to you play all day. That flat ride sounds awesome 😊
Whoaaaaa, loving the 5-stroke roll at 2:04 on the ride! Loving it. So clean.

Those drums sound great! ....and I'm putting that down to Carter more than any brand.
Mighty fine playing sir!
Now we need a signature Carter stick with a yellow stripe! Maybe a Firegrain model with a yellow stripe?

Duas obras de arte !!!
I always think of Roy Haynes with small flat rides. He was a master of that sleeper cymbal. So are you.
Carter, muy buen toque !!!!!!
Now this is music. Period.
I truly believe he can make any drumset or cymbal sound good
That canary yellow finish is starting to grow on me, but it's only because Carter's playing the kit.....😂👍💪
Amazing!!!
So smooth

Carter said 15" on instagram

Gotta ask, what hardware is that on the hihat and two non-flat rides? Looks very minimalistic, love it
Nice one !!! Can you tell us the year of your Ludwig ? Grazie molte Carter !

You should carry clean shorts around for people who might happen to hear you play.
I just realized I need a "Flat Earth" Ride.
