MY TINY 600€ STUDIO APARTMENT IN NICE, FRANCE | Studio apartment tour + Tips for renting in France 🏡

  • In this video, I will be giving you some tips on how to rent an apartment in France, tips for renting as a foreigner, documents you will need, websites you can use to find apartments, and common scams to watch out for!
    I've also included a mini tour of my tiny (16m2) 600€ /month apartment in Nice, France in the French Riviera! The apartment came fully furnished and includes water, cable, internet, and electricity ⚡️
    Apartment hunting can be stressful (especially in France!) so I put together this video with some helpful information to know if you are planning on renting here.
    * D I S C L A I M E R *
    It is very important to always be vigilant and be on the look out for scams, as there are A LOT OF SCAMMERS when it comes to renting in France, more specifically in Paris. DO NOT send any potential landlord any money, personal information (ID/passport/visa) etc before meeting them in person and physically seeing the property. If a potential "landlord" tells you that they are out of town on vacation and that they have already returned to the city many times to show the property, and due to this you have to give them your name, passport/visa info, and personal information to "make an appointment" - don't send them any information. This is a common rental scam here in France.
    If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. When in doubt, send me a picture/description of the listing and I'd be happy to look at it and tell you my opinion on if it's safe or not.
    Happy apartment hunting! x

    Hi Tiana, thank you so much for recording this video. It definitely helped me a lot. I'm going to Nice to study French and I work for an American company. I'll stay at my school for the first 3 months of my stay but I was planning to get an apartment after that, I hope it won't be too hard to find someone that will rent for me!

      Thanks for the kind words Barbara, i’m happy to help! Nice is far more relaxed when it comes to renting to foreigners, I had way less of a hassle renting here than I am now trying to rent in Paris.
      I forgot to mention this in the video but I recommend joining Facebook groups in the Nice/Côte d’Azur area for renting apartments finding roommates, that’s how I found my current place!
      Here are a few of the groups I’m a part of:

    Hey Tiana, thanks so much for all the useful info! So I'm thinking of taking a sabbatical from work and moving down (from London) to the South of France (Probably Nice) the for 3 months. It sounds like it might be a lot of hassle and paperwork to rent an apartment/studio... do you think I should look at other options (cheap airbnb or hotels) as I won't be working while I'm there, I just want to travel and see the French Riviera.

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I'm glad I could help! Finding an apartment here is a hassle even for French people and it's gotten worse this year because of the Olympics. So for a 3 month stay I definitely think Airbnb is the best option!

    Hi Tiana, I am a 20 year old american student and I was hoping to stay 3 months in Nice while taking online classes during the summer. Now that I've watched your video it seems like a short-term rental as a foreigner is not feasible. Airbnb is not an option for me as I looked and the cheapest is $1000/month.. and the rooms I've looked at through the french rental sites run from $600-700. My parents are paying and only agreed to pay since they were okay with that price range. I don't have student status or a working visa since I'll be there for under 90 days. Is there any way to still rent through one of those french websites for 3 months?

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  Před 9 měsíci

      it’s not unless you sign/pay for a place without seeing it which I absolutely do not recommend. You’d have to book an airbnb hotel for at least the first month while you search

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi! Villefranche-sur-Mer is the next town over from Nice and it’s absolutely stunning! There’s also Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, and Saint Laurent du Var which are smaller and more calm. Cannes is stunning as well and smaller than Nice, but a bit on the expensive side. Honestly anywhere in the Côte d’Azur is gorgeous! ☀️

      @@Ale-mx6mj I didn’t have a guarantor for this apartment so I used the government guarantor (visale.fr). There are a lot of students in Nice so they’re pretty lenient when it comes to that, I think you’ll be fine! Rue Herold looks to be in a decent area and close to the center, I’m sure it’s great 🙂 To be fair there’s not really any “bad” areas of Nice though, most of it is pretty safe :)
