There is actually some highlights from Ren going live last night where he saw that everybody was doing reactions to his video already and he actually started crying because it was so touching to him. Yesterday was also his birthday. He said he's just so blown away by how much attention he's getting but he very much deserves it!
Made me emotional
Saw that, too. He is freaking awesome and humble. I teared up, too
It helps that he's a cute little bugger too! đ
He's got the whole stream up on his Twitch for anyone wants to see the whole thing.

Big shout to Samuel Perry-Falvey for filming this awesome video đ„đ„đ„
"4,5,6 spit a crucifix " is a play on the Freddie Krueger nursery rhyme that says "5, 6, grab a crucifix". He referenced Freddie Krueger earlier in the bars too.
thats what I was thinking the first time that I listen the song, if the 1, 2 ,3... was a reference to Freddie too
Love the live reaction. The interesting thing is ... I have never enjoyed any rap or hip hop style music, I am a classic rock, 80's/90's metal head guy. Ren is new, Ren is different. His lyrics, performance, bars, double/triple entendres's, easter eggs, flow changes, background beats ... all of it fresh, genuine, raw, cerebral ... different. I also love, 100%, that he is independent.
It is not. I love Ren, I mean Iâm pretty sure he is genius level. But I have to start pushing back against comments like these because while they are complimentary they are also incredibly limiting. Many artists have displayed the abilities Ren presents, perhaps the most impressive thing about him is his versatility but in the specific genres you sight people would do well to further explore the sounds they are drawn to in his work. There are plenty more excellent examples of music and lyricism to explore that touch upon this newly opened vein of artistic expression. Rather than championing Ren alone I think it would be better if people recognize if Ren exists and you didnât know about him, how many other artists are out there waiting for you to search a bit for them? The answer is a lot.
@@michaeln3044 Unfortunately itâs just ignorance and close mindedness of people. Same thing when the likes of âTom Macdonaldâ made his raps đ And ever 50 something year old was saying the same things with that
@@mawangshallhang Tom should not be included in anyones search out of such⊠lol. Jk just personal opinion.
@@michaeln3044 I agree, but I think you are wrong on the limiting part. Many people have given up on there ever being any new artists or any new music worth listening to ... One that would light the "spark" ... we are tired of listening to our same old playlist. I believe Ren and his music has given many people "hope" that new music is not dead and I personally think you will start seeing people coming out of the woodwork and trying to seek out new artists. I want to find new music and I look forward to my new journey to find it. I just happen to fall into my journey with Ren. Much peace to you brother on your journey â€
@@Kenai2008 I like this framing much better, thank you for the follow up. And same.
He also does a cover of I Shot the Sheriff also; he has such a mixture of genres which includes Reggae.
Iâm so hyped for this new Ren album! Canât wait for Ren to blow up and get the recognition an artist of his caliber deserves
Everyone is missing the extra facet to the Freddie Mercury bar.
He says "I'm heavy".
Mercury is one of the heavy metals on the Periodic Table.
It's a double.
Didn't catch that at all. đ„
@@FlawdTV He really interweaves his schemes đ„
My hub and I both caught it and find it interesting that so many (almost all) don't catch it. I'm a science teacher and my hubby does all things renovations to homes and is an all around science sponge.
âElementary my dear Watsonâ is a famous line , Sherlock Holmes says to Dr Watson ( heâs assistant)
13 more songs getting dropped from Rens album Sick Boi. 2023 gunna be awesome!! Love your reactions đđ
2:54 - Nice! You caught the Eleven reference. I missed that one comepletely, even after I read the lyrics several times, lol. This man has layers upon layers of intricacy in his lyricism.
Please do i Shot the sheriff/ Road to zion and HipHop by Ren with the big push its đ„
We did it on a live and it got copyright claimed while we were doing it live, so we had to end it. It was amazing tho
Ren is upping the ante in rap. His ability to switch flows and beats in the middle of a rap and it flows like water. Great reaction
Ren can do anything! He is incredible!!!
He came in swinging at tore the joint apart đ€Ż This beat is fire, the bars are dope and the flowswitches are off the charts đ„đ„đ„
Much love peeps! Yall are dope. This ish is fire. Like, that's it. Period.
Great reaction guys he dose do reggae check out The big Push his band I shot the sheriff/ Road to Zion/ Hip Hop if you havenât done it. His got so many styles and genres.
Yeeaahhhh...đ„đ„đ„...love the F I R shirt.. Ren and Ronnie are at the top this year.đđđ
"Elementary dear Watson!" Is a very famous Sherlock Holmes Quote from books as well as movies... It is allmost his catchphrase, it was how the writer made an opening to Sherlock explaining everything to the reader... lol
The Prodigy have contacted Ren about discussing a potential collaboration.. â€ïžđŹđ§â€ïž
That would be my dream! Hope this is true because this would be insane đ©đ„
That would be amazing!
Wow I didn't know this - did he say that on Twitch (I've not got myself together enough yet to get on Twitch or Discord - too busy binge watching Renactions lol

@@Veeliscious same
Holy Shit this guy is amazing.
The craziest thing is that he wrote and filmed this before he released hi ren. This wasnât something he thought up after everyone went crazy on all his music. All the references to his old songs is crazy good and it makes it seem like he may have done this after the blow up but he did this not knowing he was going to be any bigger than he was at the time. This song is beyond fire
Ren is next level
Heâs got tonsss of callbacks to his past songs. Heretic, the hardy brothers reference from losing it. I mean it goes on and on fiiirrrrrrreeee đ„
I wondered if crucify a catholic was a call back to 'Crucify your culture'
Ok gotta check out more of your reactions! I've noticed with Illest that i'm seeing reactors i've not encountered before and i try to give full watch/subscribe/like/comment love to every reactor showing Ren love ... glad this is popping new reactors up to the surface. We gotta make this business model work :) great reaction!
Literally helping Ren "defeat the forces of Evil" Ren prophesied at the tender age of 17 - breaking the greedy money-machine giants who really just monetise Us all, and returning us to the mutually beneficial community and fair Exchange of trade
Great reaction. You need to check out Renâs âWhat You Wantâ for an upbeat old school hip hop song. Also check him out doing âRight Here, Right Nowâ and âLife is Funnyâ. And for a feel good sound, try âPowerâ
Driving back home last night and this tune came on on my playlist! A banger from Ren. He's something else! He has everything.
Eleven is one of the main character in stranger things. That was a double right there. That whole stranger things line was fire was đ„.
The whole song is a double
That's why I enforced the "11" lmao that shit was dope!
Actually a triple cause turn it up to eleven is spinal tap reference as well - the other double ppl seem to miss is mercury heavy Freddie mercury - mercury is heavy metal from period table .. dude spits so many doubles
Great reaction love watching Americans reacting to our music đ„đ„đđ
Y'all got some đ„
He's like if Wu-Tang got condensed into one person. Every flow holds its own personality. He changes his voice and body language to match each one. It's crazy genius level.
The 5 6 grab your crucifix is a throw back to the freddy Kruger bar it's part of the nursery rhyme from a nightmare on elm street
You guys are great, loved your reaction! †Xx
Bro you gotta check out the history between Jamaican Reggae and English Ska, the history falls back to shitty times. But the music it's inspired is amazing.
Elementary dear Watson - Sherlock says this to Watson when he thinks something is so apparent that it's easy
Also on that heavy Freddy Mercury lineâŠ..he says heavy because mercury is the heaviest liquid in the world.
It's Ren's world and we just livin in it. đ„đ„đ
wow what a reaction You both are sick !

He covers reggae,if u check it out it should b the 1 'I shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/HipHop' by his old band The Big Push..absolute fire
"Elementary dear Watson" is a famous line from Sherlock Holmes novels
He does Regga too. He is so talent in all his music, and has it up. He also went old school with the Beastie Boys
Watson is Sherlock Holmes' sidekick (essentially). "Elementary, my dear Watson" is a line that comes up in the old books.
Amazeball's!!! Definitely my fav & went straight on my playlist đ„âŁïžđ„âŁïžđ„
Thank you guys so freaking good loving Ren â€
Love your reaction- watching you enjoy Illest as much as we dođ„đ„
Mercury is also a heavy metal. So heavy like mercury and Mercury like Freddie.
Thanks for the great reaction guys
Forget your names. But Iâm so impressed at how well you catch the gate. And I donât mean , you catch the odd bar. You literally catch all the bars !!! So impressive. Most people catch the mainstream bars. Youâre catching the above and behind bars
Amazing reaction. No disrespect intended at all but the girl doing this reaction is absolutely beautiful. Hopefully she knows that
Nothing disrespectful about it. I completely agree. That's why I started dating her in 2009 đ
Ya Ren went dummy on that beat fo shođ„đ„đ„đ„
I love that the 80s/early 90s kids always find that Hardy Bros bar.
I LOVE the video scene change up into the spread my tattered wings bars⊠that was dope , itâs ALLLLLLL DOPE
love your reaction guys :) thank you
I never liked rap before I heard Ren. I love Genesis, The Hunger and Losing It. This track reminds me of why I don't like rap (alpha male aggrressive bragadacio, violent imagery etc) BUT I love the beat and the last flow "I, want to spread these tattered wings" through to the end. Ren is a freakin' genius (I just don't like violence and male aggression - personal taste I guess). However, he warned us that we may not like it as he was going in a new direction. Massive respect to you Ren ! Get well soon, mate
the cool thing about the bragging violent imagery etc here is that it all has double meanings. Being Illest as in the best rapper or literally the one who is sickest... even the animal heads can be an agressive statement about animalistic behaviours but also a representation of the different emotions, feelings and sides to our individual personalities... the lyrics can be interpreted allmost entirely in both ways as well... psychologically and bragadacio hand in hand! :)
@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds I totally get what you're saying. There is no denying Ren's incredible talents (I'm afraid that I have a psychological issue with violent imagery which causes me stress - so I tend to avoid that kind of thing). Aside from that, the beat was awesome and I loved the last flow.
â@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds It is in reference to his illness seeing as he has Lyme Disease, and is currently going to treatment. He suffered mental illness(psychosis), depression and also permanent physical damage because he didn't get diagnosed for almost 10 years, as Lyme Disease is very hard to diagnose
Love this reaction đ„đ
And Iâve listened to about 60!!!!!
You are educating me too đ¶
Another great reaction!!! đ„đ„°â€ïžđđ»
Ren is crazy good and you never know what you are getting. Next song might be some singer songwriter folk stuff or some ridiculous storytelling like the whole tale of Jenny and Screetch trilogy..
Everything he does feels special.
Great reaction guys! Song is dope.
Yeah demogorgan is from stranger things. The creature from Alien was called a xenomorph, i believe.
I think I found the root of "The Illest" :
"Want to sink into the pupil* of my eye
Travel to the corner of my cornea** and mind
Look for all the answers*** that I never seem to find
Till then, I guess Iâm still the illest** ** of our time"
think about it "ill be the illest (till i find) the answer I'm looking for...?" like he doesn't want to be the illest
if he was the greatest he would never want to stop being the greatest but he isn't claiming to be the greatest just the "illest" till he finds the answer?
The answer*** he is looking for is a cure to Lyme Disease until he finds it he is the
illest** ** of our time but he'd rather not be, he'd rather cure Lyme Disease.
None of his treatments make sense there's no plan the'yre just trying stuff on him, even now in Canada there's no long term plan & goal (he said it in a video) it's all pretty much experimental.
He has to study what he has seen done to him he is the
pupil* (student) of his eyes travel through the light in the darkness he's been through.
The cornea** (The transparent part of the eye that covers the iris and the pupil and allows light to enter the inside.) But what do you think?
is this about the cure?
about having a plan for people like him?
about him being the only one that can find a method through the madness for people like him?
I don't think anyone else can save them I think it is set in stone he has to be the illest to cure Lyme Dissease
or at least develop a treatment that makes sense
Blessings from Puerto Rico
Phillip's wife Susan here. Love your insights shared here. I also think that he is inviting people into his mind to help them find answers which he has not found himself. Wisdom can be realising that there are no answers.
@@philliphall9817 yeah definitely especially with the "Elementary, dear Watson, you might find Yourself (inside the mind) of the illest of our time" for sure it's a trip into his brain that's part of why I reached my conclusion. Thanks for taking the time to reply & thanks for your thoughts I agree if he doesn't find the answer he'll just remain the illest. Bless Y'all peace.
@@philliphall9817 he said it himself like 12 hours ago I posted this 22 hours ago but i just found out it's on his community page i'm so happy that i was on the right track I'm so happy that i got someone to talk to about it this is so cool. thanks for hearing me it's on his community page. bless y'all I was just wanting to give y'all an update. ima post what he said for y'all convinience but y'all'l be able to read it on his community tab i'm so happy and sad cause you know he is very ill, but he gotta be the illest to find the cure.
"Overhwlemed by the amount of support for illest Of Our Time. Have been loving watching all the reaction videos and hearing everyone's interpretation. I never usually break down my own words because I love letting people apply their own meaning, but there was one line I wanted to explain. The title of the song. Alot of people took this to mean "The greatest Of Our Time"
"Look for all the answers that I never seem to find,
Till then I guess I'm still the illest of our time"
Its my reluctance to be the illest - the clue is in the word 'guess' - ive spent the better part of a decade looking for solutions to the damage lyme disease dealt with countless doctors visits, and am still in that boat. "Illest" can also mean "dopest" "best" etc. So it's a bit of a double entendre. Same as "Sick boi"
This theme is repeated with the line "elementary dear Watson you might find" cause Sherlock Holmes was always searching for the clues to piece the puzzle together, which is very relatable when trying to piece together parts of a very complex health picture, anyone with a very complex illness will relate to almost having to become your own detective.
And finally
"A pathologic entity -
if eveything is set in stone then this is how its meant to be"
Acceptance that this might just be the cards I've been dealt.
To search for answers and simultaneously accept that chronic illnest may be your fate is a bit of a paradox because it is the rejection of acceptance that spurs you forward in the persuit of answers, but it is the acceptance that you may always be sick that let's you lead a more peaceful life... so one must walk this contradictory line between both opposing states to have the motivation to find the answers whilst not being so outcome dependent. Still haven't mastered this, but think it's an interesting concept" ~ Ren Gill (The Illest)

RENs straight up lyrical genius đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
Watson is the sleuth partner to Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock always says 'It's elementary dear Watson'. Demogorgon is a lord of Hell from dungeons and dragons introduced in 1976. He is a colossal creature with tentacle for arms.
Iâm happy you liked this
Quite estonishing what you said about reggae (you are the first one!!) because indeed Ren does also an amazing cover of i shot the sherrif !!!
you guys are always great :)
Might be a reach but his number scheme felt like the Freddy Kruger song to me. 1-2 Freddy's coming for you, 3-4 better lock your door, 5-6 get you r crucifix, 7-8 don stay up late, 9-10 never sleep again.

Ren is VERY reggae, check out his band The Big Push "I shot the sheriff / Road to Zion / Hip Hop" rendition, off the charts!
I'm 2:30 in to this reaction and I'm glad that folks reacting without any knowledge of his references in the bars can still enjoy his music. LOL. It will take several watches to understand the complexity an thought that goes into these lyrics.
British Hip Hop and Grime music is heavily influenced by reggae and afro carribbean music, from the 1950s onwards thousands of migrants moved to England from the carribean for work, areas like london have a huge afro carribbean populations and theyr culture has enriched ours and become part of British culture, developing alongside it, forming new gernes like dub. It is a hip hop beat, but its an English hiphop beat.
He raps raps on a ton of songs
I'm sure he does.
Streets of Rage, was his inspiration
The TB-303 part makes this song to me. I mean... Ren would sound amazing regardless... but when the 303 kids in... fire. You are correct about the Regge part. Most regge has the kick and snare only playing on the 3 (i.e counting a song... 1 - 2 - snare - 4, 1 - 2 - snare - 4). And the tempo falls into "regge" tempo. Most people don't realize that the word regge is not a style. it's describes the tempo of a song. Like 80-110 beats per minute. But over time we've associated it with a style.
