This feels like not just a movie, but a CELEBRATION of all things Mario.
My thoughts exactly!
Agreed...I've been there since a youngin playing donkey Kong all the way to playing odyssey with my kids ..me and my boys gone all be kids when the movie come out
All things except Charlies Martinet
@@superfurryfox1 he's in the movie tho
@@superfurryfox1 Charles Martinet is in the movie, in an undisclosed role.
I love the fact that this video game movie adaptation isnât ashamed of the source material. It feels like a celebration of the Mario franchise and thatâs what the IP deserves it.
@Paula Abelenda Mama Mia!đđđȘŽđžđȘ
Did you notice during the Cheep Cheep stare down, you can hear the 8-bit underwater music from the first Super Mario Bros.? They only play the first three notes but itâs such a nice touch!
Nice catch!
I did actually catch the âYou just blow into it.â joke. It made smile. The whole thing made me smile.
As someone who grew up with bad video game adaptations Iâm so grateful for this new era of accurate adaptations of games. From Detective Pikachu to Sonic to Last of Us to Mortal Kombat to now Super Mario Bros.
And besides, no matter what you think of Chris Pratt's Mario voice it'll be the least of our problems.
Donât forget Rampage.
I still love the original Mario movie, still always makes me laugh
I think the bar is gonna be set by Rampage, Detective Pikachu, and this. Honorable mention to Sonic 2 (cut the human stuff down movie makers please!).
@KazeAizen the human parts are very important in pokemon and sonic games, rampage maybe too
Love the fan service being not force and working with it into scenes. Love this clip and can't wait for this. Hope to get Yoshi.
Well the recent trailer did showed a quick moment where yoshis are running around, so it can be possible we may see the adorable green yoshi we all know and love đ
@@firemiracle Hope to get The Main Green Yoshi in this.
Itâs not just the music the many Easter eggs that are here
Itâs just insane
It's a testament to Koji Kondo's musical genius that his chiptune compositions can be worked so seamlessly into a big movie fully orchestral soundtrack.
It's not really that surprising considering Koji Kondo is composing the score for the movie alongside Brian Tyler. I'm relatively sure Koji Kondo himself is the one that weaved his music into Brian Tyler's score. If it was anyone else other than Koji Kondo doing the composing, I would agree that this would be a testament to both his musical genius and the genius of the composer. However, given that, more than likely, Koji Kondo himself is the one that has been weaving his music through the orchestral score, I'm not really surprised it sounds this good. Is it still impressive? Yes. But if the Original Composer can't make his music sound good, we've got a problem. đ
Mario's world depends so much on the tone of the music. Koji Kondo is a music master and craftsman of really good catchy tunes.
This movie is already my movie of 2023, too! I loved how they implemented all of those classic themes into the score of this ONE SMALL CLIP!
I can only imagine what the score will be like for the rest of the film! Those guys are doing Mario some really justice, and I am all for it! đ
As much as I've liked the first 2 Sonic movies, even they weren't this faithful to the source material.
This trailer gives me so much goosebumps, nostalgia overload and i love it!
Man you're happy energy is so contagious, I found myself smiling and dancing all the way through the video đ
Awesome! Thank you!
Your welcome, dude
The Captain Toad theme also sneaks in there when we first see all of the Toads walking around in the beginning, and the way Mario moves around and runs looks just like he did in 3D World! Like.. I was already gonna love this movie regardless of the final product, but it's really telling that in only 90 seconds they were able to pack in so much love and attention to detail that they really didn't have to. Just one year ago I was super excited Sonic 2 and now I get to be super excited for a Mario movie, what a time we live in
I'd say we're about 2 months early on this one. I was hype for Sonic 2 from the first trailer but it was the Death Egg Robo from the Super Bowl commercial that sent me into hyperdrive. This movie came out the gates swinging with references and nostalgia, I've watched so many reactions and breakdowns already and every one of them finds something new.
Hearing the music brings back childhood memories when I was playing Super Mario Bros back then.đ„°đ¶â€ïž
It remained nostalgic about the good old days đ€§đź
I am probably going to cry of nostalgia overload in the theater, this movie is going to be legendary!
This is one thing that I think is SORELY missing from the current Sonic the Hedgehog media (games and movies etc) Sure Greenhill zone music was a little easteregg. But OG sonic sound track is AMAZING, and sooooo under used. Its really a crime they don't embrace it like this mario movie has his respective franchise's music. .
Well, it doesnât matter; I still love the Sonic games and movies.
I listen to a lot of OSTs, and I really appreciate the leitmotif callbacks to classic games, even though I haven't played a lot of Mario games myself.
I always love how much fun your having without needing to be overly critical of stuff. Just brings a smile to me
Omg, I have been waiting my whole life for a super Mario movie and now they are finally getting their act together and making my childhood dream come true. Glad to see you're supporting this movie as much as me, BN can't wait for your next video. đšâđ§đ
I think I'm going to unironically love the soundtrack.
They really did their research. I'm so happy this movie exists. I thought the Silent Hill movie was impressive for using music directly from the game, but this even better
It just feels like Illumination's hitting all the right notes with this movie. It's legit got me HYPED!
If only a certain hedgehog would ALSO incorporate his soundtrack into his movie.
The amount of references in this clip alone is just wonderful. The NES joke, the crazy cap, the excellent music and of course, he did the run from 3D World. This movie is truly gonna be something special. Also massive props for including the BOP from the New Super Mario Bros games. Man, I'm gonna be doing the same thing I did with the Sonic movies, just pointing at every single detail.
It's impressive how seamlessly they incorporate all those themes in such a short timeframe. It just flows so organically!
I canât wait for your 40 minute analysis of all the Easter eggs when this movie comes out
i never seen this mans heart so full of joy
The movie looks absolutely beautiful
Nintendo is like, "Sega made a movie... that's great, great, really good movie. Time to take em to school."
Its so awesome that you mentioned the Mario Bros cartoon. Speaking of that did you notice that the first trailer literally used the classic theme from the cartoon intro when Mario shoots out of the pipe Andre?
The "you have to blow into it" joke has to be one of the best gags in the movie. ^^
This movie is such a labor of love, and it shows in the music.
I guarantee you. On the opening day of this movie. There will be more adults at the premieres. We've all wanted something like this since we were kids. Yes we had the '93 movie but this one is truly the movie we wanted back then. So many references and call backs for all the kids who grew up with these characters and games.
This movie comes out 2 days before my birthday. I turn 30 this year and you can be damn sure that me and all my friend will be seeing this for my birthday and have the best time!!
I'm so hyped for this Movie. I used to play Mario Kart on The Nintendo Wii.đ
Thereâs so much material for this game. I swear, they mess this up. Hit us with the comet âïž
I remember being 10 years old and seeing the original Mario movie on the cinema with my parents, 30 years later and I'll be returning to the cinema to see this Mario movie with my own kids. :D
Finally someone else caught the blow into the cartridge reference
I love the added horns makes me feel like Iâm walking through some Mario themed Downtown Disney. If they donât have this playing at Nintendo World they need to.
100% agreed
Gorgeous art design
Epic music
Great cast
Tons and tons of easter egss
SO HYPE
its just nice to get something thats great quality and something we can just enjoy and laugh and for us 40 somethings, maybe get a little emotional for all the nostalgia, and just have fun with
Having Mario kind of walking around, gawking at the Mushroom kingdom, while that music plays is so reminiscent of what they're doing with Nintendo Land theme parks. I would say this is a great way to introduce people to the feel of what they get when they get there.
I never imagined that Mushroom Kingdom is such a hazardous place đ
The fact that Brian Tyler and Koji Kondo are working on this score is enough to get my attention for this movie! I'm so excited for April 7th, man!
You missed one last music theme Andre, right before the trailer ends you hear Super Mario Galaxy.
Also, I noticed Mario giving back the coin to the Toad. Not only does that establish his personality, but I could see another portly plumber, in yellow and purple, approaching this situation quite differently.
Buddy, You Can't not make me not smile or excited watching your videos, I JUST FEEL SO PUMPED
This is why I love Andre! I can always trust him to know his stuff! đ€
When the movie's soundtrack comes out, I AM SO BUYING IT!!!!!
Yes! Thank you for breaking down the music! Been waiting for someone to do that! Also I noticed, When Toad says âHey Chantrell!â The toad that responds back sounds more like The Toad from the video games!
So Samantha Kelly's making cameos for the film too?
That clip is so cute, I've seen it! The music is definitely great!
What I've seen and heard so far is beautiful. I'm really looking forward to this movie.
Illumination is going all in on the history and lore of Mario and pushing it to 11.
A couple you missed:
There are three notes of the SMB1 underwater theme when Mario looks at the Cheep Cheep
The underground theme plays while Mario is walking on the floating bricks
0:24 Also, if you listen to when Toad shoves the green dude out of the way, he has his classic Toad shout or yell just like the game. I was surprised to hear that original screechy yell Toad had in the games in the movie as well!
Now if only they could make the Sonic movies' soundtrack like this instead of tiny little musical nods through a piano and ringtone.
When mario comes out of the pipe at the end also sounds like when you completed a level on the old games
I'm just gonna say it:
Movie Mario sounds better the more I hear him.
Bro, I'm so glad someone's talking extensively on the score. I'm already wanting to hear them mix in some of Bowser's Theme music, Peach's Castle theme, Rainbow Road, music from Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong, Luigi's Mansion and much more!
3:45 That frame is meme material right there đ€Ł
Gotta love the music they used for the movie, I can't wait to see this movie đđđđđđ
The visual humor in this film is ON POINT. I didn't even notice the visual references and gags the first time I watched the clip until Andre pointed it out. This movie gonna' force me to spoil it before it even comes out because now i'm gonna' be looking out for more clips just so I can see how they manage to nail such amazing attention to detail from the games themselves!
The hype just keeps coming.
I just finally got to watch it, and lemme tell you something. It's already a 10/10 what they did using the coin blocks as the financial system of the Mushroom Kingdom đđ». Reminded me greatly of the great use of the rings in the Sonic movies.
Andre, just want to say thank you so much for all the marvelous videos and entertainment you always bring in! Been watching since 2014, and your videos have always cheered me up greatly đ„. Thank you for all your fantastic work
the music from the establishing shot right before the coin atm shots for toads is from mario odyssey « fossil falls » ;)
I'm happy you're happy Andre. Can't wait for when this is out and we get the full rundown
This movie is clearly a love letter to the fans...â€ïžđ
only the real ones will see the mario 3d world reference at 1:06 when mario runs to a floating platform
The Mario Movie isn't even released yet...and it's going to be the best video game/movie adaption ever. This is now the new standard going forward
4:23 You missed this. I caught it. At the end of the song near the Antique shop, you can hear a 1-UP jingle being integrated into the song.
The Sonic movies definitely need to incorporate the video game music more than stuff like Uptown Funk and Tricky lol, glad the Mario movie is actually using it's catalogue of tracks
Makes sense that there are so many reference to the games, Miyamoto worked on it.
4:38 Andre you missed "Underground theme" when Chris Mario talks about the floating blocks.
This movie is gonna make millions of dollars
Sure it will đ„±
If Universal releases a Super Mario Movie soundtrack on CD, I'm buying it immediately
Ditto!
This is going to be an event. The score is so seemlessly blended in from past Mario games, the animation is top tier, the way it's honoring Mario's history. Can't wait for 2023!
Seriously the music is everything I could have imagined and more. The amount of nostalgia I get from hearing it is insane. I really hope we get a Rainbow Road music remix
I think Illumination might actually be quite good creating cinematic cutscenes for the next Mario games as well!
my man I am loving your enthusiam for this film!!!
This movie better kill it at the box office to set a new precedent for any adaptation of any kind
I really hope they release the OST, knowing how strict Nintendo is with their music
I get more excited for this movie everyday
I got personal favorites that are probably not in the movie but would love to hear your rendition of it for future Mario movies
- Vanilla Dome (SMW)
-Underwater (Mario 64)
-Rainbow Road ( OG Super Mario Kart)
-Bowser Battle (SMW, Mario 64)
-Mario Circuit (OG Super Mario Kart)
Hell yeah! The music had me happy as hell. And there was so much going on in the background I felt like I was having a stroke.
At the beginning of the clip you can hear the Mario odyssey theme also at 2:02 you can see Mario run like he did in Mario 3D world
Couple songs I hope makes it, Bowsers Castle from Super Mario World, and âDo The Marioâ from Lou Albano.
Here I was looking at this title and thinking it was about the theme dropping during the second trailer's title reveal (you know, when everyone was still hype from rainbow road)
Bro the music sounds amazing OMG!! This is my most hype movie of next year that isnât Spiderverse 2 baby!! Iâve been wanting this movie since I first played Mario when I was 7
Trust the fungus! LOL! That's a deep cut.
Yeah, I'm going to buy so much from this movie. It's going to hit hard and I'm excited.
Yep, glad to hear some appreciation for this movie's music because while not as prominent as the stunning visuals and all the references it's just as fantastic AND full of references, too!
I'm so looking forward to this movie, definitely watching it at the nearest movie theater as soon as it comes out!
I hope the sonic movie team learn from this. I still waiting to hear live and learn at the end of the third
Is it rather in your face on the fan service? Arguably.
Is it too long in establishing how this is a world transplanted straight from the games? Perhaps.
But dangnabit it looks so pretty and faithful to its source material I can't help but love it. Every new trailer and clip makes me more excited and I'm so legit hyped for this rather than treating it as n odd curiosity.
The whole issue about fanservice is how and when to "serve" it.
In most cases, fanservice is great when it's incorporated into the work in a way that you could take it out of the scene without affecting the idea being presented. In other words, the scene is interesting and good in itself, and the fanservice just complements what you're already seeing. It's that feeling that the game/film/show looked at you and said. "I got you my dude."
The opposite of this is when fanservice is used to fill a content hole. If you take it out, there's nothing left to hold your interest. In those cases it's when you feel like the writer/director has forced it in, it feels cheap because ultimately it is. That's why in the Mario movie, although obvious, the fanservice works so well. Because it seems to come from a place of respect for the character, complementing the story.
Especially as all the rest of the work has received attention and care. Unlike other works (which I won't name so as not to derail this point), that you don't feel that the character's origin was respected, so when fanservice appears, it is used as a crutch to hold your attention rather than a spice to expand what is already good.
If they manage to get N64's Rainbow Road music in this movie, I might actually spontaneously combust in the theater.
I am with you on Movie of the Year...I will say they should have released it on March 10...Mar10...but hey, April works too!
LET'S A GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I'm hoping that the Brooklyn scenes will include some of the motifs from more Brooklyn centered Mario installments, like the Super Show, or even the 93 movie!
The music, the visuals, I'm also excited for the movie. And your hype is making me more hyped.
This is so fun to watch. I'm a big soundtrack dork, and also played all the older games and so it's fun to see somebody get really excited about all the soundtrack nods.
I could think of a ton of other nods I'd love to hear: NES water, underworld and castle level music, the airship music from Super Mario 3 or even some of the overworld music (I really loved the ice level map music!).
I know itâs not part of the score but can we talk about Luigiâs ringtone being the GameCube start up sound? Pure excellence.
