Sort of right, but the whole story is that politicians are people least suited for the job.
That is one of the principal pillars of democracy.
You don't want technocrats or epistocrats in power !
To balance their stupidity there is the notion of 'democratic dignity' which means that it's OK to be stupid while warming up your parliament seat, but you MUST listen to critics from the people you represent.
If you don't do that, or worse, stifle those critics, then you are a stupid potentate.
The voice of the people therefore is the second pillar of democracy. Free speech is of vital importance.
What people tend to forget is that free speech also contains the right to be offended. I may not like all that is said in social media or otherwise, but I sure as hell want access to those opposing thoughts, even if it offends me !

Hefty Alan - good man, it’s a terrible crime that could well benefit from being a capital offence. However, it is equally terrible to use the abuse selectively as a tool against only one section of society - if you abuse children, no matter what your colour or religious background, you should go down.

Eugene Kelly I completely agree. ALL of them regardless of sex too as there is female who has been in 10 years and thinking of giving her parole. Obviously the people say no but the politicians are currently thinking maybe. I am hardline on these issues and there was a time when political parties were too. Average Joe or Billionaire I don't care get the evidence and get thee into the dock if it is sufficient. The last time I looked it is how the law works.

I have lived in Rotherham all my life...almost 70 years. I have got to know many people, not via social media but by newspapers & their readers' views. There was a lady who lived not far from me, now passed away, who spoke up about young girls & children were being groomed & gang raped. Her letters regarding this abhorrent practice were sent frequently to our local newspaper complaining of such as she had reported true facts to the local police, council and councillors. Result ? The police and council sent her packing accusing her of bigotry. And the local councillors ? They pleaded ignorant of any wrongdoings as they had received no police reports..... !!!!!! Conclusion? Everything was swept under the carpet to suit what they believed to be anti Pakistani remarks.
All this could have been dealt with in the appropriate manner to bring these paedophiles to justice by locking them away, hence preventing further abuse being targeted at the children of Rotherham.
I do wonder if she was alive today, knowing what she knew all along to be true, what she would do or say to those in so called authority today ? How right you were MG.....

Tommy Robinson did not hijack this cause, he saw it played down , hushed up and something too political for many to touch. He had the courage to pick it up and hold it aloft for all to see and has been attacked by the state and the media for doing so ever since. He has never submitted to the pressure and physical pain inflicted upon him for not dropping it. He has sacrificed everything, given his heart and freedom to keeping it visable while the state makes him look like the villian when they themselves are the evil ones. Typical misdirection. look at what they are doing to him and the nasty things they inflict on him and his family. You say he has hijacked it for Personal gain! personal loss and heartache is all he has for his trouble and you think he does this because it benefits him. He is someone all people should look at with admiration , not scorn. Tommy can look at himself in the mirror and know he has done the right thing in his heart. Can you?

A bit of courage ? Are you out of your mind? Tommy Robinson is a hero with incredible courage actually!!! He has endured death threats, physical and emotional and mental abuse, having his heart at the idea that he s responsible for putting his own family through hell with him that's real courage
Everyone else is a coward with blood on their hands and look at themselves tonight in the mirror and say it's time to be part of the solution God bless all of Great Britain and everyone in the world that just wants to live are lives in peace and security

Tommy was deliberately silenced. Watch the video. The police clearly state TWICE that Tommy is being arrested for 'breach of the peace'. No mention is made of contempt at all. Whatever you think about his politics, he is a political prisoner. Just as in totalitarian regimes, the crime is sorted out after arrest, detention and imprisonment. There needs to be an inquiry into his treatment by the State, but I doubt any human rights lawyer will take it on … now if he was an Islamist ...

Mollylurcher, you can be arrested for one crime, but charged with a different one, mate. based on the definition of "breaching the peace", and his previous cases of interfering with court trials, it shouldn't be hard to understand why the police decided to take him in

    • @Mollylurcher
      @Mollylurcher Před 6 lety +9

You think this is to protect the rights of some 'alleged' rapists? The establishment doesn't give a fuck about their rights, any more than those of their victims. Just look at the number of rape gangs that have been exposed and then think of how many gangs there will really have been, since this went on for decades before being tackled at all. This level of mass organised rape and torture took massive collusion by just about every arm of the State: police forces, social services, schools, judiciary, lawyers, local councils, all the major political parties, especially Labour and the Conservatives, the Crown Prosecution Service, national Government, the national newspapers and press, BBC, ITV, academia etc. ... need I go on?
Think about that a minute. Where the fuck were they? Everyone we are supposed to trust to protect us and our children colluded in our children being raped ... gang raped and tortured, probably some killed too, for years, for decades, all over the country. Think of the fucking misery. That's third-world levels of misery, for years, on your doorstep, of the most vulnerable people who we should all have protected.
No, the establishment doesn't give a fuck about the rights of some scumball guys. They are protecting themselves because if the whole truth ever came out, all the political parties would be toast. Why do you think nobody in the establishment/media/intelligentsia/academia takes an interest or demands an inquiry into all this mess?
Tommy's real crime is thinking that the establishment will let him get to the bottom of this shitemare without shutting him up. But don't go down this route. Go back to your Guardian and BBC and they'll help you square the circle that makes victims out of the rapists and demonises the one person with a public profile who has consistently tried to highlight the plight of these children. And sleep well with your liberal conscience, remembering that Ghandi broke the law as did MLK and probably everyone else you admire. But Tommy Robinson is just a racist Nazi and deserves to rot in hell ...

Tommy Robinsons business model just slapped him back in his face, he makes money through social media followings from those individuals who are gullible in believing life is a us vs them situation (bnp and EDL members mostly).. and he thrives off tensions between communities as he knows this will increase his popularity with the not so well read white man (those that will help fund him) ... surely rape is rape right, regardless what kind of man commits it.. his biggest down fall is him chasing solely Asian men who were accused of rape even though there are weekly reportings of rape and pedophilia being committed by white Englishmen too. Ofcourse this doesn't take away from the fact that he's exposing evil men... But it must be very very coincidental that he goes after men that happen to be of the same ethnicity. I don't have respect for this guy, there's many white men who are trying to expose rapists and pedos regardless of the culprits background.. Tommy was trying to come across as being a hero of the nation while also implementing his racial prejudices.

Liberalism has been hi-jacked by the far left. The two positions are actually not compatible, but somehow over the last twenty years or so, the liberalista has been railroaded down an unpleasant side street, and veered away from advocacy of free speech, and the upholdoing of human rights of victims of crime, and have instead been turned into authoritarian, race obssessed bigots, with an ideology centered around identity politics. It's sad to see. I always regarded myself as a liberal, and I've always been left of centre in my politics, but there is something very unsettling and unsavoury about what large swathes of the left have become.

Just as teachers turn a blind eye to bullying in classrooms, authorities are going after demonstrators, rather than attacking the cause of society's problems. They want to look like they are doing something for the public's money. They want to look as though they are earning an honest wage. They are not.
*Go after the real trouble makers of society, not those who speak out against them! If you expect us to be colour blind to other races, then you shouldn't fear being called a racist. Her friend states later to her mum she had been drugged a raped! (this was 17 years ago btw). My daughter said she was not raped ,basically because she refused the drink she was offered. Needless to say, the cops failed to charge them stating (yep, NOT enough 'evidence'). The only thing that has changed in 17 years? is that this type of vile crime has only got much worse. He only went in hiding because of the fictional book "The satanic verses" which had nowt to do with occultism. It shook the Arab and Islamic world up and they were calls for his death. This was 1989 or herein around. If that was 2022, he would be a victim of Cancel Culture, even if he also is the same Ethencity as them and all his future books hence non fiction would never have been published.
