Thank you. I’m a 65 year old man and I am recently widowed. my wife took care of these things for me. Today I discovered I had a hole in the pocket of my favorite pants now thanks to your video I was able to fix it myself even though I’d give the world to have my wife here fixing it for me.
I am so sorry to hear that. I'm glad you found my video useful. Take care.
I hope you're doing well sir
Bless you. I hope you’re at peace today.
❤
Hope You're still here now
This comment just made me cry. Bless your heart sir. ❤
This video is pure genius. First the colored threads on a dark cloth so easy to see. Second, the text provided explanation for each stitch. Great for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Every stitch shown was explained so well. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! ♥️
😂😉feel the same
Ohhh my god so true. I saw so many videos that were hard to understand or unnecessarily packed with detail. This one is simple and bright, and anyone can understand it. Thanks so much Nutty!
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Thank you so much .it was short and sweet.
Now THIS is a proper beginners sewing tutorial. These stitches are literally the only thing I remember about 7th grade home economics.
Thanks for your comment 😊
7TH GRADE? Im in 4th grade and im learning sewing.-.
@@Jarpie you want a cookie?
I’m here for 7th grade home economics
i learned sewing in kindergarden 😳 but i dont remember ANYTHING
this helped me a lot, thank you. and thank you so much for not doing some 20 second intro and trying to sell yourself out throughout the video. just a basic tutorial, like how youtube used to be.
Thank you so much for your comment! =)
Yes I agree. Most videos I watch. I end up skipping on to another one just cause they say 10min worth of useless crap. When the actual information needed was only 30sec to 1 minute long.
Agree! I am adding this to a playlist for my middle-schoolers. Thank you!
I don't know why I read this in a sarcastic Lisa Simpson voice.
@@ophanornoel5826, lol...I didn't, until I read your comment.
I like the bare-bones-no-nonsense approach of this tutorial. It helps the viewer focus on the lesson. I don't own a sewing machine, and I have things to mend and patches to apply. This is the best hand sewing video I've been able to find. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your comment 😊
You're welcome. Happy New Year!
Same to you! 😊
i mostly wanna sew for fashion and mending stuff but idk how to thread our sewing machine so i figure learning to sew by hand will be better
Omg after watching so many "how to sew" videos on CZcams as a beginner, I can hands on my heart say this is the only video that has enabled me to master the sewing basics in less than half an hour (having previously never sewed before!!)
Thank you so much! I honestly cannot thank you enough!
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment!! I'm really glad it helped =D
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm really glad it helped =)
this comment helps me

Bruh half an hour I’ve spent an hour trying to get the thread in the loop of the needle salute you bro🫡
Im starting to make doll cloths and just these three is helping so much! Thanks!

LunaWolf Lotus glad to hear after 3 years! how’s your quarantine ☺️
ashley pham amazing XDD
Well I’m making little people with button eyes I’m a beginner
This actually is the best video ive found at explaining every stitch and doesn't have tons of talking👍🏾
Thank you so much! =)
Agree! Exactly what I needed! Basic and clear, not a second of wasted time talking.
update ??
Great tutorial!! I not only appreciate the simple and concise demonstration, I appreciate that you used black fabric and different colors of thread!! Finally a tutorial that is easy to see the thread separately from the fabric!!!! Makes all the difference!! Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for your comment!! =)
This is impossible with manhands.
EDIT: This is not impossible with manhands.
cohletrain I’m a girl but have got man hands.. so I’m hoping you’re right
Thank you cohletrain
😂😂😂😂
cohletrain Well that was a wonderful, unexpected plot twist!!
lol XD
*What is this sorcery?!* The first tip, how to tie the knot by rolling your thumb & finger - I was like, huh? Then I tried it myself, and it worked every time! mind... blown. lol
The Sleeping Giant the same thing happened to me when i tried it for the first time last week lol😂
Well i can't do it, it doesn't make knot.
oh shit i did it! :D
the knot was too thin and just went straight through tne needle's hole :'( I will discard this pillow i give up.
i'll try again another day maybe
I've just gone from 0 knowledge to being able to do 3 different types of stitches! Messy stitches but still! XD Thank you! :P
Yup. Internet is such a big blessing to humankind :D

I procrastinated taking my wedding dress to the tailor to sew on my bridal sash, and thanks to this video, I was able to do it myself. Thank you!
How sweet ❤️ thank you for sharing!
If any of yall wanna cosplay especially if ur doing handmade stuff this is an absolute must or at least strongly recommended
I'm ready to take on making those facemasks now.
Yassss
step 1 learn to sew
step 2 buy materials.
step 3 learn to make masks using sewing skills.
step 4 profit.
Does this sound about right?
Same here
Don't bother. They don't work.
@@peterboyce6128 What do you mean they don't work? The masks don't work? They do. Also your sounding like a karen
Sewing some patches on my hiking pants and shorts to be more sustainable than buying new clothes, this was a straight and to the point tutorial thank you very much! Very helpful!
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you found it useful 😊
I have absolutely no experience in sewing at all. I've had a lot of free time and I've wanted to pick up a new hobby and this is the first video to actually help me. All the other ones I've watched go straight into stitching and I didn't even know how to apply the thread onto the needle... This was super helpful and easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad you found it helpful 😊
hello! so, my mom taught me the very very basics of sewing* when I was eight, and now, 22 years later, I want to pick it up as a crafting hobby. the most I've done in the past is sloppily (but functionally 😅) hem my non-formal pants. and just from the first couple of minutes, you have already taught me wayyyy more efficient tying knots and a better way to hold the fabric so I'm not hurting my shoulders and neck.
just from this little video, you have made sewing so much more accessible for me! the tiny annoying things are now less annoying, and hopefully I won't destroy my neck as much 😂
*she wasn't much of a teacher tbh. I don't feel bad saying that or critiquing what she taught me lol
I used this video to teach myself how to sew a small bag thanks this is so helpful.
Wow im tripping out. my grandmother was a seamstress for her first job and i remember being interested in sewing as a small girl (7-8yo) but i couldnt get the hang of it and gave up. fast forward (16-17yo) im sewing a hole closed on a piece of clothing thinking i was a genius making up my own sewing techniques out of the blue when in reality i subconsciously remembered what my grandmother had shown me 😂 watching this video today (22yo) has humbled me n showed me that im not a naturally gifted seamstress
Lol i practiced the first 2 for a few hours on a shirt then I finally fixed my teddy bear! Thank you!! 🥳🥳 I wanted to learn to stich by hand before getting a sowing machine and this really helps! Thank you!!!!!
That's great! Thanks for sharing ☺️
Thank you! I’ve been trying to sew but for years it always fell apart! I wasn’t tying it right!
Now I’m going to make a hammock for my pets (:
And maybe more things (:
This is a fantastic tutorial. The use of different contrasting colours worked so well. I will give this a try on some scraps of cloth. Thank you!
Thanks for your comment 😊
I can't even put the stupid thread through the needle
That's because the ends of your thread became frayed. Wet the end of the thread a little and rub the end to make it "sharp". That will make it easier to thread the needle.
Try making a little loop and pushing it through, it works for me all the time.
just cut off some thread and see if the thread is straight then it will be easier to pull
You can rub some beeswax on the end of your thread to stop it from fraying while you're putting it through
You can use these thingys to make it EASIER
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I only need the basic stitches and this one helped tremendously!!! Very well done and not a lot of talking. Thanks again!!
Thanks for your comment 😊
I really appreciate that each stitch is given context; as a beginner it has been difficult to know which stitch to use when for me. I've watched other tutorials and tried things out but without any idea of what stitches to use where I just felt kinda lost in the process. This helped a lot! Thanks ☺️
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm really glad it helped ❤️
Keep up👍that was really clear and useful. You showed with your hand action instead of talking. To the point and kept it simple
Thank you for your comment 😊
So glad there’s tutorials like this free for everybody. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your comment! 😊
This is gonna help me for my clothing line that I wanna start right
Thank you! I am 25 and I never learned to sew. I want to make little pillows for my guinea pigs. I see them bunching up their bedding to lie on and it breaks my heart a little. This will help me a ton ❤
Yooooo I've never sewn anything in my life and I just fixed my Fashion Nova. You a real one. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Thanks for your comment 😊
Thanks so much! 44yr old guy here learning to see on a machine, but there are some things that are just better by hand. Just finished modifying some uncomfortable shoulder straps on my backpack and used the blanket stitch to repair what I cut out.
Saved this to my sewing play list and I’ve referenced it several times already. Thanks again!!
2:41 wow thats f'ing awesome, been trying to figure how to bring a stitch to a close like that. Awesome.
thank you so much for this video, i'm a total beginner and other tutorials were baffling me. shooting this without long intros and narrative was the right choice.
Thank you so much for your comment!! =)
That looped music starts to take hold.....the music,....it is changing me.
This tutorial is the best!!! Love the text (great for deaf or hard of hearing folks), the music is calming, and everything is so clear!!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment ☺️
This is awesome thank you, I haven't sewed for a long time, nanna past away last year :( so couldn't go back to the person who taught me originally.
I did it yay ! Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🐼🐼🐼🐼
Well done! Thanks for your comment 😊
Thank you. You have helped me fix my sweater pocket
Perfect, best tutorial I've seen so far. And finally, one where the person had the courtesy to trim their nails first!
Thank you! Now I can more confidently fix a few rips in my chair. Didn't think to double the thread.
Just the sheer thought of this video still helps people even after 7 years of being posted does make me smile
The most useful video I’ve ever encountered
Thank you 😊
I'm just a sixteen year old, but this really just saved me- I don't have any money to repair my pillow or laundry basket, and they'd both got a bunch of holes from the washer. My mom had a random sewing kit, so I decided to look up a quick tutorial to fix them real quick and your video just helped me do that, and now they're both fixed, so thanks so much!
Thank you for your comment! ❤️ I'm really glad you found it useful
This helped me alot i passed it in school and i needed it. Thank you so much for this good tutorial!
That's great!! Thanks for your comment 😊
FINALLY. A VIDEO ON HOW TO TIE OFF STITCHES. i’ve been trying to figure out how to do it forever but literally could never find ANYTHING about how to do it. And I didn’t even know the vocabulary to look it up specifically 😞
THANK YOU SO MUCH 💜
Simple, straightforward, and explanations. Easily the best how to video I've watched :D
I really like how this video flows and it's up close. I'm at the step before beginning hand sewing. Old dog learning new skill🧵❤🐕
Thank you for your comment ☺️
Thanks a lot this saved me hours a few pennies I respect that!
I'm a full-time stay-at-home parent, finally something simple and easy for me, nice short video for when the kids are up to trouble. I got lots of stitching and buttons to do now. 😅
YOU MADE THAT FIRST KNOT SO EASILY DKDNDJDK
Thank u for this easy to learn video. I've always had a rough idea on how to do most of these but was never taught right by anyone. Mostly self taught. Excellent guide tho. Thank u
Thank you so much for your comment 😊
Omg I just tried sewing from ur video and I'm pretty good for a start thanks
That's great! Thanks for your comment =)
Thank you for this tutorial! I went to work and had a hole in my pants and this helped me do an emergency stitch just to help me get through the day! It’s my first time sewing and it was super easy to understand.
Yes thank you for this video! It has helped me a lot.
Learned the knot trick in 8th grade home economics, still use it today!
The last stich you showed I use all the time but i never went back through the loop. I used to sew on band patches in my punk days that way and today sewed a blanket that had holes from my dog.
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial much love!! 💕🙂
This is how a beginner tutorial is done.. every other beginner video on sewing should take a leaf out of this.. thanks a ton...my gratitude...
Thank you so much for your lovely comment ❤️
Now i can sew my tail for my partial fursuit THANK U SO MUCH im 10 and this is easier then 123
Im too inspired
THANK YOU SO MUCH. This is the only tutorial I could find that isn’t extra and dragged out
Amaaazing...Thank you.. i needed this the most!
Classification of sewing techniques was the best part. 👌🏻
Yes I watch this at school and my CTF class is basic hand sewing
That was one of the best video tutorials I've ever seen on anything. Direct to the point. Pleasant not overbearing music. Clear bright visuals, with large simple text, not overwhelming or too slow or too fast. No obnoxious long winded hellos, random stories, comedy skits, sponsorship add, long winded introduction themes or other gimmicky nonsense. Just gets to the lesson, and I love the bright contrast used between the fabric and all the threads, to define all the 3 main stitch styles apart. I've never hand sewn a thing in my life. One of my favorite pillows got torn. I keep trying to learn from books but somehow it's not hitting my ADHD brain the right way for me to understand with a visual diagram or large amounts of text. I think you might have provided me with the perfect answer. I'm going to do my best and practice soon. Thanks again🎉
Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thank you for a straightforward and simple explanation and demonstration!!! Thank you for not having a "to the point" approach. I learn these stitches faster than I could write my thanks to you and I really appreciate it! ❤
This helped me. Thank you 🙏🏽
Hand sewing an 80s rodeo shirt down to fit. Glad I found such a useful resource
No thimble for her left thumb? I rammed the needle into my left thumb so many times that I made for myself a leather thimble.
I really enjoyed the simplicity of your video. If it wasn't 5 a.m. I would start applying the lesson immediately.
This really helped I’m learning this bc COVID 737
Thank you for this tutorial. My mom used to do these things for us. I always thought it was magic and amazing how she just does it well. Unfortunately, she passed away recently so I had to also learn these things on my own now.
I'm so thankful that you came straight to the point on what one needs to do without taking too much time on unneeded things
Thank you so much for your comment! 😊
Engineer learning how to sew, in order to make masks. Need to up my speed, but these all made sense.
That knot tying trick just saved me a bunch of time. Thanks!
I thought this is hard but ya, tnx! I thought "omg this is gonna be hard" but dont think its hard

Also me: who figured out how to do the blanket stitch without a tutorial (or even knew it was called that)
In 42 years old. I haven't tried to stitch anything since home economics in middle school, middle school is age 8-12... This video helped me a lot. Thank you Beautiful Hands that showed me how to stitch.

Loved it. Now thats what I call a simple beginner tutorial
Thank you for your comment 😊
I'm here so I can make a face mask. From what I can tell, I need a back-stitch
From someone who found Home Economics class very boring, Thank you VERY MUCH! This is a very valuable skill to have.
Thank you for your comment! 😊
well wait, how do you tie off the blanket stitch?
You can tie it off at the adjacent stitch or make 2-3 tight tying off stitches that are on the same spot for reinforcement rather than leaving a gap as you do for the regular blanket stitch =)
oh I See! So a tie off stitch is just that, just a universal tie off switch. gotcha! thanks for the reply! And double thanks for the video!
Yes exactly! You're welcome :D
@@NuttyCrafter you are the greatest. I've read several of your comment to people that didnt know how or what to do. You give great answers that are understandable and easy implement.
