  • Here I install a tailgate assist on my Tacoma.
    One of the things I like about a 3rd gen Tacoma, is how nice and smooth the tailgate opens, I did some research and found a kit for the second gen Tacoma.
    I installed it and I am very happy that my tailgate is not longer slamming everytime I open it up.
    In the video I talked about the cable getting pinch and what I do when closing the tailgate.
    watch untill the end of the video to get the info on the kit I used.
    Thanks for watching :)

    I like this mod. before you needed two hands to open now you need two hands to close. I don't mind using two hands while closing.

    Buyer beware. I installed one on my truck and it worked great...until it didn't. Because after 5 months, it totally snapped at the base. Looking at the break, it appears to be a POOR quality casting that should not have been used for any kind of strut/shock

      The shock is still working but it is loosing strength, but it still helps/assist while opening the tailgate.

    because I'm older (66) and not so strong, does it help me to raise it up to close it? Or is that a different mechanism? And if so, do they sell those as an remedy?

    • @LincolnMaxnCo
      @LincolnMaxnCo  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi,
      it does NOT have assist to close it, to the contrary it has a little more resistance while closing it, since one is closing it against the little strut.
      I am unaware if there is one that assist while closing.
