- On 10 June 1980 we all went along to the BBC rehearsal studios in London to have a chat with Legs & Co. At the time they were dancing on the BBC's flagship music programme Top of the Pops, every Thursday evening. This is the footage, (un-cut) as shot by me on the day. David Ghani was asking the questions. This was recorded on Low Band U-Matic format tape.

It's not hard to understand why we cling to these few memories of a better time.
very well put!
The late 1990s were also good.
Yes yes yes friend
It definitely gets us through the hard times
@@johnnyb8825 I can't think of anything from the late '90s that was any good.
RIP Patti Hammond and long live legs & Co!
Aww I didn’t know Patti passed away RIP! Beautiful girl!
Yes indeed .
It was 1976 when I first saw Pauline with the girls when they were part of a competition to give them the title Legs & Co. Many years later and she still makes my heart flutter.
I am a big fan of these ladies and watching this has made me appreciate them even more. Hard working every one of them. I always new that was the case
they were indeed, I grew up watching them and never once felt upset or distressed either, unlike today's rubbish which I find awful.
Nice to see all the girls together In full bloom lovely
So enjoyed this, I still get mesmerized by Patti, lovely to actually hear her, and all the girls talking
Yes , they all come over very well .
There waas obviously a great bond between them .
I noticed how all of the girls talked properly real English..how the English language has changed to almost total slang in just 40 odd years.
Very true, I was talking about this very thing with someone last week... and even all the radio presenters back then and tv presenters spoke lovely and politley ...compared to the way people speak on and off media today..big difference...There were more manners and respect back then
good point
My thoughts exactly
Yes, there are no boundaries now , sadly anything goes.
@@RetroReminiscing ...and no "like" and "ohmygod" every other word as you hear from the airheads of today.
They all speak so beautifully!
Да, красиво. Говорят красиво, но не искренне. Yes it's beautiful They say it's beautiful, but not sincere
Yes, I noticed that. Very well spoken. So polite.
It' how all ladies should speak, it's not hard.
@@irenemorley75depends where in the country you are born or if you can afford elocution lessons !
Very harmonious group, good energy between them and all very well spoken.
Loved them all, but Sue was my fave ❤ xx
Always when you look at Legs & Co.,
You can only make brief statement: "Wow!".
Watch ‘Let’s Go Round Again’ or ‘Supernature’ and wow indeed! 😍😍
Lovely, classy ladies. Sue and Lulu were my favourites. Gill looks really beautiful in this interview, though and sounds really nice.
Probably a unique video record of the girls which I am extremely grateful to have found. Very many thanks.
Ditto!
Absolute gold that you are sharing here, Colin! As historic as it is amazing! Many many thanks from many many Pan's/Legs/Flick Fans!!
totally agree!
Very attractive lucid young ladies once at ease very natural ,very well spoken ,not saying "you know" all the time unlike most so called celebrities & even MP's today ! 💘
And no mobile phones as an easy distraction.
Gill was runner up in Miss Great Britain 1976. With her beautiful hair, I can’t fathom how she didn’t win!
Thanks for sharing this brilliant footage of the group.
They look gorgeous and talk lovely.. this is a long time ago, I hope they are all around still..
Sadly Patti has departed about 4 years back.
oh wow, Lulu is a grumpy young woman on this........and then she smiled 😍😍
Brilliant upload Colin , thank you 💃📺🤗Sonique
Thank you Colin👍
Absolute gold. Thank you for this! 🙂
What a great piece of behind the scenes tv, wonderful, thank you so much for posting.
Our pleasure!
@@ColinGrimshaw Legs&Co are loved by many many millions :-)
Ha ha, don't get too excited. This was 42 years ago and we were with them for less than one hour!
@@ColinGrimshaw An hour with L&Co WHAT A PRIVILEGE !!! , i wish i was there!!! :-))
Colin thanks for this great interview. Watching them dance and then hearing how well spoken they are is refreshing
Great job .
Glad you enjoyed it
What a bevy of beautiful girls !
RIP PATTI
I enjoyed watching this, many thanks for uploading it. They come across really well. They must have been great to work with - professional but also fun.
they're so beautiful
Tell me about it!!!!!!
Gill is absolutely stunning
Lulu & Rosie are my fav 😍😍😍
fantastic video, all such beautiful girls especially sue, very well spoken as someone else remarked
Good to finally see a proper interview with the full Legs & Co, thanks for posting it. 0:42 sounds like an American accent off-camera advising Patti how to sit on her beanbag. Flick Colby maybe?
I think you're very probably right!
Flick was a maternal figure offering advices on all aspects
That's 100% definitely Flick
I used to think Flick Colby was a man!
Thanks Ladies
RIP Patti.
No way 😳 serriosly has she gone? She was my favourite girl.
@@bmac5085 Favourite to many, she was so good. Sadly she is gone.
@@bmac5085 They have all got to be in their 70s now.
@@irenemorley75Sue is getting close but hasn't arrived in the 70 's age bracket. 09-09-55 . I wish they would have a reunion and interview. Time can be difficult to accept. Most of the ladies just want to preserve their Legs& Co memories and not have to deal with idiotic criticism from disappointed fans wishing that they looked the same.
WHAT A GREAT BUNCH OF GIRLS . STAY SAFE .
Gill 😍😍😍
Gorgeous !
Rossie estaba hermosísima!!
Classy, well-spoken girls... albeit recorded by the Beeb 43 years ago. Sue Menhenick was always my teenage favourite... those legs !!!
Not recorded by the BBC, but rather by me. It was recorded AT the BBC rehearsal studios (by me).
I used to copy her apparently as a little girl
I was fascinated by her surname. I use to think she was American, until I heard her speak. Might be because of Flick Colby.
Brilliant and uncut
Patti was definitely my favourite dancer.
mine were Rosie & Sue...
First time I have seen this thanks for posting it on line Clive grieves
Finally Someone Who Can Make A Bean Bag Work
The cameraman seemed to like Gill, A LOT.
Ha ha, that was ME on camera for this recording :-)
@@ColinGrimshaw You have excellent taste!
Who can blame him, er Colin.
Can't say I blame him
Can you blame him!!
Flick was a clever girl
Many thanks for this
Loved sue !
Thanks for sharing!
Loved gill. Wonder where she is today
Absolutely stunning and the most attractive Legs member imho
Depending on the routine, favorites (in no particular order) are Andi Rutherford (Pan's), Sue Menhenick, Pauline Peters, and Rosie Hetherington.
All lovely girls, but I loved Pauline, dark haired beauty. 😉
Just after the strike had begun on Top of the Pops.
Posh girls too!
Yes. But very nice girls. Personality as well as looks wise.
Gill is extremely well spoken
You mean they are well spoken, being well spoken does not make one posh🙄
My wife use to turn over when Legs & co came on grrr spoil sport lol but they were great though as were Pams people even though I don't really member them as much as was just starting primary school I think
Susie was my favorite and Pauline, i remember 2003 when they were on Ant & Dec's program and they still had the moves and looks.
I bet your wife wasn't the only one who di dthe quick channel flick when they came on ha ha ha
Sue, you were not very lucky….you were VERY talented!
Extraordinary,, remember to everyone,,, wawwww nice and fine.. Rossy, patty,, lulu, Guil,, Sue,, Pauline.. I love
Well spoken.
Yes Flick Colby
Ślicznotki
Dad would banish the kids and enjoy TOTPs in splendid isolation. When you were 5 it was a puzzle but when you were 15 common sense!
What was he doing 🤣😂
this is cool, all posh.
They are not posh at all, they just know how to speak ,people are just too lazy to talk properly today.
It's quite interesting to see them sitting still, speaking normally, with the camera getting a good look at their faces. From this interview, at least in 1980, it seems quite clear to me that Gill was the prettiest one. But the fascinating thing is that when they are on stage dancing that can change, and other girls can look the most beautiful at different times. I have seen dances where I thought Lulu was clearly the prettiest, and others were I thought it must be Rosie, except when she makes faces.
Watch the routine to ‘It’s My Turn’ in January 1981, Gill at her most beautiful in my opinion
Sue was the best dancer
Rosie was just 21 here
wow!!
She was born in 1960 that makes her 20 in 1980.
She literally grew up on the show, starting at 16.
I read that Rosie was also 16 when she started, and Gill was 17. That makes you wonder: What did they do when Legs & Co was done, and they were all three still in their early 20's? It must have seemed surreal.
There’s an episode in April 1981 where Mike Read mentions it’s Rosie’s 21st birthday… before asking her if she likes night games. The song, that is 😝
Who are the girls from left to right? The only one I recognize is Sue Mehenick in the center. Thanks.
Watch the very start and Dave Ghani goes through the girls names.
Pay attention!

Colin was this clip ever shown on tv ?
No, this has never been on broadcast TV
@@ColinGrimshaw Amazing!, i have so many questions to ask you,but i know this is impossible here.
@@ColinGrimshaw Thank you for uploading it! It gives a perspective we can't get from just watching the routines.
Which project was this filmed for?
It wasn't shot for any project as such. It was made by STOIC, the Student TV service of Imperial College London.
Oh Pauline....[swoon]
What's David Ghani doing these days?
He's doing just fine !
@@ColinGrimshaw 👌
Bring back legs a co for God sack
Is a god sack for carrying gods ?
What the hell is a god sack 😂?
I can’t imagine routines like ‘Hands Up’ and ‘Supernature’ being shown on prime time BBC these days 😂
PLEASE anyone know what sue rosie gill pauline lulu are up to in 2023 ?? did they all get married ??
Lulu breeds alpacas! (and yes she's married, sorry 😂)
So did Pauline get married
Patti is dead now from an illnes
I believe Pauline gave exercise dance classes in south London years after quitting Legs & Co
no they are just well educated
They’re all sound so middle class. You still had to in those days, things weren’t all better back then.
What you mean they don’t call everyone bruh, and try and talk like black gangsters? Right… things are so much better now people can’t even speak the kings english.
Elles sont assez timides et réservées.
The brunette far left I think is Anita Mahadervan who played a nurse in One Foot In The Grave. Bit of useless information there for ya😂
Ahhh, did you actually watch this video?
@@ColinGrimshaw just till I got bored about three minutes in😂
Ah, there you go then...pays to watch things in full :-)
It is not Anita it is Patti Hammond.Anita didn't join until 1981.
