Decided to share my rankings :] took much longer than I expected but oh well Tropical House- A (what's there to hate about this genre tbh, it's just carefree summer vibes) Happy Hardcore- S (energetic, great melodies, really fun to headbang to. Stonebank is my go to for this genre) Dubstep/Brostep- C (I agree with what you said) Big Room- B (this one has gotten old for me but it's nice, nothing fantastic but it's still solid) Jersey Club- D (I saw someone say this genre only works as a switchup and I agree, by itself it doesn't hold up enough for me to like it) New Beat/Cyberpunk- C (very unique, would work really well in dystopian sci-fi movie soundtracks. I need to listen to it more to see if it'd grow on me) Deep House- F (Maybe it's because most clothing stores play really bland edm, but this feels so generic and there's nothing that gets me into the genre at all. It doesn't help that this is the kind of house I've heard most after prog) Psytrance- B (I remember hearing this one for the 1st time in Side Effects by Stray Kids and was like "whoa what in the world-" lol it can be minimalistic but overall it's very groovy) Glitch Hop- S (so good, I love video game elements in edm. Really cool idea! :D My favourite genre is House and in it is Progressive House that absolutely stands out. Also Dream Trance, Progressive Trance and Uplifting Trance are also close favourites. My weak spot is Jersey Club, you can erase me from existence with this genre. But Color Bass and generic Future Bass and Trap songs are also my least favourite too.

i usually just see if i vibe with the song in general or nah instead of the genres, but if i have to rank itd be this S - glitch hop, melodic dubstep, future house/bounce A - DnB, new beat, complextro, neurofunk, drumstep, breaks B - happy hardcore, prog house, future bass, chillstep, trap, jungle terror, nu disco, synthwave/pop C - big room, deep house, hardstyle, color bass, bass house D - brostep, moombahcore F - jersey club, psytrance Z - chickenstep, deathstep
My thoughts on each of these genres (I'm going to split up Future House & Future Bounce since I have completely different thoughts on the 2 genres, and I will add a few that I think may have been missed): Tropical House: There has only really been one or two tropical house songs that I really like, and the rest are mid. Result: D Happy Hardcore: A genre that while does fit my fast paced taste, just doesn't quite click with me. Still better than tropic house though. Result: C Brostep: Can sometimes be a little slow, but I tend to like heavier stuff, so this genre is still quite appealing to me. Result: B Big Room: I can't think of any big room songs that i've heard that I actually really like, not terrible though. Result: D Jersey Club: It's like a Walmart future bass. I like the fast paced nature of it, and can be quite catchy like with Runaway TARI Remix, but in general worse than a genre like brostep. Result: B New Beat: Other than some of the super repetitive Max Brhon songs like Humanity and The Future, I really like this genre. Prolly top 5-6 genre I've heard overall. Result: A Deep House: This genre is very hit or miss for me. Songs like Migraine and Double D go hard, but some of the more recent deep house tracks are just slow and boring. Not the worst genre, but certainly not great overall. Result: D Psytrance: Generally not a genre that I go out of my way to listen to, and another one that doesn't totally click with me, but still just isn't bad at all. Probably the top of it's tier. Result: C Glitch Hop: It's very hard to find a genre that is as consistently awesome as glitch hop. Just so many nostalgic and pure banger songs that fall under this banner. Result: S Hardstyle: There's 2 different sides to this genre. There's the great side (ElementD's stuff), and there's the bad side (Main Reaktors stuff), with very little in between. Bottom of it's tier. Result: B Chickenstep: 1 word - overhated. Result: C Moombahcore: I just don't listen to this genre enough to really adequately rate it. I have similar thoughts to you though, but would put it tier higher ig. Result: C Progressive House: There are some bangers from this genre, and I'd prefer it to tropical house, but too many old songs from this genre that kill my enjoyment, and are super generic at times. I do like the more modern takes on the genre now (ie. Back To You, If I Disappear). Result: C Future House: Tons of boring future house tracks that i've heard with a few good ones sprinkled in. Overall not a fan. Result: D Future Bounce: Wayyyyy better than future house imo, so much more energy typically, and way catchier in general. Great genre. Result: A Complextro: I feel I would like to enjoy this genre more than I actually do. It definitely has song bangers like A Day At Sea, but in general the songs are somewhere in the meh-good range. Result: B Trap: There are so many trap songs that it's kinda tough to classify, but I feel like the genre in general is pretty overhated and there are just so many great trap songs that I've heard that I have to rank it high. Result: A Drum & Bass: Even the most generic song from this genre can still be a good/great if not phenomenal song to be, just a genre with essentially no misses and a ton of hits. A top 2-3 genre imo. Result: S Neurofunk: Just drum and bass but more gritty (which is good), but with a lot more misses in general since the BPM is typically lower (which I don't like as much). Still a amazing genre in general, barely missing out on top tier. Result: A Drumstep: So many amazing drumstep songs, it seems like the best genres have been saved for last. Similar to neurofunk, just barely missing out on the top tier, but an amazing genre overall. Result: A Jungle Terror: In general kinda overhated, I like it more than most due to the faster pacing. Not much else to say. Result: B Nu Disco: Very groovy, but can be a little basic/generic at times which I'm not the biggest fan of. Another genre I haven't really heard too much of, but I like it when I do hear it generally. Result: B Synthwave/Pop: Meh, there are some good ones, there are some bad ones, slightly more bad than good, making it the top of it's tier. Result: D Deathstep: Don't know basically anything about it other than what's being played in this video, sounds cool though. Result: B Color Bass: Another hit or miss genre. I essentially have the same thoughts as you on it, with Chime making some amazing color bass, while the rest is pretty mid tbh. Result: C Future Bass: So many of my favorite EDM songs are future bass, including 2 of my top 3 from NCS (Infinite & Elysium (Lostboy)), and it's my favorite genre just due to how phenomenally catchy it is at it's best. If I could only listen to one genre for the rest of my life, it would be this. Result: S+ Breaks: I agree, this genre is pretty hard to classify, and I essentially agree with everything you said in this video. Result: D Bass House: Similar to deep house, there are like 2-3 good songs in this genre, but considering how many songs I've heard from this category, I just don't like it overall. Result: D Chillstep: I don't find any emotion in this genre, and basically every song I've heard from this genre is slow & boring asf. I always forget it's exists too lmao. Result: F Melodic Dubstep: I don't glaze this genre like most other people, but it's still above average when it comes to genres. It's generally too slow for my taste though. Result: B More genres that you didn't include: Hands Up: Basically every song that includes a hand up section immediately gets a big score boost cause of how catchy the genre is (ie. Razor, Luna Remix, etc.). Top tier genre imo. Result: S Halftime: Haven't heard much of it, but basically all thanks to New Style (Droptek), I love this genre. Result: S Tech House: Every song I've heard from this genre I've hated. Result: Z Great video!
If anyone is new to the edm world, I will define some genres. House: Is around 128 BPM. Has four on the floor kicks (Four kicks in every measure) In most house subgenres, there is a clap in the second and fourth kick and has offbeat hihats between the kicks. Techno: House but darker and does not have a clap on the 2nd and 4th kick Trance: More melodic version of techno. Drum and Bass: Is 170-180 BPM. The drum patterns are similiar to hip hop, but faster. Basslines are also focused a lot in this genre. Breaks: DnB but at House Tempo. Trap: Is 75-175 BPM. Hip hop but more EDM like. Future Bass: Trap but happier. Uses supersaw Chords. Basically the type of music Marshmello produces. Dubstep: Is 140-150 BPM. Has halftime drum patterns and heavy basslines (Melodic dubstep is an exception). Drumstep: Dubstep but DnB tempo. drumstep is dubstep sped up to170-190 bpm(DnB's tempo) breaks is easy if it is house but with dnb drums its breaks (unless it's garage which is breaks but nice and calm)

For Progressive / Melodic House you can check out Tobu (I’m assuming you already know him), but if you do maybe have a look at YDoop, they don’t have many songs but they are heavily melodic inspired. That’s all I can think of, sorry if you know any of them :/

It's no surprise that my favorite genre is melodic dubstep. I'd place Dnb in 2nd place and future bass in 3rd.

My thoughts on each of these genres (I'm going to split up Future House & Future Bounce since I have completely different thoughts on the 2 genres, and I will add a few that I think may have been missed):
Tropical House: There has only really been one or two tropical house songs that I really like, and the rest are mid.
Result: D
Happy Hardcore: A genre that while does fit my fast paced taste, just doesn't quite click with me. Still better than tropic house though. Result: C
Brostep: Can sometimes be a little slow, but I tend to like heavier stuff, so this genre is still quite appealing to me.
Result: B
Big Room: I can't think of any big room songs that i've heard that I actually really like, not terrible though.
Result: D
Jersey Club: It's like a Walmart future bass. I like the fast paced nature of it, and can be quite catchy like with Runaway TARI Remix, but in general worse than a genre like brostep.

New Beat: Other than some of the super repetitive Max Brhon songs like Humanity and The Future, I really like this genre. Prolly top 5-6 genre I've heard overall.

Deep House: This genre is very hit or miss for me. Songs like Migraine and Double D go hard, but some of the more recent deep house tracks are just slow and boring. Not the worst genre, but certainly not great overall.

Psytrance: Generally not a genre that I go out of my way to listen to, and another one that doesn't totally click with me, but still just isn't bad at all. Probably the top of it's tier.

Glitch Hop: It's very hard to find a genre that is as consistently awesome as glitch hop. Just so many nostalgic and pure banger songs that fall under this banner.

Hardstyle: There's 2 different sides to this genre. There's the great side (ElementD's stuff), and there's the bad side (Main Reaktors stuff), with very little in between. Bottom of it's tier.

Neurofunk: Just drum and bass but more gritty (which is good), but with a lot more misses in general since the BPM is typically lower (which I don't like as much). Still a amazing genre in general, barely missing out on top tier.

If anyone is new to the edm world, I will define some genres.
House: Is around 128 BPM. Has four on the floor kicks (Four kicks in every measure) In most house subgenres, there is a clap in the second and fourth kick and has offbeat hihats between the kicks.
Techno: House but darker and does not have a clap on the 2nd and 4th kick
Trance: More melodic version of techno.
Drum and Bass: Is 170-180 BPM. The drum patterns are similiar to hip hop, but faster. Basslines are also focused a lot in this genre.
Breaks: DnB but at House Tempo.
Trap: Is 75-175 BPM. Hip hop but more EDM like.
Future Bass: Trap but happier. Uses supersaw Chords. Basically the type of music Marshmello produces.
Dubstep: Is 140-150 BPM. Has halftime drum patterns and heavy basslines (Melodic dubstep is an exception).
Drumstep: Dubstep but DnB tempo.

A question: Why did you put a future house song for Deep House? I got really confused until I saw there is an actual separate tier for Future House.

Funny that I hate anything EDM after 1999/2000-ish.. but love the electronic styles of the 80's and 90's.... and I wasn't even 20 yrs old till 2002 lol...you would think I'd keep on liking the electronic music coming out in the 2000's but instead I went backwards and fell in love with oldschool house, freestyle, hi nrg, synth disco, etc...
Sometimes the classic & nostalgic stuff beats the newer stuff for sure

@@jonathananker9671 For a softer house style, I recommend Vexento. For Progressive / Melodic House you can check out Tobu (I’m assuming you already know him), but if you do maybe have a look at YDoop, they don’t have many songs but they are heavily melodic inspired. That’s all I can think of, sorry if you know any of them :/

Happy Hardcore - pretty much the same opinion as you but i enjoy it more (C)
Brostep - one of my least favorite dubstep subgenres. I prefer riddim and future riddim way more (F)
Big Room - used to love it back in 2012, not its really eh (D)
Jersey Club - its ok (C)
New Beat - the unique stuff i always amazing but theres a lot of generic same sounding stuff in this genre (C)
Deep House - i love this song but pretty much hate the rest of the genre (F)
Psytrance - great genre (A)
Glitch Hop - its usually pretty good, but some stuff gets kinda boring (B)
Hardstyle - hit or miss genre but there are lots of insane stuff in this genre (C)
