- This week I escaped from the chateau to the city! Join me on an adventure in New York, where I enjoyed everything the city had to offer, from jaw-droppingly beautiful interior design at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to geeky video games, with lots of delicious food, cocktails...and squirrels in between🍸🐿🍸
Then I headed to Vermont to enjoy spectacular winter scenery, log fires, skiing and picnics in the snow. ❄️🥂❄️
I've returned to the Chateau de Lalande filled with inspiration from my travels, and bursting to start new projects here 💖🏰💖
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️ - Jak na to + styl
You really know how to live and enjoy life. From the smallest to the biggest experience.
Oh Stephanie, where were you when I was sitting through hours of tedious lectures, from professors who had no idea how to bring history to life!?!?! You make history sing😘
Amazing visit, Mason knows how to treat a lady🥰🙋🏼
he is very sweet and amusing , surprising he is not snagged long ago to me
That was wonderful Stephanie!!! Thank you for such magic tour !!!
How interesting the perspective you put on your time to New York! It's YOUR talent, Stephanie, on how you view the world and help us to see it through your eyes that creates the magic. Most of us would have zoomed blindly by what you chose to focus on. I think it came from your imagination as a child playing alone in your parents' nursing home. Thank you for raking the time wherever you travel to gather and convey facts to us. My family cannot believe how consumed with your channel I've become. I've never watched a you tube video in my life. I'm 65.
i love how you teach us the history of everything and the fab foods , and your lovely voice!
sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can give me
Steph in ⛷️ skis is so cute ❤
Oh! Steph! I'm glad you made to go see Metropolitan Museum of Art! This is our favorite museum in New York being New Yorkers, and The Cloisters, at the Northern tip of Manhattan. We are now retirees and moved to Arizona. Will surely miss this one. You surely know how to embrace arts and cultures. You are amazing in putting snippets of history on stuff you visit and view.
You are always so happy. Even after a really long plane ride.
You get chateau life, you get DIY, you get interior design, you get travel, you get family time vlog, you get food, AND you get history. What a treat.
I absolutely adore you Stephanie! You come to America to educate us about us. wow! I learned so much. you're adorable. thank you! I hope you had fun... looks like you had a magnificent time. Thanks for bringing us along
When I was in New York, my taxi driver said you can always remember the names of the bridges if you think of the letters BMW.
Oh, I do love Thursdays and Sundays!!
Seeing the world through your eyes is not only entertaining but educational! I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you, Stephanie! P.S. I am still dropping hints about coming to stay at Lalande for my 70th birthday in September. Fingers crossed!
Cathy Norrie ohhhh I hope you get to go for your special birthday 🎉😘
It's stunning I came home from work stressed and when I watched this blog I relaxed into another world I love your lifestyle
Discover you through my recommend page and I have binage watched all your vlogs! I absolutely adore how you incorporate history into your vlogs. I still can’t believe that Egyptian temple, so incredible. Thank you for sharing
I have come to the conclusion that you & all your friends are superhuman, you are all beyond us mere mortals. You are all so talented, have amazing homes, cook the most wonderful food & it wouldn't surprise me if you all had super powers to lol. I love everything about your vlogs & I feel privileged to have contributed just a tiny bit towards the renovation of your Chapel by watching the adverts. Xxxxx❤️😍🇬🇧
Why watch a history show when we have Stephanie!!! So interesting & beautiful place!❤️🇨🇦
Love your mish mash: of snippets of the chateau life, food, art, fashion, flea markets ,animals,Antiques, travel and your family; and last, but not least ,your enthusiasm for it all.
Everything I love in a channel,I’m addicted.
Thanks Stephanie..
Bonjour, Stephanie!!! I forgot you were going to New York after LaLande won the B&B competition! What fun! Hello to Mason and his beautiful Vermont Sangha! The bat in you is adorable! Or maybe it's the Vampire...dirty martinis are Yummißh indeed! Hello to your family and friends at LaLande! À bientot!
🙏🏻🦔💗🕯️🏰🕯️💗🦔🙏🏻
‘I’m going to start baking everything with cardamom...in bunny shapes!’ Hahahaha brilliant ❤️
Mason and Stephanie are like yin and yang. complete opposite but surprisingly well matched 😂😂😂
My favourite part was your singing on skis, there is still no musical on skis! And I was waiting for 'Moonlight in Vermont', grin. Greetings from Berlin
I enjoyed the video, thank you!!
I had no idea you were a gamer! Loved your trip to the Met.
I used to be a hard core World of Warcraft player 😂
The Chateau Diaries NO. WAY.🤣 Never would I ever have guessed! You’re full of surprises😊💕
Stepahnie, I'm so in love of your vlog, you teach us so much and you bring so much joy in your videos
I inspire me to live like everything I encounter can be such a joy
It’s crazy to think how you were like in my backyard so recently (in NY), and I didn’t know you even existed at that point. 😂 Thank you for all of your vlogs! They are one of the better parts of 2020.
I love how you tell us the history behind things. Keep it up girlfriend! 🥰
Welcome to the states!
"Nice things make their way to your house" and the wink at you... LOL I see what's up.
What fun! Loved your enthusiasm over the squirrels. I have one living in my yard. Would you like him? If ever you are back in NY, go to the Morgan and the Frick. Both are small museums but both are spectacular. The Morgan has a library the stuff that dreams are made of. The Frick has one of the most beautiful collections of art (3 Vermeers...) and decorative art.
I have missed seeing Mason. I like you two together.
Your history lesson was so wonderful it makes me want to visit New York! Also, I agree about cardamom....way under utilized in baking...yummy!
I love how you share history in your vlogs.
I love to hear the history of the places you go .hope you had a great time
Another amazing history lesson studded by epicurean treasures! Thank you!
Stephanie you are a genius!! Thank you for teaching us sooooo much through your videos and in such exciting ways! Your amazing!! ❤️
Thank you Stephanie for sharing the sights & experiences of your trip! I relish each of your vlogs (Percy♥️).
Thank you ❤️
me too! It's utter pleasure and joy X thanks Stephanie
A bun tin to go with the bunting eh! When you grease the tin stipple it, ie. prod it with the end of your grease brush ...gives a better release. 🥳😊
Thanks, I can’t wait to try it!
Your videos are so aesthetically pleasing and informative
Was that the vodka singing???LOL! Pretty voice. Thanks for showing me some of my countries treasures I haven't seen! Love the bunnies! You made the right call there!
Very interesting, I have never been to New York City......I saw the skyline while crossing the Hudson River and as of last year I have been to Vermont and I loved it‼️ You always go to great places and explain their history so well. Glad you had a nice time❣️
Absolutely fabulous! Thank you💕
So nice to have you on our side of the pond!🐓🦚
The pig on the leash!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
After I found out that if you watch all of an add; rather than skip it. I now watch all of the adds so that Stephanie from Lelonde can gain revenue for projects for her chateau in France.
I did not know that. Thanks
Me too, even though it sometimes kills me as I am anxious to get back to the blog
Wow! Loved your New York, Vermont segment! Keep them coming!
Thank you Stephanie for sharing, the food look great x
Loved all the squirrels! There are tons of squirrels here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Quite a variety! Loved the croissant and wine pairing! Vermont! Cross country skiing - you did well! Loved the picnic! Looked delicious!
I love you and your chateaux diaries!
That dressing room is to die for!!!!
You do it so well Mason! Great visit!
You know the coolest people! Fun trip! Love the bunny molds!
This looks fantastic ❤️ I love your vlogs.
Great photos of the city. You were staying just a few blocks from me. The Met is my favorite place here. Jackie Kennedy saved Grand Central from demolition in the 70s. Can you imagine they wanted to tear it down? Where did you do the dinner and show?
Thank you for the tour of the historic rooms. Who knew they would be so pretty?
Your knowledge and random explanations of historical facts never cease to amaze me. What a great visit!
I enjoy the adventures you take us on in different parts of the world.
Hahaha, "I'm sorry, what?" Too funny. I loved his earnest attempt to remain with you and your garlic croissants wine mission. Glad you had fun.
We look forward to Thursdays and Sundays. Entertaining and educational. Its lovely to see nice people enjoying life to the full.
Much thanks for taking us along on your Met visit. Enjoyed your commentary
William Sonoma duck plates...on my list! You bought the bunny cake tin! Oh, I really wanted that!
I always enjoy it when you give a bit of history or an explanation on what you are seeing. Did you notice the years of graffiti on the temple walls. Hard to imagine but sadly
people have been doing it for millennia. The Met is one of my favourite museums as well. I think I'd rather listen to you singing in the woods than purchase tickets to Radio City.
Thanks for including us in your travels.
Darryl
You be done it again! Top notch vacation, you make it fun, and you sing beautifully...thanks again for another vicarity!
Great video!! Love the historical aspects and the food and drinks. Fantastic fusion of the finer things in life!!
I love cardamom in baking! The best of NY and Vermont! King Arthur and all perfect trip!
Looks like you had lots of fun, looking forward to seeing bunny shaped cakes, thanks for sharing from 🇦🇺
"History attracts the best people." I heard that once and loved it! I started a local history page for my Northern NY town a few years ago 😄. It's feels like a calling. I think you are ones of those people Stephanie!
Welcome to America Stephanie! Thanks for showing us The Met. And Vermont was beautiful! Hope you have a great time here!!!
You my girl are living the life!
Vermont! My home state! So glad you got to visit :)
I love watching your joy with everything, I'm addicted! ❤🦋
This was so informative!! I’ve lived in NYC for 10 years and have learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing!!
Oh yes, I love a good snow picnic :) I used to live in Dartmouth, New Hampshire and spent quite a bit of time in Montpelier, Vt. Beautiful countryside - particularly in the snow. What a fabulous getaway - city and rural life in the same week and you were certainly not short of gastronomic delights in both places. I can't quite get my head around a garlic croissant but the bread looked AMAZING!
I've been enjoying your blogs, and travel a lot, and was in France last year.. I'm from NY, so I love that you love my city. One day, I'd love to visit the Chateau, after the quarantine. Thanks for sharing your home.
Love your bunny cake mould! I’m intrigued as to how you manage it in your hand luggage? 😂🤔. Thanks for another great vlog x
I love Vermont many happy memories.
You have a beautiful voice ! I just found your You Tube channel this week. I love it!!! I live in Vermont.Glad you had a fun time here!!! Love from Vermont
LOL @ Mason's ponytail!!!! He looks groooovy lol
Thanks Stephanie! This was a great trip...Mason is a top guide...a treat to know...
Enjoyed Thanks for sharing Lunch is also nice at the flour company in Vermont
Well, a nice surprise. I live in Montpelier. I am glad you enjoyed Vermont.
Hearing you say squirrel is so cute :)
Awww I love The Met. I spent all day in there the last time I was in New York. Chanel Dior and Manus xMachina had an exhibition on when I was there it was amazing. ❤️
That sounds so beautiful! I could spend days on end in there
Glorious glorious mini documentary.... merci 😘😘
I'm also grateful that you were able to film in the Met
Looks like you hit some good weather for your trip to NYC. Right now it’s just gray and rainy. Left my best umbrella from the old Plaza Hotel in my daughter’s stroller and it’s the only one that has survived the windy rain here. My daughter also has a house in Stratton VT. I want to get her a peacock/peahens but I’m not sure they can handle Vermont cold. Our apartment bldgs in the city don’t allow moving pheasants. Enjoy your vlog. You’ve inspired me to walk over to the MET before the crowds start again in March. Thanks for posting. Another little museum you might like is at FIT.
3:13 "I'm sorry, a what?" haha
I think it's also because we pronounce "croissant" a bit differently in the American accent. ;) "Kra-SAHNT" 😄
Cardamom buns are on our list to try since we saw a CZcams video of them being made. I have never been to NYC though i grew up just a few hours away. My wish list grows long.
I adore cardamom. If I ever get a chance to have a perfume created just for me it will have to have cardamom in it. Also delish baked in fresh bread.
If you ever visit San Marino, California make sure to visit "The Huntington". Arabella & Henry E. Huntington built a wonderful 52,000 sq ft mansion situated on 207 acres that they gifted to the state of California upon their deaths. It's now a Museum of Art, Botanical Gardens, authentic Japanese Gardens and Library with many rare and 1st edition books including the Gutenberg Bible that Henry purchased in 1911 for a record $50,000.00. The Museum has Thomas Gainsborough's "Blueboy" and Thomas Lawrence's "Pinkie". As Stephanie mentions in her vlog, Arabella was an avid collector of very fine art, sculptures and jewelry. The mansion is filled with her lifetime acquisitions. It’s breathtaking to see so many precious beautiful items all in one place. Plan on spending at least one day inside the Museum and one day in the gardens. The estate is so large and so beautiful that people travel from all over the world to see its spectacular gardens alone.
Love your adventures! Hope to come stay at your chateau one day!
That would be great!
I'm crying, you really are living the best life
Great vlog as usual! Interesting history of NY but lots of laughs with Mason too but think he needs his space! Thinking NY not his cup of tea really. Guessing he is is quite a reclusive character given where he lives and would find any sort of public intrusion not to his taste. I like and appreciate his style though and it clearly suits him. What a fabulous holiday break!
You’re the best!
Loved it all. 🥐🍎🐿🍸🎮❄🎿 Mason's place looks great. Glad you had loads of fun. Thankx for tagging us along Stephanie 💋💛 Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
Love this channel 💙
Thanks, Sarah! 💖
Your friend (Mason?) is so obsessed with spirits.... amazing!!!
Of all the delightful parts of this video, I think my favorite theme was Stephanie's repeated attempts to get Mason to name the food he made, and his staunch refusal. I think I never truly understand how nebulous American cooking is until I see how codified the food is elsewhere.
The word ‘Breakfast’ still cracks me up 😂
Yes, same here! In fact, I knew the minute she asked him "What is this called?" he was going to say "breakfast", because that's what I would have said. It's so much less culturally engrained for us to make things that have names. It's just "stuff that goes together well for X meal". 😄
It made me think of the diner scene in My Cousin Vinny ;) : czcams.com/video/pWC0sKCS5oA/video.html
Oh gosh, I love seeing you in my neck of the woods, exclaiming over things that are so normal to me (like the squirrels!). Worlds colliding. ❤️I didn't know there was another adult who wasn't good at bike-riding; I didn't learn until I was 31 and I'm still terrible!
Grand Central is one of my favorite buildings in the world. I'm a little sad for you that you didn't make it to Demolition Depot & Irreplaceable Artifacts in the city, although it seems like you only had a couple days there so it's understandable. It's a HUGE antiques showroom. It has giant pieces, like entire spiral staircases and entire rooms removed from estates. It rents out pieces for movie sets! The reason I know about it is that it has exactly one other store location besides the NYC one: my home, Middletown, CT! 😊😊
OH MY GOD I have shiitake mushrooms in my fridge right now, waiting for a recipe. I need to make this "dinner soup".
You are darling. My aunt loves picnics and says homemade cookies and wine are a must for a picnic
I just noticed you were in Norwich. I live a few miles south in Windsor. We're the Birthplace of Vermont and home to the longest double span covered bridge in the world !!!! Love from Vermont
