- With 3 BAFTA Awards on her mantlepiece, Cate Blanchett is always kind enough to stop by for a chat with our academicians. Here, Cate discusses her entire career from her early stage career in Australia, through her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I, up until her recent turn in Todd Haynes' Carol, opposite Rooney Mara.
It is always such a joy to watch this woman talk.

Not only is the interviewer brilliant posing thought provoking questions, Blanchett shows her intelligence and her love for the work of acting with her brilliant answers.I could listen to her talk about acting, the theater, and the process of producing works of art and entertainment.
such a CLASSY LADY.... no gossips just substance about art and a lot of respect for the people she collaborate with.... A TRUE QUEEN in a vulgrar world

Her range and filmography is just extraordinary. Even in smaller parts like in 'Talented Mr.Ripley', and 'Babel' she stood out. Also, such a smart and intelligent person. All the adjectives in the comments section are so true. A real gem. What luck it would be to meet her for a few moments!
The way she makes you feel about her characters is so peculiar. She would make you hate her for playing a villain. Suddenly, you would adore her when she play someone who is simple and absolutely divine.

I am always fascinated by her way of answering the interviewer's questions! I wouldn't be able to answer in such a sophisticated way and i barely understand the questions lol (btw english isn't my native language :) ) so plz don't judge me
Your English is pretty ok to get the sophistication of the replies. You need extra fluency and facility to react in real time to questions loaded with subtext / innuendo. Cate is very very good at it.

I have serious doubts about this long, long, long marriage... It seems she became the man and he the woman in this relationship 🤔 ... She's free to do what she wants to do ...If he's clever, he has to accept her way of dealing with some questions, friends, lovers ... So, he keeps her besides him 😉
I could listen to her all day. She's so bright and deep thinking and cast so much light on her artistic process. I just love it. She is so classy and is one of my favorite actresses of all time. If you haven't had a chance to see Elizabeth, I highly recommend it. In my opinion it should have swept the Oscars that year, but unfortunately it just won. Best makeup. But that's just how the academy votes. It's a terrific, engaging, wonderful film. It is truly one of my two favorite films of all time.
I could watch this over and over again. The interview was done so good and Cate was amazing and she still is.

Ahh! I love Cate so much!! Carol is by far the best movie of 2015; Cate also gave the best performance of the year (the only other that was maybe equivalent was her co-star Rooney Mara's - also a phenomenal actress) but she won't win, because Brie Larson is the favorite, and Cate won just two years ago for Blue Jasmine (SO GOOD!!)
