  • I’ve been asked 100’s of times to put a Sprint Booster and Pedal Commander side by side to show the customers the difference . Luckily for me a disgruntled customer wanted to upgrade to a Sprint Booster so I made him a deal😊.
    After seeing this thing in person I was amazed anybody would buy this over a Sprint Booster. Since I have had some years under my belt with Sprint Booster I figured I would throw something together to show everybody what I know.
    Facts are facts. My opinion is based on what I know to be true. Don’t fall for the gimmicky Facebook ads or CZcams videos that are clearly produced , the choice is yours 👍🏼
    Throttle Controllers. You can buy the best or you can settle for a second rate product. Sprint Booster received the Sema award for BEST new product. Pedal Commander received an award for their packaging, not what is inside. Think about that .

    Been over a year since I bought this product and I must say once again, best throttle booster product ever! My hemi Ram truck feels soooo much more responsive. I have it on race #9 all the time. The beautiful thing about the Sprint Booster is the fact that I can set it at that level and unplug the remote and it stays at that level until I decide to change it! I love this fact. You won't get that kind of control with those other knock off brands. Anybody on the fence about this product I say get it. Awesome product.😎👍

    I bought what must have been the Version 1 of Sprint Booster back in 2008 for my lethargic 2008 Jeep Wrangler Limited. Right from the dealership, that unit was a dog! Slow as all get up, and really not much fun to drive. I was on the Jeep Forum and followed a thread for this SB thing...so I bought it, and installed it in about 15 minutes...I remember the original unit was difficult to get to....anyways.....WOW...what a difference it made. There was no choices on the one I had, it was a module that just plugged in. I ended up keeping that SB on for several years. Over the years, I forgot about it and when I traded the Jeep in, the guy came back and wanted to know if I had tuned the engine because it was the fastest Limited he had ever driven. Then I remembered SB was still in there. No complaints, and highly recommended. Fast forward to today. I think I am going to get the latest SB for my 2018 Ford F150 3.0L PowerStroke Diesel. It could do with a bit of a waking up.....looking forward to getting in installed on that!

    Would you ever be willing to plug a pedal commander into the throttle body display to show how it works in comparison. I can tell your bias is toward sprint booster however I’m a customer on the fence and would like to see how they stack up to one another on the same exact demo product. I personally like the sprint booster more since it’s 1:1 but I want to see if the pedal commander is also 1:1 or does it vary. Also can you show the 1:1 of the sprint booster is accurate by pushing the display slower in race mode to see if it’s 100% 1:1 thank you.

      I have owned pedal commander on 3 different vehicles, it is awesome. it may be bigger than sprint booster but looks more professional in my opinion. The eco mode to all that are curious serves very well on powerful vehicles in poor weather conditions as it makes your pedal about 50% less sensitive than stock. (more traction, less spin) it is also great for off road use. it also has a ton of settings on it to fine tune what works for you. I prefer city +2 for daily driving. I am presently using it on a 2019 golf r. I have used it on a mustang gt in the past and a Subaru outback 3.6r. zero complaints. Made the mustang feel like a true muscle car. That to say that I am not putting down sprint booster in anyway. Could be a fantastic product. Just stating facts as I know them to be true. Pedal commander all the way for me.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Although it wasn't s side by side comparison, it motivated me to buy the V3 for my 2009 BMW 650i. I reviewed the prices of all the other options and they were similarly priced to the Sprint Booster......with the exception on the Ebay Chinese knock off's, My car has a beautiful interior and I personally didn't want a controller anywhere visible that took away from the class of my interior. The install was amazingly simple and it took only a few minutes to install the remote through my center console into my ashtray. The remote is TINY and has enough slack in the cable for me to effortlessly adjust the settings. My car has 360 HP stock and I have always liked to drive it in sport mode to feel the performance. After taking a test drive with the Sport mode on the Sprint tuner set at 5, all I can say is WOW! Once done with the test, I additionally turned on the sport mode of my 650i......I don't think I will ever drive without both on! NO regrets! It was only $266 plus tax....I've always said: "Good tattoo's aren't cheap and cheap tattoo's aren't good". It's worth the investment.

    • @masterchief370
      @masterchief370  Před 4 lety

      Cedric Miller ,Sprint Booster in Manual Mode on an Auto car can react differently depending on the vehicle manufacture. Manual program will have a more aggressive tip in value (among other things) compared to the automatics program. You can use manual program in an automatic car BUT you should pay more attention to a possible change in shifting . You also want to make sure the trans doesn’t do a “double/downshift “.Example : If I pass someone and accelerate more aggressively , the vehicle normal shifts down one gear. If you were to simulate this and the transmission downshifts twice I would recommend backing off the program or putting back into Auto Mode. Knowing this , I have found most automatic cars and trucks can be ok in Manual Mode. I almost always use manual mode is diesel trucks regardless of transmission type. This is specifically because the don’t have a throttle body. Sprint Booster almost acts like a programmer in deisel vehicles . That’s another conversation in itself .. lol Try it. Just pay attention 👍🏼😁

I drive a 2004 Mercedes cl55 amg with a few mods. Does it work? Yes it does. It makes the car feel more responsive, but recently I took it out . Reason why was because I noticed that if I floor it and my supercharger comes on the car would jerk at around 4K rpm. Don’t remember the car doing this before so I’m guessing it might be the SB but I’m not sure. It still does it now but not so much. Might install SB again and do some test runs.

      HI Peter, I've been out of town. Sorry for the delay. I did find this out. BMS product is actual a Pedal Box. Pedal Box was a customer of Sprint Booster and then decided to try and knock it off. Poorly at that. The utilize a controller that about the size of your palm and that is permanently attached to a cord that hooks into the pedal assembly. Everything about this product is ugly and not something you would want mounted on your dash. It has a bracket kit that holds the controller that does not easily mount anywhere without drilling holes to support the product. It has 20 settings using a LED graph for level indicator? None of the programming is transmission specific. Their desperate attempts to sound " Original" is lame at best. QUOTE: " PedalBox+: The original from DTE Systems" The keyword here is FROM DTE systems. Yes , they are the original company to infringe on Sprint Booster's international Patents. Congrats, you're getting a bad knockoff that has less then half the functionality of a Sprint Booster. Their product might not be bad per what they have to offer, I just don't promote companies that steal . I know, I know, I get a lot of harassment for sticking up for Sprint Booster. But I know their history because they've helped me with projects from over 10 years ago.
      If your friend invented a flying car that was using a specific device to accomplish this feat . wouldn't you stand up for them if other companies were using their technology, but in an inferior way? Buy a knockoff BMW from China ( allll over the place) and tell me how it's the same quality. You can't. You can try and reason how it's good enough, but it will never be the same quality .

    I was researching between the sprint booster, the pedal commander, and the pedal monster. I like the sprint booster over the pedal commander. • @masterchief370
      @masterchief370  Před rokem +1

      Pedal monster is an interesting unit to say the least. The fact that they have to lock out reverse when using their product speaks volumes. Never in the history of a owning a vehicle has any throttle cable been disabled when going into reverse. Why? Because you have a one to one ratio. The fact is is that paddle monster gives you more throttle than the percentage that your pedal is being depressed. So when you depress your gas pedal 10%, your throttle blade is opening 20%. It is exactly why, you have to disable reverse because it would be unmanageable. And using the OBD two port is only for power. That just makes it another issue when trying to access your ECUs information. Fact is Sprint Booster is plug-and-play and requires no additional wiring plugs for programming. And you can remove the controller once you set your desired level.
      Pedal monster is giving you less throttle control by taking away your 0 to 100% throttle travel. They do this, so it seems like you’re getting more bang out of the product. But in actuality they’re taking out the drive ability. This is just another gimmick in attempt to sell something that is inferior to the original design and inception of throttle control a.k.a. SprintBooster.

    • @scottsmith7348
      @scottsmith7348 Před rokem

      @@masterchief370 According to Banks Pedal Monster, the reason they went with using the OB2 is because other units tap off of the power on the pedal connector and could cause potential problems. I don't care about having to remove pedal monster to read ECU info. It is not really any different than removing sprint booster if you have to go to the dealership. Also upon failure of sprint booster, you will go into "limp mode" where pedal monster will not. Believe me, I am not knocking Sprint Booster. I think it is a good product. I would have bought it if I didn't come across pedal monster.

      Torque steer should be much of an issue depending on your car. 150hp is not producing a crazy amount of torque in most applications . You should be fine .

      are lacking a feature for a dial input say for 3 modes, snow/eco, city, sport. Then I could program my throttle for what ever driving style
      suits my need in that time and place/surface and to say that a car comes in eco mode original is just............................ NOT CORRECT it is a compromise.

This has been proven and there has been many complaints on how dangerous it feels. Sprint Booster came out with this technology to fix the delay, not slow it down. It kinda defeats the purpose 🤷🏼‍♂️. Oddly enough using Sprint Booster in any mode tends to give the user better gas mileage . As long as you don’t have a lead foot of course lol. This has been talked about before for years. They just don’t market the technology in that nature.

      Eric x yes! I know many Tacoma owners that love Sprint Booster because it elongates the shift profile.

      No, the main unit stays plugged in between the OEM pedal sensor and the wiring harness plug. I guess you could use 1 head unit between two main units, but I don't think you can buy the head unit alone.

    I've got the Gen 2 version on my 2005 MINI Cooper and my 2015 Jeep Rubicon. Amazing difference. Makes both vehicles feel much more lively. Wondering if it's worth it to upgrade from the Gen 2 to the new Gen 3? I've heard that the red "Race" setting on the Gen 2 is equivalent to "Race" level ~5 on the Gen 3. Can anyone verify? If the Gen 3 is even more lively feeling, I think I'll go for it. Thanks!

    i will probably get the Sprint booster based off all the reviews for my car (c63 amg) but to be fair you didnt plug in the pedal booster to compare its responsiveness. Lets be fair, everyone that is getting one of these devices is only getting better throttle response (ie when you push the gas pedal the throttle should respond immediate mimicking how far you push the pedal), and thats it. Pedal Commander is probably fine, but i love how i can unhook and hide the Sprint Booster, thats your selling point right there that cannot be refuted.

    • @masterchief370
      @masterchief370  Před 6 měsíci +1

      The fact is, the factory response is already delayed. So slowing it down doesn’t make a lot of sense. I will say this using a sprint booster in green level and driving modestly will already save you gas mileage. When you don’t have to depress your gas more than you actually need to, you willLove save gas. Right now you push the gas 50% just to go 30% therefore wasting more gas in each cylinder. All that gas just goes out the tailpipe.

      The bank guys arguments that his Superior because if there is a malfunction that their gas pedal will not shut off.
      But in your demonstration you indicated that is not true.!
      The other argument is that you need to connect to the OBD to get the right amount of voltage. Otherwise if you plug anywhere else you're not getting the right amount.
      What do you think of this?

    • @masterchief370
      @masterchief370  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Ryan-yi6su first of all if there’s a malfunction, the ECU is going to see it and automatically put it in fail safe. Fail safe is going to stop you from driving the vehicle in most cases. Or it’s gonna reduce the power of making the car mostly in operable. So the fact that they’re pulling power from an OD to port to try to say that you won’t lose power is ridiculous. Again if there’s any disconnect, the ECU will see it and throw check engine light right away. pulling from an OD to port is not needed. Are they suggesting that the OBD to port has more power than the pedal? Because it’s the same amount of power being distributed throughout the vehicle. It’s just another fail point. And the fact that they have to stop, the function of their device when being put in reverse is a huge red flag. The fact is nobody in the history of vehicles had to do this even with a cable vehicle. So why does their device have to do this?

      With this kind of mod, there are no limitations on fuel type or the air induction. Older cars (typically 2005 and older) use a throttle cable which is fully mechanical non electric. Newer cars have the electric throttle control which has lag because when you step on the gas, your pedal sends a signal to the ecu, then the ecu sends a signal back to your throttle control telling it to open. This is why you get lag in newer cars. Sprint boost, pedal commander, etc.. they will all be compatible with your 2018 Cummins turbodiesel. It would actually reduce the spool time on your truck and reduce your 0-60 times significantly. If I had your truck, I’d definitely buy one

    • @masterchief370
      @masterchief370  Před 5 lety

      Teddy Thibodeaux , factory settings are silly to me. It’s like having a motor that wants to give you 100% but you can only get 100% when activating them( depending on which ones) Its almost like the factory dumbs down the truck when all the settings are off. And then gives you more access to it when you select one.
      Sprint Booster does what the factory does not.
      You can gain alll the HP you want with tunes or settings but you still don’t have access to it as you should . With it installed you will get a 1:1 ratio between your foot and throttle blade. (On diesels it acts differently , almost like a programmer ) . This 1:1 connection is what all DBW vehicles are missing . This is why it seems like you always have a mushy pedal. Once it’s fixed , it’s like a whole new truck . Sprint Boosters transmission programs also protects your tranny from unnecessary wear. I know many dealerships that pre Instal them just to give them an edge over the competition .
      As far as modes go, you’ll have to decide for yourself . It’s like volume for your radio. Some like it loud , some like it quieter. It’s a personal preference 😊

      Teddy Thibodeaux Nobody can tell you what you will like. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It’s easy enough to change setting . Once you find a setting you prefer you can also remove the controller . No need to hide anything or mount anything on the dash unless you want to :)
