Beat everyone at lightweight? No way dude. The biggest names on Tony’s record are an aging Cowboy and RDA, who Khabib also beat. He hasn’t fought Gaethje, Poirier, or Conor. Poirier’s record prior to his fight with Khabib was much more impressive than Tony’s current record. The streak itself is impressive, but when you look at the fighters he beat, it’s pretty clear that it’s pretty light in terms of talent.

juan guzman I do know who the older fighters are. Look at Tony’s record and tell me which of the people he’s beaten are world class. Isn’t it a bit odd that Tony doesn’t hold a win over anybody currently in the Lightweight top 5 rankings? Kevin Lee, Pettis, Cerrone, RDA, and Barboza are the biggest names on Tony’s record. Kevin Lee lost to Iaquinta twice, and has shown that he has serious issues with cardio. Pettis lost several times in the past few years, and is clearly not the fighter he used to be. That applies to Cerrone as well. RDA and Barboza are great wins but Khabib beat both of them, and Gaethje looked way more impressive against Barboza. His record is padded with aging fighters and no-names.

He would now have to train for a different opponent and he would like to know the location and be able to prepare for him accordingly.
Jared Volle Knowing where a fight is and knowing who you are “training for” have nothing to do with each other. He could immediately switch his training plan at his current location to accommodate for the different fighter. Training is not the issue for Khabib, it’s simply not having a fight location that you have the ability to say yes to. Plus Dana just released a statement saying that all international fighters are canceled until they strike a deal to hold fights on some island.

Weili Zhang traveled 3 different countries just to fight Joanna. If Khabib was really down to fight Tony he would've stayed in the states training until further notice
Danielle Hampleton the situation with Covid was different when Weili was fighting than it is now. Weili only moved countries to train in different countries and afterwards could go home. Now, they don’t even have a set location. UFC told Khabib that the fight was gonna be in Abu Dhabi so he goes to Abu Dhabi. Then, UAE announces they’ll be shutting their borders, so he goes to Russia. Then, Russia announces that they’re shutting borders. They don’t even have a US location at the moment and there’s not gonna be a crowd. If the fight were UFC 248 then it would be different cuz the situation was different all that time ago.
