You have one of the best shows out there very positive
There are a lot of common sense rules that go along with card collecting as we get older and more experienced. One of the biggest ones is to never buy an autographed baseball card that hasn't been authenticated. Sadly, many do and the majority of them are fake.
Great video my man looking forward to the next one
Great video. I just became your 900th subscriber. I got my 135th sub yesterday. Keep up the good work.
I also enjoy getting rc cards signed in person. Great video
I’ve noticed this myself and have a few although no super high end ones. It will be interesting to see how the trend continues.
I agree! Love to pickup autographed HOF rookie cards when I can!
Great content - keep it coming!
Great episode. One other aspect that accounts for the low pop on signed vintage was back in the day, all the way up thru the early 90s when I was a kid collector (mid80s on) it was absolutely taboo to get a vintage card signed. The old school mentality and view was that you destroyed the card value by doing that. I agree with you, I think signed vintage still has a lot of upside longterm.
I’m glad vintage autos are now starting to gain traction. Been a long time coming
Great content, I’m not much of an autograph seeker, but I have a few on card autos.
Growing up in the 80's and 90's, getting an auto on a valuable card was considered a sin and devalued the card. On card autos today are a normal part of the hobby so I think this trend is here to stay
For sure. Most of these legend players are not with us anymore so every time a card gets sold that's one less available in all likelihood. Very very rare stuff.
Most of my autos are cheaper ones of guys who didn't do much professionally, but mean something to me because I went to college with them or something like that. Love Monte by the way, he almost broke the color barrier instead of Jackie!
I believe this is one trend that will continue in the future because people like to know that athlete actually had their hands on that card. Personally I am too old school and I don’t like the auto on the original card.
It certainly looks that way, that auto's are now wanted on rookie cards. In saying that, I think the HOF's who have passed will certainly bring the big bucks.
Love those on card vintage autos!
I have always wanted a 1960 Mantle auto along with the Mays and Aaron, but I am trying to build that set autographed so I guess I can keep dreaming. I do have a lot of vintage autographs but most are not high-end cards so I am not thinking this will help me either way. I might pull some out and see if I can sell/trade them at my next show I go to.
I would be fine with a great vintage card of an outstanding athlete, raw or graded. One that has been autographed does make it a better card to me, but it should be authenticated / slabbed to be even more appreciated and worth the expenditure. Thanks for the Robin Yount. I’ll send you an email..
I sure hope so!
I always wonder if the autograph is real or fraudulent , we always must get a second and 3rd opinion because psa has been doing shady things especially with 1986 fleer basketball michael jordan rookie autograph at basketball camp.
Enjoyed the video.
On card autos!
I have fair amount of the 1983 Donruss Hall Of Fame Heroes set autographed. It's amazing how many of these old players were still around during that time (Carl Hubbell, Burleigh Grimes, Charlie Gehringer, etc). And these cards were painted by Dick Perez, so they look amazing even without the autos.
*Also, got the '54 Topps Duke! Thanks man! Straight to the PC along with the '54 Bowman Duke🤘
Yeah boy
Interesting theory. Personally, I'll take the higher graded card. I'm not big on autographs.
Also, Mantle's signature has been faked so many times. In fact, I'd bet more fake autos were authenticated than plain cards.
