I love what I’m calling “basic boy Namjoon”. He’s just some guy from Korea..filming a goofy ass video on a random street with his friend. The last couple videos he’s not been afraid to go practically bare faced, make goofy faces…be NORMAL.

Even though he was angry, the song makes the older ARMYs really happy, it brings us right back to the best of 80s/90s hip hop music/style. Had the same reaction when he started rapping/cussing. 🙂💜

Thank you for this reaction, Roscoe! Love this song, love this mv. Namjoon going "whatevs" with flashes of his wry humour. So interesting when you go all directorly. To me that last slap is him saying "you can just kiss my a**". Just gotta say, I'm so amazed at how the rapline, especially, manage to keep their cool in the face of downright insults and channel their anger into some of the most memorable songs ever. I mean; the Cypher series, most notably "Killer", Born Singer, Ugh, Mic Drop. And now, Groin. Brilliant!
I haven't watched your whole video here yet but I had to interject quickly and say that I don't think he's yawning. He's beat boxing with his hand over his mouth. He's doing that because he's trying to NOT draw attention to himself. You can see it all throughout the video. He's looking around without making it seem like he's looking around. They were probably trying to be secretive as well. You don't want people showing up with their phones...
When you see some those few people that are sprinkled throughout the video that walk by him like the first guy, RM doesn't start rapping until he passes by him and then with the other people (like the guy packing his bike going down the stairs) he stops and he's almost shy and at the same time being respectful enough to wait while others are passing by so as not to draw attention to himself. Again probably being secretive but respectful.
Look at the 1:21 point into the video, and see how he's his facing the camera and looking casual with his hands in his pockets and rapping but then you can clearly see how his eyes suddenly shift to the right (our left) because something has caught his attention off camera and then he looks back at the camera. Something distracted him. I think again, he's trying to film this without drawing too much attention to himself or their filming of this video.
Watch it again and notice how he's always aware of his surroundings...

There is a lot of BRIT street elements in this. So why is just watching RM move around the studio is so compelling in th MV to NUTS . Here in GROIN its equally simple just the mirror to fracture the street vibe and make it uncomfortable, funny, seeringly honestly RM. Just love them both. The whole abum genius. INDIGO and RPWP both blew me away. After Indigo we knew the next project would be different he doesnt like to repeat himself. The brakes came off .. fully of and we music nerds can just revel in it. Hi, Roscoe. Am late watching this - sorry about that. Love how you candidly and naturally shared with us how you feel about the video. Had a few chuckles there, too. Perhaps like a few others, I had to meander through Joon's songs on RPWP a bit more, and then they just start appearing in my head and I find myself humming it in my head as I am wandering along the cereal aisle at the supermarket, picking up a pack of Cheerios or something. Yupp. Things like that. So, yeah...I'll be honest and say that some songs had to grow on me a tad further. But then...isn't that perhaps one of the journeys Joonie wants his listeners to take whilst listening to his album? I think yes. Ha! I am away, by the way, but I will catch up. Take care, Roscoe!

Walking UP the stairs from the hip-hop underground, he left behind. Not yawning he's beginning to beat box, maybe???? There's an old video of the rap line beat boxing, where Suga is hilarious and explains how facial expressions were instrumental in selling your beat in their good old underground days.
Old school vibe, straight from the 90s, because that's where his true love of his craft began and now he's "lost" and that's where he felt he last knew himself!!!! To me, he's reminiscing about his lost self and how can he fit in his into his present self! He's desperately trying to to dig deep down to his "groin" and recapture that part of him, where his life was simpler and maybe he thinks he was happier. After all, didn't Suga, as Agust D, state in Snooze that fame becomes your shackles, that which holds you down! This is actually a bit sad!
