I believe the founders of our nation considered that including a method to leave a nation that had not yet been established to be premature. However, rather than craft a method for states to leave the Union as they wish, they left that issue to be resolved by succeding generations. Perhaps now is time for a more mature means of resolving the issue of federal overreach without bloodshed. To belong to a nation that does not value your contribution or opinion is nothing less than slavery and we settled that question many decades ago.
So, as a nation, we should craft an amendment to the Constitution which would allow a state or a portion of a state to realign with adjacent areas that more closely coincide with their population's values. If that would mean that a state would establish itself as an independent nation state, then so be it. Consideration would have to be given to the self-protection of the new estate and dissenters within it and the impact of that entity on the security of the remaining states of the USA.
Obviously, these negotiations will take years even decades. This would allow for a "cooling off" period of political ardor that may dampen over time, but still allow progress to be made if that is the will of the people.
Why must we take an all or nothing approach? Do we fear for ourselves if we become a smaller, less powerful entity? Let's reverse this; Do other nations today fear the USA as the dominant nation on the planet? Yes, they do. That is exactly why the United Nations concept has failed. The USA has consistently embarked up a policy of "what is good for the USA, is good for the world." I paraphrase the words of an esteemed American businessman of the last century. Perhaps listening to other people's opinions would be a better option. We would still have the option of acting upon our own self-interest, but we might find that negotiation would result in a more lasting resulting situation.

No governmental change has ever been made without bloodshed. History shows that it is a necessity

an issues I see is that any soldiers of the UNITED STATES military navy marines or air-force would be duty bound to the US not Texas. Any equipment and bases belonging to the US would need to be returned or bought by Texas. Texas would be left with no true military or equipment, (unless bought) and i could see lawlessness come into play and Gangs/mafias coming into power for a while until things got settled.

Texas already has more tanks than the feds. Our national guard a few years back was 35k members. We have our own air guard, anti aircraft units and naval air stations.

Exactly what will happen! There is no way! Texas will secede without breaking up the State in the process. And the Republican party too!
