  • Watch Mikael tie one of his favourite sunshine flies in the broad deadly swimming butterfly design. The technique has recently been improved by ambassador Peter Ohlsson. When the river turns blue Sillen is unbeatable, but it’s also great in crystal clear rivers. When fresh fish stop in shallow water on a clear day - this is our best weapon. To make the fly blend in is important especially on the clear day in clear water. The Butterfly version is a absolute superb swimmer with a translucency that beats everything - when you fish this little shiny fly you want the sun to shine from a clear blue sky and bright fish entering in god numbers.

Thank you Mikael for giving us another very interesting insight in your pattern fly tying. Usually I have no questions left, but this time I‘m wondering if the marabou feather tied-in the new way, is protected enough to hold longer than only a day fishing, because of that small and weak looking tying-in point and no further protection, only laying on top of the fly-Body, with no securement between tying-in and tying-off point?
    Tight-lines, Steve

Hi steve - i have had no flies brake actually. i use Ostrich mostly, marabou will probably be to week and also to soft. if to use a very week feather i would run a ribbing over it. Stay strong& tie on!/M

Thanks, Mikael! I was waiting for the new Spring pattern video, and very happy to see a favourite fly of yours in the mix. Very interesting take on the 'Classic Sillen'...hmmm.
Do you have any dark olive ostrich herl coming up? This pattern would be great for a 'butterfly' sculpin! Cheers again, Mikael. Glad Påsk!
