ASM Architecture and Its Components - DB Instance Vs ASM Instance - Whats special about ASM Instance
ASM base components:
ASM instance
storage devices (disks)
inter-instance communication service (css)
Database on ASM
What‘s special about ASM?
INSTANCE_TYPE = ASM
startup = startup mount
doesn‘t try to mount a database but tries to mount disk groups (ASM_DISKGROUP)
no open state for ASM (alter database open) because this is not a database instance
no user administration and connect as SYSDBA and SYSASM only

I want to know the difference between basic datafiles of oracle db and when it is converted to asm ,does it mean we have two storage areas for the same datafile ? If i create a table in oracle where will the table be ---in oracle db or asm

Good one malli, I have experienced following warning and have searched many places to find which is that default file that it is reading. can you please let me know the file name. ORA-00099: warning: no parameter file specified for ASM instance ----> ASM instance started
