Really no suprise there. During the middle east migrant crisis, Denmark welcomed anyone in. No vetting or screening. The countries sexual assault cases went up 300%. Denmark was willing to sacrifice the safety women in order to look generous to the outside world. Yall got a dystopian government.

My parents were planning on visiting China for the Great Wall and the Terracotta Army once Covid goes down. I had to tell them about the truth about the CCP. The human rights issues such as the mass imprisonment of the Uhuigyr Muslims, how they disappear people who speak against them. Destroyed the freedom of Hong Kong and broke their word to us, the UK over it. That they’d be funding that evil regime by visiting. I’m really glad they changed their plans after that. One of our newspapers here in Canada has a daily online poll, on various topical issues, for which they publish the results both online and in print the next day. The question yesterday was whether or not you believe Peng Shuai is now safe. When I answered it in the morning the result to that point was (if memory serves) 96% No and 4% Yes. When the final result was revealed today, the whole thing flipped to 6% No and 94% Yes! Isn't it strange how some things turn out (tongue firmly in my cheek). I wonder how many other similar occurrences there are?

It's a massive army of people who work for the government to earn their peanut salary and some rank in society. They don't have a choice. They do understand what they are doing, and they know how screwed it is. He was working on the 2010 winter Olympics and resigned from a company he had worked with for 2 decades. It all concerned the graft and corruption within the IOC. This is a very elite group that makes a fortune putting on the games. The kickbacks, the bribes, the gifts and so on never ends. The IOC also insists that all books be kept closed on the games preventing the public from even knowing what goes on or checking on the corruption. My relative called it a criminal organization on par with something like a drug cartel or the mafia. The amounts of money are so large that skimming millions wont even be noticed. But even beneath the IOC there is yet another international crime group. Each country gets tickets allocated to their local organizing committees. These tickets end up in the hands of scalpers. At the 2010 games in Vancouver we had all these guys with heavy European accents hawking juicy seats to keep events like gold medal hockey games. We as taxpayers paid for the games and the tickets and then we are forced to buy them back from foreign scalpers. What a racket.

A woman like Peng does not post that kind of accusation without it being true, or a mistake. She went public with full awareness of the ramifications to her own life. She is now relying on the rest of the world to realize that. If she was delusional and wrong to post that, then she wouldn't be smiling and allowed to do happy photo ops. She'd be a mess.

@@mrduuud Sorry for the confusion. I'm on Peng's side and believe her allegations. The few limited "happy" clips of her, are her back up plan. As well as the frantic damage control of the CCP. Suppression of trauma with the appearance of happiness is a survival trait and coping mechanism for women, repressed populations and save-face cultures. I lack that skill as a western male. If Peng had fabricated the allegations, she'd already have to be severely mentally unstable ("a mess"). Or the CCP would have erased her completely, which she's smart enough to know would raise far too much attention. A successful intelligent internationally popular athlete has neither the motive nor the gross mental instability to fabricating these allegations.

Thank you for this detailed breakdown of the Peng Shuai affair. The CCP is full of evil. It's worth remembering that as many as 55 million people starved to death during China's "great leap forward" from 1958 to 1962. I hope this episode focusses more attention on human rights abuses in China.
Thank you so much for opening our eyes to the reality of the situation in China. I always felt something really wrong about this case, but hearing the full extent of the cover up and efforts to silence this poor young girl. Sexual abuse is horrific, and it’s made even harder when your abuser is walking free and you don’t get any justice - and this girl has got it even harder because her abuser is so high up in the CCP, she can’t even talk about the abuse she been though. I hope she physically safe, but beyond that, I really hope she is mentally in an okay place and I hope one day she is able to get the justice she deserves and is able to talk about what she went through; and maybe even write a book on it - that would be awesome!

Glad to see somebody who distinguishes between audiences. I've seen people in the U.S. turn flips over things published in China in the English language, as though the Chinese speak English to one another. It's important in distinguishing news from propaganda to recognize what is said to what audiences. You also show a higher level of critical thinking than most in distinguishing how propagandists use channels and the actual effect the CCP intends by forced confessions--not that people regret anything, but rather to warn others. Ending with the loop between the CCP and Olympic committee was a real coup. Let's NOT boycott the Olympics, though. That only hurts the athletes. He was working on the 2010 winter Olympics and resigned from a company he had worked with for 2 decades. It all concerned the graft and corruption within the IOC. This is a very elite group that makes a fortune putting on the games. The kickbacks, the bribes, the gifts and so on never ends. The IOC also insists that all books be kept closed on the games preventing the public from even knowing what goes on or checking on the corruption. My relative called it a criminal organization on par with something like a drug cartel or the mafia. The amounts of money are so large that skimming millions wont even be noticed. But even beneath the IOC there is yet another international crime group. Each country gets tickets allocated to their local organizing committees. These tickets end up in the hands of scalpers. At the 2010 games in Vancouver we had all these guys with heavy European accents hawking juicy seats to keep events like gold medal hockey games. We as taxpayers paid for the games and the tickets and then we are forced to buy them back from foreign scalpers. What a racket.

A woman like Peng does not post that kind of accusation without it being true, or a mistake. She went public with full awareness of the ramifications to her own life. She is now relying on the rest of the world to realize that. If she was delusional and wrong to post that, then she wouldn't be smiling and allowed to do happy photo ops. She'd be a mess.

Suppression of trauma with the appearance of happiness is a survival trait and coping mechanism for women, repressed populations and save-face cultures. I lack that skill as a western male.
If Peng had fabricated the allegations, she'd already have to be severely mentally unstable ("a mess"). Or the CCP would have erased her completely, which she's smart enough to know would raise far too much attention. A successful intelligent internationally popular athlete has neither the motive nor the gross mental instability to fabricating these allegations.

Thank you so much for opening our eyes to the reality of the situation in China. I always felt something really wrong about this case, but hearing the full extent of the cover up and efforts to silence this poor young girl. Sexual abuse is horrific, and it’s made even harder when your abuser is walking free and you don’t get any justice - and this girl has got it even harder because her abuser is so high up in the CCP, she can’t even talk about the abuse she been though. I hope she physically safe, but beyond that, I really hope she is mentally in an okay place and I hope one day she is able to get the justice she deserves and is able to talk about what she went through; and maybe even write a book on it - that would be awesome!

I actually think you can have a bigger impact on the companies sponsoring the Beijing Olympics by publically calling them out on their social media accounts. Their Facebook and Twitter accounts especially or in public reviews of their products
100% this - these companies are the one's whose reputations in the democratic world will affect their bottom line.

Glad to see somebody who distinguishes between audiences. I've seen people in the U.S. turn flips over things published in China in the English language, as though the Chinese speak English to one another. It's important in distinguishing news from propaganda to recognize what is said to what audiences. You also show a higher level of critical thinking than most in distinguishing how propagandists use channels and the actual effect the CCP intends by forced confessions--not that people regret anything, but rather to warn others. Ending with the loop between the CCP and Olympic committee was a real coup. Let's NOT boycott the Olympics, though. That only hurts the athletes. Rather, let's go there and give them another 1936 moment by crushing them in every event.
