There is a purple filter made by low light innovations that you can screw onto the eye piece of a PVS-14 that gives your green phosphor tubes a more white phosphor look/effect. Its not quite the same as using a real white phosphor device, but it is the closest you can get without having to bust out the racks.

I think you can focus each eyepiece individually. If you let someone borrow it, you may have to focus it back, but that's not too bad.
