- टावर ऑफ़ साइलेंस...एक ऐसी जगह जहां पारसी लोग अपने प्रियजनों के मरने के बाद उनके शवों को प्रकृति की गोद छोड़ देते हैं. यह प्रथा प्राचीन समय से पारसी समुदाय में चली आ रही है. इसे दखमा कहते हैं. पारसी लोग मानते हैं कि मानव शरीर प्रकृति का दिया एक उपहार है, इसलिए मौत के बाद उसे प्रकृति को लौटाना होता है. दुनियाभर में पारसी इसी तरह शवों का अंतिम संस्कार करते हैं, और कोलकाता में भी इसे अपनाया जाता है. लेकिन नई पीढ़ी के पारसी अब इस तरह के अंतिम संस्कार से सहमत नहीं दिखते. क्या टावर ऑफ़ साइलेंस अब हमेशा के लिए ख़त्म हो जाएंगे? देखिए कोलकाता से शिब शंकर चटर्जी की यह रिपोर्ट.

दफनाने के लिए भी जगह कम पड़ने लगी है अब।दफनाने के बाद शव भी चुरा लिए जाते है बेचने के लिए या जानवर भी खोद कर खा जाते हैं।

City of Ahmednagar in Maharashtra was once bastion of Parsis and I heard it many times that founder of Bombay Dyeing Norowsji wadia actually hails from Ahmednagar but for time being there is hardly any parsi in Ahmednagar and all of them went pune or Mumbai for settlement .
Handful of Parsi has contributed more towards India' s economy than bucketful of Muslim. We would never hear parsi play victim card or minority card. I wish Parsi was in numbers than "you get What I want to say"😅

This caused the shell of their eggs to become brittle and increased infant mortality and eventually caused their extinction.
Having said this, this method is the most efficient funerary ritual extant.
When the bird's are plentiful, it firstly characterises a healthy ecosystem.
What the video didn't mention is the bird's consume the entire body's soft tissue in only 15 - 20 minutes.
Burning on a wood pyre takes longer and consumes precious trees.
Burial in these days of real estate scarcity is also prohibitive and makes that space unusable.
The skeletal remains dry in the sun and then fall into the central ossuary pit which is periodically emptied and used as fertiliser (presumably)
As grotesque as this Dokhma or Sky Burial system may feel to many, once it is operational it is literally a Zero cost system of processing the remains of our loved ones hygienically and scientifically with Zero or a Positive impact on the local flora and fauna ie the ecosystem.
The Dokhma being sited on the highest geographical feature in the region is also prone to lightning strikes.
In order to counter this natural phenomenon a huge 25-30 kilogram spike or nail made of copper is buried at a predetermined spot and a thread impregnated with mixture with electrolytic/conductive properties is wound around the structure. This in my opinion acts as a lightning conductor protecting the structure of the Dokhma.

@@jimmybawa5i think burial is good because one place choosen for this and many more bodies are buried no issue after few months its totally decomposed , in my area kabristan present and it is since 100 years working no issue
Tower of silence is horrible its spread air born infections and air pollution and bad smell around and some times the birds take away the body parts out side and drops any ware its horrible
