- This week, Woody and I headed out on our first outing, a fun ride with the GoPro. I unfortunately took a tumble and I take you through what happened and what I'd have done differently if I did it again.
NB: Neither of us were badly hurt and there were no injuries. Woody is 100% fine and so am I

🤣😭😭
😂 Love this!
😂 😭
Aww bless you 🥺I teared up for you being brave and considerate enough to share this. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we all have to experience these things to learn from them. I think given that most horses are usually so sure footed that when they do trip and fall over it is such a shock to the system. Open fields still remain my underlying fear out hacking after a sideways spook that ended in me breaking my leg and dislocating my ankle. I’m in awe of your determination to stay strong and put it behind you. You are so kind to share this wishing you a good recovery xxx
When a horse breaks a leg sometimes the bone can cut their blood vessels so Down the rest of the leg there would be no blood supply the leg and the tissue can die
The couple and the dog that helped you were so sweet!!
They were fab. Their other halves were also out on the course and they rode horses so they knew exactly what to do
Don't you love how horses do everything they can to jump to one side and avoid stepping on us ❤️ hope your ok xx
YES!! First thing I noticed when I watched it back. What a saint.
@@RidingWithRhi he is 😍
This is very true. I was in a very bad jumping accident ( I wascrolled on) and I know the horse tried everything he could to avoid me. I tried to roll out of the way, causing him to trip over me and then he rolled back over me. I’m not sure who was more traumatised. Me or the horse
@@india1422 😱 omg hope your ok!? And the horse!
Yes a horse will not step on you if at all possible. They can see beneath their feet.
The dizzy and nauseous feeling is just shock and the distribution of excess blood to your vital organs. It’s just your bodies survival mode kicking in automatically. It passes after ten minutes or so. Always give yourself those ten or more minutes for your body to come back to normal.
I know.. I was so desperate to just get back on that I didn't sit down for long enough, rushed and.. splat. Oops 🤣 more fool me!
Thanks. I was confused about that & the fainting. I presumed feeling sick and going into shock was a sign of a broken bone or head injury so I've learnt something new. 😀
I mean I know what u r saying but don’t think it’s wise to give medical advice unless u r a medical professional. You don’t know she could have epilepsy, diabetes and the sugar was very low, a broken bone or a head injury can cause that. I’m just saying this because I am a nurse practitioner and I have several chronic illnesses. I do have epilepsy, gastroparesis, lupus and diabetes. My fear is that I’ll have an issue with sugar or a seizure as I don’t take my medical service dog riding. I guess I’m too sensitive to the subject. I’m sure that the people she’s riding with also know if there’s any medical issues.
@@guardiansanimalrescuestate7289 It sounds like you have a large amount of medical issues alright.
My advice is borne out of medical training and is relevant in the above case.
@@guardiansanimalrescuestate7289 Worth noting, i was checked out on scene by a nurse before I moved
Glad your ok, so brave of you for sharing! Happens to us all.. woody is a star ⭐️
VERY glad you are both ok. That sick, dizzy feeling after a fall is horrible, but glad that you didn't really hurt yourself.
Thanks for sharing the good and the bad! Most people do not, I’m even guilty of this oops. Glad you are both okay and what a kind man who got a hold of Woody for you!💞
They were lovely! Their other halves were actually out on the course and they knew horses so it was lucky really.
@@RidingWithRhi yes not every equestrian likes to share their fails it is a huge step
That’s what I love about us British residents, we’re so polite and help out ! The bystander was so sweet 🥰

You British are polite and helpful, however, I don’t think that is restricted to the British. I think that would have happened anywhere in the world. People are basically good, especially people who love animals/horses
Other people is nice and helpful too
Oh my god. It wasn't the fall that made my heart stop for you - it was you passing out. 😭 I hope you went to the hospital! Woody was such a good boy trying not to step on you. Sending hugs from down under x
Yes, first aid training says if someone passes out it's got to be a trip to Emergency just to get checked out
Your so right when you said “I have woody forever so I don’t need to rush”🙌🥰
Thank you for sharing the fall. Horse's tripping over is one of my biggest fears after my horse tripping and rolling on top of me and no one ever really talks about falling off. People make it seem like its no big deal and if you get a bit worried or think you aren't 100% afterwards you are being silly, and should instantly jump back on with no issues. So thank you for sharing it in such a sympathetic and realistic light, and being able to take from the situation afterwards x

No matter how tall the horse is or isn't, it will absolutely knock the wind out of you! There's no avoiding that feeling.
Absolutely true!
until u fall in like halfway up ur shin mud 😭💀
The couple with the dogs were so kind for helping. 💖💖 Hope you feel better x
Ouch!!! Much sympathy from Australia. The bystanders were lovely.
Thank you! Yes, I was so lucky it was them walking by. ❤
Bless you and Woody, glad you are both ok. It’s all about learning x
Awh I love how they didn’t just walk past and didn’t say pfft look at her she fell and they still ran and grabs your horse x
Hope you are good 👍 I love how supportive the dog walkers where
I've been following you for a little while now and I love how down to earth and truthful you are about everything. The good and the bad. So glad you are both ok and what a good boy woody was to do everything to not stand on you when you fell.
Thank you Jacqui ❤️
I love that you went back and said what you would’ve done before, it’s an amazing example to be giving beginner/novice riders. you could definitely be saving a few people falling off, you’re an amazing rider. Glad you are both okay 💞
That’s so good how the dog walker was cautious about how you was feeling and when you fainted he was ready and helped you witch was good. Also woody is so sweet and he was good that he stopped when he noticed what happend good on woody!
Firstly, thank you for sharing this! It’s so brave to share this in a world full of critics but really insanely helpful to see a real situation & you taking ownership to help teach other ☺️
I’m so glad you & woody are both ok, I could feel that fall from your camera... that was hard!
Thank you Alice! ❤️❤️
I couldn’t help not laughing at good morning wood
That fall was definitely a scary one. Im just soo happie that you and your horses are both ok. This is came up after I was researching bucking horses while licking my wound and broken collar bone . Thankyou for sharing your vulnerable moment . I cried for you and released my own fears with this .
Wow. Super scary to see it happen as it did. Especially seeing you go down fainting. You poor thing but so self aware and such a great experience to learn from - that thankfully both of you are ok from. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my heart is pumping so hard for you!!!!!! Glad you were all OK ❤️❤️
When you feeel on the the Grass I was like GIRL YOU OK
So glad you and Woody are okay after that, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Thank you for sharing this, it’s not easy but you handled it well he looked like he was such a saint throughout the whole thing! This goes to show you never stop learning with horses 💕💕
I love horses and all of youre videos shows how horses solve everything💗💗💗
Well done both of you! Glad your both ok x what a super horse you have found x
oh wow!! I hope you are okay!! My first ever fall on a horse(and only fall😅) I fell(I landed on my feet) but it was still very scary and I started shaking uncontrolebly and it was my 3rd ever Canter aswell😂😢
Very happy you’re okay. Unfortunately, we always learn best from moments like these. You and Woody make a wonderful team 💜
Your horse is amazing, he took so care that he would not step on you!!! You will gebt it, you are a good team. I know falling with a horse gives you a big shock and shock's often get underestimated!!! Thank you for the video!!!
This is such a good video! The countryside is lovely , nice horses and people. It’s very helpful to watch videos from regular folks like so many of us are! It’s been a few years since I have done any serious riding, and my up and coming youngster is only 15 months, so I know the trepidation of those first rides out. I get nervous just watching these! Plus, the only people who don’t fall are the ones who don’t get on in the first place..so don’t feel bad ! Just happy that horse and rider are ok and can chalk that up to experience! Good job!😁
So glad both ov u are ok after ur fall
Glad you both are ok!
I love how he kept reassuring that is is okay to take your time, that it is more important to make sure you are ok than rushing things and that there is nothing to worry about going on or anyone throwing around any blame towards you/your horse for the fall. Great couple, amazing amazing amazing reassuring of a rider after a fall who is in shock and just "wants to get back on and keep going" in the back of the head. :D
What a beautiful horse.
Glad you and Woody are OK Rhi! 🌸
Bless, you handled this fall so well, so brave of you to share and talk through it!! Glad your ok x
Glad you both are fine 😊
Glad your both okay ! What a lovely dog walker - you handled the situation really well rhi x
Love how you handled your fall! You looked at it as a learning experience! Things happen, but it’s super awesome that you learned from it!
So glad you're okay and it's lovely that you're so open and honest about these things! ❤️
Firstly what a great ride and I wish we had these in New Zealand 👍 love you explaining how you would do it if you had that moment again.... couldn’t believe you dropping to the ground lovey that was scary xx enjoying your videos xx
I love this, thank you.😊
We all have falls, glad you and Woody are okay, thanks for showing your ride. Ride on girl.
Glad your okay ❤️
Oh bless ya, thank you for sharing, so sorry about the extra shock of then passing out bless ya, that probably hurt more! Hope you're all good now xx
I really appreciate your sharing such a delicate moment. As horse riders this has probably happened to most of us. The fact that your are willing to share and help other riders learn as well is commendable. Thank-you and good boy Woody!
You did so well, well done hope you are ok xx
Bless you, well done, it’s not great falling off, you’re doing a great job xx
Thank you so much for sharing. I've learned so much from this and I held my breath for you. Think you're an amazing rider. Hope that you're both OK. Take care and thanks again x
.
So glad you are both ok, it's so good the way you analyzed the fall to learn something from it for another day!! You'll have many wonderful fun rides in the future that will be problem free!! 😍
Im so glad your okay!
You are incredible, so well spoken and positive. Thank you for your honesty and allowing us to learn from your experience.
Omg that was scary. I'm glad you're okay ❤
Awwww, gosh, I am super glad youre both alright! And thank goodness for Woody being so great!
Thank you for sharing your experience 👍 I learned a great lesson, this video is so valuable for me as I have my very first own horse only a couple of months now and I feel so inexperienced. This is the first video from you I watched and I am already a new subscriber 😁. ♥♥♥
I can’t wait to go on fun rides with my horse. They look so good! And lovely hacking. Not got to the fall bit yet but hope you’re ok 💖💖
Thank you for sharing this! You managed this all very well, and Woody was a very good boy for not taking off for parts unknown and for standing so quietly while you recovered. I'm personally not a very brave rider, and I appreciate your willingness to share moments like this.
He was such a star. I felt so incredibly guilty afterwards ... he got so many carrots and cuddles 😂 its funny... even when I speak to riders I consider brave, they all tell me they are just as frightened, they just hide it better 😆
Ooof, I feel for you, falls are the worst! That's so nice you had options of not having to get back on or walk far. Thanks for sharing, hope you recover quickly!
Hi, I love your calm and sensible approach. I'm glad that you are ok. Thanks for sharing xxx
im so glad you were both ok xx
oof that looked like a wicked fall, glad your okay
So glad your ok,that rlly scared me for a second there
I'm glad that you are ok and the people who helped you are angels
Thank you for sharing ! Woody is so well behaved, standing there and waiting after the fall. He really is a very nice horse ! I am glad you are both fine :)
So glad you two are okay!! Thankyou for sharing this as it could really help some people. This dog walkers were really lovely and seemed to really care. It happens to all of us. It's happened to me too many times 👀!
Thank you so much for your sharing. Its very helpful for all riders. Thankfully you and Woody are both OK. 🙏
O girl glad you guys are ok!
Rhi, thank you so much for sharing the footage from the fall. It happens to all of us! I appreciated that it is a very brave thing to do but will help others (including me) know what to do if faced with a simillar situation. I hope you are alright! xxx
Thank you ! I hope it helps. I'm fine, just had to have a few baths after to help my soreness. Glad I had my hat and body protector on
I am so glad that u r okay 👍🏽
I LOVE THE CLIPPY HOOVES ON THE ROAD!
I have a good cry after a fall but feel better after, so glad your OK, loved watching you go through the beautiful countryside.
So glad you guys are okey! Also just wanted to thank you for showing us that not every single ride is a perfect one like some other youtubers who just cut out the bits. Really appreciate also how you shared about what you would've done different so now I can learn from this too😊😊
Bless you! Somethings don’t go as planned and that’s okay we live and we learn! Glad your both okay! X
so brave!
Glad you are both ok! Thank you for sharing - this is the reality of riding, and we all make mistakes. Thanks for sharing your learning and what you would have done differently. 🥰❤️🥰
I just started riding about 6 months ago, i ride twice a week and supplement the off days with youtube video learning. Last week the horse i was riding was spooked by a For Sale sign in someones yard. The horse had a similar reaction to what happened to you. i did a one rein pull, did a few circles, came to a stop and gave her some positive reinforcement. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I felt so sorry for you and Woody, looked quite a bad fall for him also, you are inspirational how positive you looked at it all, what a fab horse he is 🤗
Glad you are both ok. Also very informative to look at how you handled the situation and your thought processes and how you would have handled it differently. Very brave to share thank you xx
Ooooh I was wincing that whole fall through! So glad you're in one piece. I've only fallen off a horse once (tbh I've only really been on a horse a handful of times) and the shock afterwards is something else, especially if you don't have much adrenaline in your system beforehand.
What a good boy Woody was, not running off after
Sometimes when something happens to you so suddenly it can cause minor shock. The best thing you can do next time is sit down until it passes, because you'll most likely pass out (what happened). It's hard to remember that in the moment though, when you're disoriented and all you wanna do it just get back to what you were doing. We all make mistakes, things happen, we are all human. You and your horse make a great team!
Ah it's horrible but we've all been there ❤️ glad you both are okay!
Oh my goodness Rhi, I cried when I saw that. I didn't expect you to faint. What a superstar sharing this for all riders to see and take lessons from. I am so glad you are both ok ❤️
Ahh love Julien Porch hehe such a sweetie, worked with him many times whilst I was out and about doing event photography.
So sorry about the fall, it looked really painful and it's no surprise that you passed out but I think you guys did amazing and I love your positive attitude towards the situation!
Bless you 🥺 what a great rider you are tho Rhi to know and understand what you thought you did “wrong” and know what you’d do next time instead!!
I’m glad you’re okay though that looked like a nasty fall! Thank you for sharing 🥰
Well done you , glad you are both ok .... onwards and upwards hey x
Glad your both okay. Woody is a super star and it happens to us all at times ❤
im so happy your alright and be carful when you get a new horse because he can be scared of some stuff you might not know off
Happy to hear you both are fine, things heppen... You're really brave and helpful to stare! Thankyou 💗
I 100% understand the dizziness as I felt the same when I feel off once and I luckily didn't pass out, so glad that both are okay and you both are amazing 💖
So glad you are okay. Woody was such a good boy, too. Thank you for sharing your ups and downs with us. I’ve been out of horses for many years now, and I dread falling once I return, so seeing your perseverance and transparency are such confidence-boosters. 💜
Happens to the best of us❤️
oh bless your heart! I had a lump in my throat during that 😥lucky you had those lovely dog walkers to help you
Thanks for sharing! And analyzing what you could have done differently, that was helpful. Glad you are both okay! Woody seems like a great horse and he did so well that entire ride! I wish we had fun rides here in the US... I’ve never heard of one before... but I’m also a dressage rider and wouldn’t be jumping anything! 😃
Thanks for being honest and giving us the opportunity to learn from you as well! The horse community should speak more about that stuff.
I love that you mention you try and get things second hand too - it’s so true you can get such good quality things for a lot cheaper ! So interesting to watch even though was awful to watch you fall! Hope your feeling better now. Love watching your vlogs x
The first fall frightened the life out of me, so no wonder you were so wobbly when you tried to get up! I’m so glad you didn’t try to ride back and that you had some wonderfully kind people nearby to help. I am also glad that you were brave enough to share the whole thing. It just goes to show that it can (and does!!) happen, but I’m really happy that you and Woody were okay x
