  • This is an informational overview video on Prednisone. Prednisone is an inactive systemic corticosteroid, that is metabolized by the liver in active metabolite prednisolone.
Prednisone has high glucocorticoid proporties, which gives it effects in the regulation of your Immune system and metabole activities. It works much like your bodies own Cortisol.
Prednisone has low mineralocorticoid proporties, which give it effects in managing your electrolyte and fluid balances. Those effects work much like your bodies own Aldosterone.
Prednisone is available under several brandnames: Deltasone, Liquid Pred, Orasone, and Adasone.
In this video I will explain when to use Prednisone, how to use prednisone, what dosage to use of prednisone, what are the side effects of prednisone, and is prednisone safe to use when pregnant or while breastfeeding.
In addition I will also explain if prednisone is safe to use while driving, and if prednisone is safe to use with alcohol.
This video is meant for patients and layman. I also made a more in depth video suitable for medical students and medical professionals. You can find a link to that video here:

I usually take it my biologics aren't working and I'm in between injection change. It really helps with my pain. But once I stop taking it, I have a huge breakout of psoriasis. I only take it when I really need it. Not every single day like my doctor wants me to.

Im having the shock treatment to treat fibromyalgia flare up and osteoarthritis. 30mg a day for 7 days. Ive had an array of side effects.... Appetite is OTT! Insomnia increased significantly. As a fibromyalgia sufferer insomnia is part of the condition too. But these tablets have made it much worse. Ive slept lightly last night and got two hours sleep. I also work two shifts a day. I feel like i could sleep for a year right now but insomnia says no. Feeling a little delerium from lack of sleep. However. Ive notice significant changes in my nuropathic pain. The pain has gone. Poof, gone! Inflammation in my hands and sore body areas are more comfortable. I've got one more dose of this later on tonight. Then ive got to deal with the return of all the pain when these wear off.... I for sure wont be having these regularly but i would consider them again, if need be.

I went to an ENT Specialist bc I had fluid on my ear per my PCP. The ENT Specialist said that my nose was inflamed, which caused my Eustachian tubes to swell. I was given a 12 day supply, however, I only took the Prednisone for 6 days. The Prednisone made my anxiety worse, so the ENT Specialist said it was ok to abruptly stop taking the Prednisone. Well according to my PCP’s nurse, I was suppose to taper off of them, not just stop. Now, I’m having headaches, I wake up feeling like I’ve been drugged…I feel like I have a sinus infection, my ears feel full & when I mention this to the ENT doctor, she says I’m fine. @@gabrielantunezjr5994 hello it’s been two weeks, I was only given this medication from the 9th to the 19th so 10days. I didn’t feel any better when I was on it so on the 15th I was given antibiotics for my ear infection, still not feeling better so last night actually I was given a second round of antibiotics. Hopefully this does the trick. The prednisone was given for inflammation of my allergies but it really didn’t help just made me anxious being that it’s a steroid with tons of side effects.

So the derma gave me new corticosteroid medicine which is the Ebastine methasone for one 1 week following with another 1 week of antihistamine which really works. My skin is free from eczema for almost 1 month, but I was such a carefree so it was back again.
