Plant gave Benavidez problems with his movements for the first half of the fight didn’t have the power to effectively slow down Benavidez. Canelo does. He also has a freakin chin. Counter puncher like Canelo will be a problem against Benavidez. DB doesn’t move around as much like Bivol. He’s too stiff for Canelo.
I think Benavidez has the potential but needs a little more polish. 1-2 years and it will be a really good fight

First 5 rounds were all Plant but that pressure from Benavides for the rest of the fight was absolutely crushing. Great performance from both fighters. Even though he lost Plants stock just went up in my eyes.
Honestly he only won those rounds cause David was frustrated the dude kept holding, stalling, running. Eventually he figured he wouldn’t stop so he started punching while he was holding, cut off the ring and adjusted well. The only reason plant didn’t get stopped was because the ref was letting him do all that.

I watched this live Plant is tuff asf but Benavidez got that dawg in em 😭 Plant won the earlier rounds but he doesn’t have enough power to keep Benavidez off so it was only a matter of time before he started walking him down.
His lack of power showed. His punches were literally bouncing off benavidez, he didn't hurt him once.
If he only had the gas tank to finish how he started he would be complete and could have won a fight like this , he was landing and moving beautifully in the beginning making David look ordinary and slow
Not only did Plant not have enough power, he thought Benavidez was all cake walk since Plant got all hyped up that he scored a KO on 38 yr old Anthony Dirrell 😂 and wasted on his energy in the first half of the fight. Benavidez took his energy out and then battered him the rest of the fight.

This made me feel plant was showing Bradley hes wrong about him. Bradley said he quit against Canelo and hes always a quiter now because of it. But plant earned my respect FR. He had heart and dug deep to not give up and keep fighting through it. So salute to both fighters. David earned the Canelo fight but hes ducking SMH. And plant showed hes a great fighter still. Losing to the monster and Canelo are 2 losses to not be ashamed of. Fighters are scared to get in there with the monster. Yet plant did.

Respect to sweet hands Plant 🌱! He showed a lot of heart and is a warrior. Clearly Benavidez won but plant had 3-5 rounds at best but he did not have a good defense that night. I wish him the best on his rest of his career I really hope he can bounce back cause I enjoy his fights
His defense was good it wasnt great but mainly his biggest flaw in this fight was him not knowing how to clinch properly. Sometimes he would clinch from too far away and get clipped or he wouldnt tuck his head in so benavidez would hit him with a big shot in the clinch. Also keeping his hands low when he shouldnt at times would get him clipped too

During the last couple rounds it’s interesting to see the crowd react when Plant was getting hit. Tank was feelin them punches in the crowd. Proud of Plant for being a true warrior he earned a lot of respect that night. I hope we get Benavidez vs Canelo soon

Benavidez was only most effective when he gave cut to Plant over eye by accidental head clash. Plus, Plant doesn’t have tank to match what he did rd 1-3 all night. Andrade would win 8-10rds easy unless Benavidez does something like this with head contact or his elbow….but not likely since Andrade stays on outside and is aways moving laterally. Not to mention is similar height to Benavidez. He would need to smoother him front rd 1 until the last bell to get as many clean shots.

It was the head that open the cut isn’t it? Anyway plant won a lot of the early rounds but benavidez slowly was crawling in to his space, caleb has shown a lot of heart and grit to be able to withstand the damage, cool fight.
For elite fighters Early rounds are literally just testing and understanding their their opponents game plan , the fight doesn’t really start till round 6+ so early rounds don’t matter scorecard wise obviously Benavidez destroyed him when the fight really began

Caleb did great up until 8-9 .. Benavidez started wearing him down
1.) Plant took way too much unneccessary damage. Ref should have called this several times
2.) Hats off to Benavidez. It took him a while to figure out plants patterns but he got it perfectly and didn't let up the rest of the fight
3.) The footwork Plant showed in the beginning of the fight seemed to just disappear towards the middle and he let the taller fighter beat him on the INSIDE. Not the best showing from Plant, I hope he learns and comes back better.
Benavidez is 6’2 with a 74.5 reach. The icon in the beginning of this fight showing Benavidez at 6’0 feet was incorrect. He’s at least an inch and a half taller than Plant. Benavidez is closer to 6’3 than 6’0
I’m 6’2 and seeing Benavidez in person he is a shade taller than me.
I weighed 173lbs as a HS senior. The leanest I got as an adult was 8% body fat at 193 lbs. when I was 28. I felt emaciated. I don’t know how these guys can fight and drop so much weight.

This was a life-or-death type of fight. I think after this one, Caleb is a broken man. If he could have maintained the movement from the early rounds throughout the fight, he'd have won. He became stationary at some point, and that's signing your death certificate again Benavidez because he can now hit you with a 3 or 4-piece combo at will. Hats off to both warriors. Benavidez got his much deserved shine after this one.
He still has potential if he moves down one division. 2 middle weight belts are currently vacant

Creo que Plant en general es mejor boxeador que Benavidez, tiene una técnica más fina y una idea de combate más estructurada, Benavidez se me hace un peleador más rústico y es más pesado y fuerte, sin tanta idea de pelea, tal parecía que los golpes de Plant no le hacían ni cosquillas y eso fue pesando hasta que no pudo más, creo que Benavídez debería estar en semipesado no en supermediano, está muy grande para esa división, no sé si hubiera sido igual el resultado si pesaran lo mismo, aún así dio una gran pelea y acabó de manera justa con Plant, merece todos los honores, ojalá se dé la pelea con Canelo, sería algo genial para la afición

I’ve seen a good amount of Caleb fights . One thing I noticed is he seems to take a lot of punches it seems he could avoid by moving his feet. Maybe it’s just the guy in him thinking he can take the hits but he should move his feet more . I am a big Caleb fan tho- just something I noticed .

Gran pelea
Plant empezó bien pero cayó en lo mismo... con cada episodio empieza a perder todo, la defensa, la pegada, fuerza (sé que a todos los boxeadores les pasa) pero Caleb pierde todo eso de una manera muy notable, tanto así que puede ir empatando o ganando los primeros asaltos y le dan la vuelta para el 7mo u 8vo, al final solo apostó al golpe de suerte. El choque de cabezas arruinó la pelea.
Con todo respeto aqui podemos ver la pesima defensa de venabides Calleb Plant le metió fácil los puños en los primeros cinco o seis rounds otro peleador con mas pegada lo knokea esa noche podemos notar la diferencia del canelo qué tiene mucho mas recursos boxísticos que venabides

Benevidez had absolutely insane gas tank. Later rounds look like he is just warming up when plant was gassed out. This is scary for his opponents but good for us 🥊 fans.

Great fight from plant. He was controlling the first 5 rounds but eventually it seems he tired out. He was also not very aggressive when clinching. David noticed that from about the 5th round forward and then went to town on Plant whenever he clinched because of it. Best defense on a clinch is not letting your opponent punch, Plant just wasn’t getting into good positions or being physical enough to control David and Benavidez took advantage. If plant had fixed that, he’d have won. Gotta go back to the drawing board and work on that

David is technical, comparing it to other technical fighters like Canelo, the difference is like night and day
This fight was so much closer than people are trying to make it seem. Plant won the first 6. CLEARLY outboxed him. David started teeing off once Plants energy started to fade in the 8th. Still didn’t score a knockdown. The last round was close too Plant made an unexpected rally at the end. This fight could’ve easily been a draw. Just because David won his rounds bigger doesn’t mean he won the whole fight.

@@justinmosqueda5454 can you read? Boxing is scored round by round. That’s the way it’s always been. Winning 6 rounds by a small margin is the same as winning them by a large margin. Like I said Benevidez couldn’t close the show 🤷♂️. That’s why this fight was closer than people making it seem.

Stoppages are often overrated. In my book David beat a more improved , version of plant, with a real coach, and looked much better doing it, than Alvarez did, a greener Plant.

When's the last time Canelo cooked anyone. He literally looked mediocre against Plant, saunders, kovalev, Bivol and every time against Golovkin. Apart from the stoppages, he looked one dimensional and slow in most of those fights.
