  • World Horse Welfare and the RSPCA led a multi-agency operation, along with Northamptonshire Police and Wellingborough Borough Council, to rescue 43 fly-grazed horses from a field in Wellingborough after three died and conditions deteriorated in the wake of heavy storms.

    The charities included Blue Cross who took in 10 of the ponies, Redwings Horse Sanctuary, the British Horse Society and Bransby Horses.
    World Horse Welfare now has 25 of the ponies in its care, while other charities took in the remainder with five taken to a holding yard locally as they were not fit enough to travel.

    Why would someone even own 43 horses and not bother to look after them? It doesn’t even make sense. Thank you, World Horse Welfare, for rescuing these lovely horses.

    The owner of these beautiful creatures is a despicable and sorry excuse for a human being. I hope they all recover and go on to have wonderful loving homes. Thank you to all agencies who participated in the rescue.

    As a person who loves and admires the majesty of horses I know I could never own one but they have my heart. I always say when seeing these rescues "If you do not have the knowledge of how to take care of horse's and you can not afford a long term commitment of taking care of them, then don't own them. They are sentient beings, they know how to love how to trust completely, they can think and act on that thought, no one will ever convince me otherwise. Thank you for what you do for them.

    I don't even live in the UK and I still love what you guys do. I wish the us had a large horse rescue agency like you guys (all our horse rescues as far as I know are smaller rescues that just can't handle this large of a rescue). Somebody from the us can correct me if I'm wrong about this

    What took these rescues so long? It's a shame the horses had to suffer for years when the rescues knew about them but left it until they were water logged.

    This looks and sounds like the same thing that happened in Leicester (Fosse park) a few years ago!
    That resulted in a young horse drowning before anything was done; that owner was breeding them for meat

    • @shelfuller724
      @shelfuller724 Před 3 lety +1

      And Derby. Been going on for years. Similar to here, left on land that floods, supposedly these poor souls are for meat as well.They are left to breed continuously. I loaned a 11.2 hh from rescue centre, he was over 20, he was riddled with worms lice and sweet itch. Such a sweet little man. Although he was given all the care after a year and a half he had a chest problems and stopped eating. The suffering these ponies go through and all for mans money and ego.

    🐎🐴Thank u for saving all of those guys & girls. Horrible 2 see em all so scrawny & boney, hope they all recover well.💜
    Its a shame da pos 'owner'👎 jus left em 2 their own devices. I'd be angry as h3ll too for not being able 2 prosecute da 'owner' too😠. If only it was a way($$) 2 investigate whereabouts of said missing pos persons. Then others would maybe think twice about buying so many & not taking care of them, for fear of jail, fines, etc.

  • @destinationaddictionsamsar7894

    I'm jealous of Europe as here in America it's hard to find any draft/cob horses for adoption.

  • @margolenney6032

    I can’t for the life of me understand why this is happening in the UK! We are not a third world country, help can be accessed if asked for. So what arrogant ‘so called owner’ can be allowed to act so irresponsibly. This should be a criminal offence, not an act that you can shrug your shoulders and say I couldn’t care less. So this guy has allowed so much suffering to defenceless creatures, and what’s to say the bu**er can’t do the same thing again. To say this is wrong is this years understatement!

    Why can't the owner(s), when known, be fined for the costs entailed in their rescue and rehab?

  • @archangel807
    @archangel807 Před rokem +1

    Stronger laws might end abuse like this....How about making selling slaughtered horse meat in stores illegal. Then no profit in treating horses like meat.......

  • @elzaaltmann

    Stricter rules and regulations for people that want horses.

  • @dshe8637
    @dshe8637 Před 2 lety +2

    The owner didn't come forward, because he had nowhere to put them. He was fly grazing them for free.
    Irresponsible breeders like this will occasionally sell horses and it's all profit because they spend no money raising and keeping them.
