Meet the rescued abandoned foal who is going out for the first time

Young foal Olaf was separated from his mother too early and abandoned on land prone to flooding, left to fend for himself as freezing winter weather approached.
Thankfully, the landowners cared enough to get Olaf the help he needed, and they contacted us. When Field Officer, Chris Shaw, visited to assess the situation in early December 2021 it was clear that Olaf was very young indeed, just a few months old - and his situation was precarious with winter weather fast approaching.
Olaf arrived safely at Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Norfolk where he is now being looked after by an expert team, who will care for him until he is ready for rehoming.

That is exactly what they are known here as in the states. And I'm telling you now, Olaf would cause quite a commotion over here as our horses and ponies do not look like this at all.
Everybody would just go crazy for the wonderful action and style of this little guy. He's simply beautiful and I would just love to have him in the barn.
Thank you. She kept referring to Olaf as a youngster. How old do you think he is? He seems well-filled out for a very young horse. Will he get much taller? Just curious, he is gorgeous, in any case.
He is a beauty. Little stepping cob?? I took a wee mini shetland colt on ..I was isolated with him with not much experiance. I kept him for just 6 weeks or so. I only had a shelter for him. I had all the innoculations passport worm counts .. and he was
the best creature. Id take him out on lead etc..let him run and graze where i could.
I did eventually give him to an equine assisted therapy place..the same reason i bought him .
Alas, i had no land, I was told it wasn't appropriated enough taking him out on lead etc.
But my oh my; he screamed as they took him ..he was so loved and he evidently loved us. I doted on him.. I'm haunted; as I'd never heard such a fearful 😨 sound. I hope he never forgets us.. lil Bryn😔

You have brought joy to this pony, I thank you for your compassion and understanding of what freedom truly means to a horse. He has got the cutest gate! You can tell he feels good because he sure is a prancing proud pony! She almost looks like he double steps or skips I don't know but it is adorable! I thank God for organizations like you and I'm thankful for a smart landowner who knew what to do and that little Olaf what a little show off I can't tell you how much I love it! Keep up your phenomenal work hopefully maybe someday the world won't need places like this.. oh who am I kidding I'm just thankful you're there!

Olaf is in my opinion, the most beautiful horse I have ever seen. He must have escaped from someplace because I can't imagine him being deliberately abandoned, then to, people sometimes do some very mean things.

Looks like a mini gypsy vanner horse. I have one, he is beautiful!!! These are a very sought after breed, Who would abandon him!?
In UK we call them cobs.
Makes me suspicious that he was stolen then abandoned because of fear or problems of the thieves.

Very interesting to see he way that Olaf went through his paces, as soon as he was released. He has a beautiful high-action trot there, but also we saw a little bit of an extended trot before he broke into a canter. His Mother must have done some educating before they became separated.

I thought he looked like a Gypsy Vanner with his markings and the copious mane and feathering on his fetlocks! They are such a beautiful, spritely horse! I've fallen in love with them since first becoming aware of the breed a few years ago. It's such a shame Olaf lost his mom so young, but I'm really glad he found his way to you! Beautiful little Gypsy Vanner with possible cross of something else, his movement is not typical of Vanner, so I keep thinking there's something else in there. Especially his nose shape. He's going to be smaller but excellent little draft horse. He looks like he has amazing joints and strength. I hope he ends up somewhere that people will love the heck out of him and cherish his beauty.
He moves like a Friesian. Beautiful gait. But the tail held high says Arab.
I wonder if there is a way of looking at his dna and identifying what the other breed is.
