When the Bizarre Ride came out, those of us that partook, found a hidden gem. It’s, for me, an all time album. Highly suggest digging into it.
Strangely enough tonight is the first time I have ever encountered this band and the album it's Genius
The whole Hieroglyphics crew is mad underrated. Souls of Mischief, Del the Funky Homosapien, they are all fire
listened to it my first time tripping alone hahaha, 4 better or 4 worse got me crazy
Nice reaction! This is a certified classic track. Some more songs on this type of vibe are:
The Roots- Silent Treatment
Common Sense- I Used To Love H.E.R.
A Tribe Called Quest- Electric Relaxation
Classic 1992/93 hit 🔥🔥🔥
Definitely good to see the younger generation listening to this, I miss this era so much!!!!!!!
If you like this you should check out "Souls of Mischief"
EXACTLY 💯
There was a lot of really cool hip hop groups at the time Pharcyde came out--East Coast and West Coast! 🥰💝
They had a song from the same albim--their debut song-- "Your Mama"! The video is hilarious!
You have a great ear young lady! This was the ISH back n da day!!!
This is in my top ten of all time story telling tracks. 47 year old here lol. Heard many.
The "my dear my dear" part was on stutter - by joe
Yup, and The Pharcyde sued for infringement
wasn't it my name my name my name?
What I like is back then rappers didn't have to be super Playas. You should listen to Digital Underground "Kiss You Back"
J Swift beats = pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥
check out A Tribe Called Quest- Award Tour
Was listening to this in high school, the whole album is 🔥
True
They were actually still in high school Locke High watts,California same school Tyrese attended. He was in their renowned band program when he did the coke commercial.
and this was the alternative to l.a gangsta rap in that era
This album dropped the same week as The Chronic. CA underground was hella diverse.
Also, mixing engineers blended vox and music more equally, but damn, those 12 bit samplers were FIRE!!!!
Correction: not the hook but Phat Lip's portion of the verse is what Joe used as well as sampling some of the melody from Pharcyde, not the chorus (hook) as I stated earlier
Joe the r&b singer is where you heard it. I believe with Mystikal. I believe the song was name stutter
Pharcyde had a smooth sound, this tune got me into them. If you haven't yet, check out some Gang Starr for some lyrical education and deep beats
Love the Pharcyde, love to see your reaction! I’d love to see your reaction to their song Pack the Pipe. I see no one talking about that song but I think the lyrics are extremeeeeely problematic. I’d love to know what you think
Problematic....for 93...or 2024...🤔
This tune took me through A..LOT....!!!! PHSSSST!!! DAAAAAMN!!!🔥🔥💥🔥💥🔥💥🔥💥🔥💥💥🔥🔥💥🔥🔥💥🔥🔥
My top 10 hip hop albums of all time
I just peeped you for the 2nd time. You look so much like my cuz it's crazy. Anyway you're on point 💕 you're reaction. It's a old jazz type song he got that (my dear) from.
You ' are' Digging in the Crates ' Bae'bee'.! 😘👍🏿🙏🏿💯🎯🫵🏿🌹🌹🌹🌹💝🥈🥈🥈🥈😁🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
Yep, this brings me way back💯🙏💖
By Joe Stutter
Good call Bro!
My' ERA'.!👍🏿💯🎯😁
The song you're referring to is "Stutter" by Joe.
another hit was - ya mama. lol - funny song
Pharcyde- Running
Goodie Mob- Cell Therapy
These brothers really lived up to their name but so underrated.
Back in the days- Ahmed
I’m enjoying your reactions. Binary Star- Honest Expression. AZ- Rather Unique. The Roots- Respond/React. Naughty By Nature- Feel Me Flow. Sporty Thievz- Cheapskates. The Mighty Mos Def- Brooklyn. The Lost Boys- Renee. Tha Liks- Daaam! Onyx- The Worst.
Those Lady’s still hold up. Same as the song. Timeless
The best!
Thh song you were thinking of was 'stutter' remix by joe feat Mystikal
I believe you talking about that song from the RnB artist Joe - Stutter Remix
man, this takes me back to middle school...sorta melancholy
Now there she goes again ,the first Ethiopian ...dope
The original inspiration for the samples your talking about comes from *King Pleasure - I'm In The Mood For Love*
yea 90s no two artist or group sounded alike
"Stutter" Joe ft. Mystikal is the song you are thinking about that samples this song.
You might have been thinking about a song called Bang Bang.
The Alkaholiks sampled this song in "My Dear".
Queen Latifah- Nature of a Sista
Hey mama…in the same old school hip hop days….I used to bump ‘Latyrx- Lady don’t tek no’ in the car alllll the time. You gotta react to that oldie.
You heard the hook redone on Joe featuring Mystikal on Stutter
That YUMMY 12 BIT SP1200 CERTAIN TYPE OF CRUNCH MMMMMMM
I think the song you’re talking about is Stutter by Joe
I always thought the last rapper sounded like Louis Armstrong.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I would love to know where the samples "things keep passing me by" come from
🎉
5:25 sounded like Studder by Joe
JOE USED THIS SAME SAMPLE FOR STUTTER REMIX
👍👍👍👍
Can you play the Whisper “Say Yes’
As good as the original version is, it would be good if she heard the Fly As Pie Remix by J-Swift.
Check out The Pharcyde - Drop also great from them!
THE end... but POSSIBLY the masterpiece of rhe entire Native Tongues influence on Hip-Hop.
And I miss this damned style more every time some douchebag in Hip-Hop puts out an album.
This is a song about NOT getting the girl. How many artists nowadays would put themselves in a position of vulnerability today?!
ZERO. 💯
Peace! Excellent timeless joint; but it’s not the masterpiece of NT influence on hip-hop.. De La & Tribe, Jungle Brothers, etc had too many dope cuts..
@@99alfailiwaqain51 But they ALL fell off after about '95, sadly
Umi Says- Mos Def
The song youre thinking of is Joe-Stutter feat Mystikal
Mytical and Joe…… the little melody u heard before
That song you talking about is Joe stutter
you heard it from Joe-Stutter
React to the Pharcyde - 4 Better or 4 Worse
We were spoilt in the 90's
If you like this beat you really need to do yourself a favor and research the late producer J Dilla you won't be disappointed
Let me answer you never heard that riff on that last verse. These guys were the original.
thats fat lip.. his legend endures
Joe, Stutter
Note to your generation: Nothing you're doing is new. The 90 was the pinnacle.
That melody in the 4th verse that you said you knew was sampled in another song, that might have been 'Through the Eyes of a G' by Action Bronson! (Around 2:20 into the song)
