  • Dragonfly Trimarans presents to you the fourth out of six chapters in the Dragonfly Sail Guide series. This time Jens and Peter want to demonstrate how to use the Code 0 on a Dragonfly.
In this video we will go through:
0:46 How to use Code 0
General for all Dragonfly Sail Guide videos is that we have tried to keep it relevant for all kinds of sailors no matter how skilled you are. Therefore, you will get basic knowledge and some in-depth explanations of how to trim and sail a Dragonfly.
And do not forget that we have tried to generalize as much as possible, so that these tips and tricks can be used on all Dragonfly Trimarans.
We hope that you will enjoy this fourth video in the Dragonfly Sail Guide series.

I used my Code 0 for 7 years on the DF32 Supreme, mostly in the shallow waters of the Dutch Waddenzee.
Easy to sail, a lot of power. What I tend to underestimated is the space I need with this very fast sailing to bare off downwind to furl in the Code 0 in time before hitting the sand. And yes, that gave damage once....
Elvstrom did a good job in repairing the sail...

Going upwind, does it make sense to use the barber hauler to pull the tack of the code 0 to leeward?

Do you also furl in the code0 for a jibe?

Where did you attach the furler line to in rear of boat?

The furler line is a closed loop.
When the sail is set there is no need for attachment.
But there is an eye within the loop which you bind with an elastic backwards to the rear beam to have the furler line always ready to take your hands on.

Please show how to attach the code zero furler drum to the bowsprit

You retract the bow spriet to do this as it is normal routine prior to any harbor entering.
On the 28 it is done by flipping it sideway.
On the new 40 the bow spriet is fixed but easily accessible for this task.
All in all no difference to other yachts with code zero.
