So I had assumed it was written by a man, because whether or not we like it, that's how things were often done. However, we need to take appreciation that the fact that it held up to be held at a higher esteem, and has lasted longer than MOST songs written by men around that time.

All the workers and the poor of the world have something in common, the same political goal, to achieve an unbelievably better life, for everybody. The rich exploit all of us, their favored economical system, the so-called free market, destroys the planet/climate, they send us to die for their wars and a thousand other ways in which they make life miserable for the rest of humanity. With monopolies taking over any given industry and destroying the competition surrounding it, unions are the only reliable way to get the value that’s created squarely in the hands of the individual who truly made it.
