I assume this was the Mattel factory on Rosecrans Blvd in Hawthorne CA. Across the street from my backyard; they occasionally gave us toys to test in the 1960s. Toy machine guns for the win.
I found this video clip rather interesting! I collect Mattel dolls from the 60s and can imagine the process from beginning to end would be even more elaborate than that of a Jack in the Box. Who'd have thought there were so many steps involved in making a wonderfully popular toy...looks simple but indeed it is not. Thank you very much for uploading this video!
Ever since this era, hearing 'Pop Goes the Weasel' puts me in mind of Allan Sherman; "My daughter needs a new phonograph, She wore out all the needles. Besides, I broke the old one in half, I HATE THE BEATLES!
