- Waterton Lakes National Park is the Canadian side of the Waterton Glacier International Peace Park (on the American side is the Glacier National Park). The Park is UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Crypt Lake hike is famous for its scenery and is one of the best hikes in the area.

I was initially planning to do the three best hikes in Waterton Lakes National Park, but unfortunately extensive wildfires caused closing of the park after my hike to Crypt lake. In the video you can see how the air during the hike becomes hazier, at the end of the day the Sun was hardly visible. The next day the Park was closed and a day later completely evacuated.
Yes, BC had a particularly brutal fire season this year.

Beautiful video. I've hiked most of the well known trails out there including the 'triple crown challenge'. I was in Waterton the same time as you. My girlfriend and I were literally the last two people (we were hiking all day) to be evacuated from the campground we were staying at. Next month I plan on climbing the mountain ridge that surrounds Crypt Lake.

yeah, the long shot with the reflections I took three years ago, at that time because of the snow I couldn't do the trail, finally did the trail, but then the fires came in ...

Great Milosh, how lucky you were to get that beautiful calm, windless day. We nearly got blown off that boat that took us to the top of the lake. But then you got the fires!
I managed to do the hike on my second visit. The first one was three years ago, mid September, there was an early snow and I was told on the boat that people could not reach the Crypt lake the day before, so I had to turn back, drive to Glacier and continue hiking there.

Nicely done, Milosh! My buddy and I were there in August so I recognized many of the locations. We did not make it to Cyrpt Lake or the cave hike so I particularly enjoyed seeing it in your video. Thanks.

Actually, we were in and out of the smoke the whole trip from Jasper to Glacier in early August. The worst was on the west side of the Rockies. When it was clear we got some good video and stills. Keep up the good work.
As habit, every of your videos are amazing, good choice on every aspects (music, landscape, timing, camera still or moving, ...). ooh beautiful.. i have been to this park but not being to the places where you went. love those caves up in the mountains. The day we went it was so windy and it was not a nice day to walk around. Thank you for showing another side of this beautiful creation of mother nature.
I am thinking to come back for the other hikes, but I hear the fires have damaged substantial areas of the park :(

yeah, this is the beautiful historic Prince of Wales hotel. It has been designated designated a National Historic Site

This video is nicely shot but it fails to tell much of a story. Unless you've been on the hike (I have) or watched one of those "Go-Pro" style videos, this video has no context. A waterfall here, a mountain there, a cave. So what? I prefer the Crypt trail videos where the person sort of takes you on the hike with them, in continuous fashion, from the beginning to the end. I did like your overview shots taken of the whole lake. That was great.

Yes, good point:) When I visited Glacier in mid September 2014 I drove to Waterton to do Crypt Lake, but because of the early snow I was told the lake is not accessible, so I turned back to Glacier, but managed to get some footage from the area. The older footage you can tell by the presence of snow and the clearer air. So the bear with the cubs I shot in Waterton above the Prince Edward hotel. At the time I did not have video from Waterton and I included the clip with the bear and the cubs in the Glacier video, completely forgot about that
