"unnecessary violence" not just any violence. But what kind of violence does a robot see as justified? Best line in the commercial because it shows how sneaky he can be.
"I can carry out directives that my human counterparts might find... distressing, or unethical..."

Will there ever be anyone who plays the "Alien" android better than Fassbernder? Honestly, I dont see it happening. His movements, actions, "emotions" and especially his voice are perfect for "David". He was born to play this role.

Spectacular performance and character buried inside a heavily flawed set of movies.

I never knew about the promo, and this was a great find. Michael Fassbender is truly extraordinary, I love his role as Dabid 8, even if this is a bit scary!

I love how androids are portrayed in the Alien universe. They seem so intelligent and so human, but deep down they have no free will of their own and are directed by a list of pre-programmed rules. They are like talking to the worlds most advanced instant messenger chat bot (only _real_, and several orders of magnitude more complex). Complex emotional reactions are merely imitations
SPOILERS
Davids motives throughout the movie were really only in his loyalty to Weyland; he just did whatever Weyland wanted and all the (strange) things he said and did beyond that were just the result of early/alpha-stage programming to make him appear "more human" in his behavior. He would never have poisoned Holloway without Weyland's permission, and even when it seemed like he was genuinely being curious, he was really just gathering information for Weyland. He would not be an "evil" android were it not for his requirement to be loyal to Weyland. I guess that's why they had him say "Doesn't everyone want their parents dead?" to Shaw
If only covenant didn't ruin that logic lol
This video is a very dark example of foreshadowing a character.
David was anything but compassionate towards humans, acted out and copied his creators god complex, killed without any remorse and was the whole reason the xenomorph species turned out the way it did.
David is truly a terrifying character. A machine without emotions or compassion.
But terrificly well played by Michael Fassbender. He did such a great job.
This short video is better than the entirety of Prometheus.

Fassy has now proved that he is one of today's best actors. His method acting is truly amazing and he is very talented. He has shown us the best performance of an android and I really really want him to win an academy award in the future.

The plans he's looking at at 1:21 look vaguely like the terraforming plant in Aliens.
The whole point was for it to blend in. Blinking helps create the illusion.

I think the DAVID character played so well by MICHAEL FASSBENDER in this viral video is going to have some very dramatic scenes - reminiscent of how BISHOP was played so well by LANCE HENRIKSEN. A mixture of creepiness and followed by heroism or vice/versa

On the film itself I loved it, and Fassbender was strongest actor out of the entire cast. It was Kubrickian in its intentional obscurity and invites the viewer to work it out. I've seen it three times now, and there IS more in there. Scott has hidden some stuff in plain sight, but the eye is so overwhelmed by the spectacle that on first viewing you can miss it.
i never noticed the skull-shaped boxes in the backround behind david. hmm...
I hav strong feeling that Fassbender will the the next James Bond in the future, after this era of the whole tough, gritty, thug-like 007 has fadded away. Hes shaping into a great actor and I do think he bares the closest remeblance to Flemings original physical depiction of the Bond character.

He is soooooooo HAL... Oh, and one seriously, properly brilliant actor underneath. Unbelievably to myself, I've got everything and more from Prometheus that I ever wanted. The right director, brilliant cast, bits relating to all previous films, strong and definitely female character, new, yet plausible future technology, new & original eggs, creatures, vehicles, TONS of Giger's work, sound and visual effects from the best of the best. BEST alien franchise movie, hands down. Inch before Alien 1.
The skulls behind him are a nice little subtle bit of foreshadowing...or maybe just a relatively discreet way of creepifying things a bit.

This clip is better than the movie. The only part of the movie that comes close to being this good is the beginning, where it's just David in a ship full of cryopodded humans.
